Using a slide, you use a very light touch. Rest the slide directly over the fire marks on the fingerboard. Also, you can adjust intonation using a tuner. Tune it and then when its in tune compare it by checking the tune st the 12th fret string by string. If it's out of tune at the 12th, you just move the bridge on the body up or down a little at a time. Recheck and adjust the position of the bridge until its all in tune. If you have to cock the position of the bridge, that is fine. If your action us too high or low, just by smaller or bigger diameter bolts for the bridge and the nut, and replace one or both, until you are good with it.

When using the slide do you have to apply full pressure? Like press the strings hard into the fretboard? I just got one of these as a gift and I find it hard to play compared to an acoustic guitar due to the strings being so high over the fretboard
