Thanks for the tips and I look forward to seeing your experiment, as I won't be planting carrots this year. I was curious of how wide your raised beds are?
@@GardeningintheNorth I haven't had a garden for a number of years and this property I'm now at hasn't been worked yet. I do plan on putting some raised beds in and I liked the look of the width of yours.
Keep at it! Everyone does that! I planted all my onions this year and completely forgot the rest of the onion starts out in the garden and 5 days later..... dead. 🤣
Hello! I think I live nearby (Roseneath) and wondering where you sourced your cattle panel fences?? Have been keeping an eye out but not sure where to pick them up.
Hello neighbour!!!! The first few I got from Peavey Mart, but I looked this time last year, they didn't have the exact same thing and they were SO EXPENSIVE! After a lot of research, I found them at Ontario Wholesale Farm Direct. They have pick-up and delivery, but would only deliver to bowmanville. If you know someone in the Durham Region they can deliver there and you could pick-up. They are 16 feet long. With taxes and delivery, I think they work out to be just under $100 a panel.... not cheap like our American friends. BUT, I LOVE THEM 🙂
@@GardeningintheNorth thank you! I will check them out :) yes, they're definitely a lot cheaper down south... but they look really useful (and look good too) so probably worth the investment!
Hello ladies! You can do a few things. When you buy fertilizer look at the NPK numbers on the front. N is for nitrogen, so select one where this is the lowest number. You can also add in wood ash from a wood stove or fire pit. You can also make a banana peel fertilizer. There are a few methods. I would suggest dehydrating the peels, blend to powder and add a slow release fertilizer. You can also make a tea, but people have complained that it attracts bugs. Save all your banana peels in the freezer over the winter. I will not lie, I've dug out many peels over the months...

Thank you 🙂 do you normally grow carrots? That bed is 3 ft x 8 ft and roughly 3 ft tall

You are a better gardener than I am. I once spent $30 on plants that yielded about $2.00 worth of veg!
