Vio-lence is one of the most underrated and under represented thrash bands out there, eternal nightmare is a hidden gem I found randomly and the more I heard the vocals the more I loved it. Was surprised to see they did a new album some months ago
They were one of the most respected Bay area Thrash bands in the scene back in the day. They had such a MASSIVE and loyal following too. I mean it wasn't unusual to see members of Metallica at their shows, all trying to act low key but still there showing respect and support. But for whatever reason their day in the sun just never came. When Exodus got picked up and blew up, then Death Angel and Testament, everyone kept saying "Okay, now it DEFINITELY is gonna be Vio-Lence who gets picked up next! There's just no way they are going to get passed over...", but nope. Next I believe it was Forbidden and then I can't remember who was next. However you also had NEUROSIS growing massively in following and popularity over in Oakland and across the bridge in San Francisco too. And around that time the scene was starting to rapidly change. You had Primus blowing up like wildfire...other funk bands like Fungo Mungo and Psychofunkapus too...and there was talk that Thrash might be dead. If I remember correctly, as it's been a long time, I believe in the end it was Sean's (the singer) fucking bloated ego that really began weighing heavily and creating major stress in the band. That and his brother (drummer) and he were having problems getting along. And frankly it was really Robb Flynn who was the real Heavy Weight in the band, in that not only was/is he a fucking ripper of a musician, he was a MAJOR supporter of the East Bay (especially) and really the whole Bay Area metal scene... just the local music scene in general. He was really supportive, had friends/connections all across the country who he could call and they would happily put up floor space for small touring bands ( A Massive blessing when you are a band of 4 or 5 dudes basically living in a van, along with your gear/equipment, touring across the country and getting by on pennies a day in some cases. Plus he knew plenty of people who either could book shows or maybe would take on last minute acts like at a warehouse or a rent party or sometimes even clubs. Nobody EVER ( I mean even to this day) has an unkind thing to say about Robb Flynn. He was just one of those guys that everyone knew (from metal to punk even) that was a major figure in keeping the bay area music scene alive and thriving!
gman hirt Dunno, maybe the fact that both Robb Flynn and Phil Demmel (the two guitarists) are busy playing in Machine Head. Always preferred Vio-Lence over Machine Head, but I don't see any reunion happening while the latter is still up and running.
@@Melodeath00 just got proven wrong about two days ago, lmao. They are actually thinking about working on an album together. The only person missing from the classic lineup is Robb Flynn. They have Ray Vegas (guitarist who took over after Robb left,) covering his position.
DAMN GOOD !! youre doing the best cover for Phobophobia - Salute !! Violence is extremely fantastic, their guitar riff and chord i think is alot lot better than Metallica or Anthrax.. more like Testament in style guitar.. or complicated like Megadeth
