I had the first phase one captain. I remember getting it as a kid at the mall. At the time I barely knew what Star Wars was. I remember playing with it as my mom shopped for clothes that day. I’m almost 30 now lol and for some reason the phase 1 clone troopers always make me feel nostalgic for that time period.
I remember as a kid when these came out that Walmart only had the clone trooper with the burgundy stripes and the pilot and that was it. I was so irritated because I wanted the whole set.
I have the tvc p1 clone, 2020 rerelease version, it’s one of the best p1 sculpts, so articulated but it’s limbs are a bit slim but still acceptable. I have one opened up and three still in the card back, if I find a fifth and sixth tvc p1 clone. I’ll open one and keep the other so I’ll have four in the card. I also have the red clone captain you mentioned that has the cannon but missing the tripod. It’s in excellent condition. I also have the super articulated clone but as commander Neyo because they reused the mould for a few non p1 clones such as the mentioned 91st. I really enjoyed this video, this is very well made and knowledgeable, it feels like a documentary.
First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video, and secondly commenting down here. It’s always a pleasure to talk to a fellow collector. People who have an extensive understanding of these figures and their respective toy-lines have my undying respect. So, cheers to you for that. Now, I agree that the limbs are a bit slim, and also one other nitpick is that the torso joint gets loose if you play around with it too much. But, as you say, it’s acceptable, considering everything else about it. I wish you luck in acquiring more of these Clones. I personally prefer the original TVC Version without the updated paint apps on the face and such. This new one is awesome don’t get me wrong but it seems slightly strange how they made the face so overly life-like to a point it’s a bit creepy haha. I do appreciate the apparent effort on Hasbro’s part, but they could have used the original head and I’d still be cool with it. As far as the 2003 Phase 1 Mould goes, yes you’re right. They used it for other non-phase 1s, aka phase 2s. There’s so many variants out there, that I couldn’t remember or think of everything at the time, but I made sure to reference at least one of those hybrids as it is entirely relevant to the Phase 1 evolution. Thank you for appreciating this video. I put about 2 months or so of work into this, because I’m super passionate about these figures and the Star Wars universe as a whole, so I genuinely put effort into this project. The documentary feel is kind of what I was aiming for. I want there to be comprehensive historical type videos about these figures out there for OG Collectors to feel a sense of nostalgia and learn of where the evolution of these figures began and all their history up until present time, especially for the next generation of collectors. I at the same time want to make them watchable and enjoyable, and not boring. I enjoy watching this video and my others, so I think I pulled it off. Take care out there! Merry Christmas.
@@TheCommander35 merry Christmas to you too, also I’m a big fan of LEGO clone troopers and I know a lot about them, I just recently got into figures of 3.75 inch scale and I’m not surprised on how many there are compared to LEGO clones. Also I agree the 2020 rerelease of the tvc p1 clone’s face being strange, for me it’s the mouth that looks off to me, the rest is pretty nice. Here’s hoping they’ll rerelease the sergeant and lieutenant along with making new repaints of the captain and commander. One thing I didn’t mention is that the tvc mold is used on many p2 clones recently as well such as the latest grey 41st coruscant clone, their p2 helmets are cartoonishly huge and it’s kinda goofy, it almost evokes the same goofiness of the LEGO clone minifigures which I have a vast knowledge of. Great video and I agree this is the best phase 1 clone. Did you hear there’s going to be a new clone mold can’t wait to see how it looks like for phase 1.
I'm collecting certain figures that I like haven't been able to find a Phase 1 Green Jet Trooper from the First SW Battlefront. Which looks like the Sergeant. I've noticed that Old school Figures in General Hold their Value well here in England.
If they would delete the removable helmet feature, then scale down the helmet, and slightly beef up the legs. Then VC45 would be perfect. They might not even have to touch the legs, a smaller hard-plastic, non removable helmet would set it off.
This is in response to both your comments on here. I see what you’re saying. Sounds like George Lucas inconsistency stuff. Obviously Hasbro Toys isn’t going to make it exactly 110% Screen Accurate because it’s impossible for a removable helmet clone trooper figure in this scale. It has to be done affordably since It’s a $12.99, 3.75” piece of plastic, not a sideshow collectibles premium design. No Hasbro figure is exactly right, especially with removable helmets. Only some as close as they can be to accurate. We already have beefed up Phase 1s in multiple different lines with non-removable removable helmets and they look terrible by today’s standards. I think the reason Hasbro avoided this again was to add more accessories for marketing purposes and to warrant the $12.99 and rising prices of TVC. In order to increase poseability and articulation, the body mold and joints had to be redesigned into this taller and fitter appearance. Perhaps a harder plastic on the legs would be nice, but again you’re dealing with Hasbro, they’re not gonna waste money if they can avoid it. The only figure from Hasbro I’ve seen that is close to the AOTC on screen model is the Black Series 6 inch version that retains beefiness and the reduced helmet size that you can’t fit a head inside unless it was the size of the ball joint, i.e a peanut. I think Hasbro nailed it with TVC one. Though it isn’t perfect, It’s still one of the best removable helmet Clones you will most likely ever receive from any of Hasbro’s lines. Definitely in this scale. Though I might prefer The Black Series 3.75” Commander Neyo or TVC Arc Trooper Commander.
@@TheCommander35 I'm still hopeful we will get a non removable helmet version of both Phases some day. We did with the Stormtrooper and we are soon with the new Boba Fett.

Definitely the most accurate and probably the best. I think they should just stick to the original TVC phase 2 body though, for the phase 2 obviously not phase 1.
Interesting choice. I have quite a few of the original phase 2 TVC body figures. The problem they’ve always seemed to have is that they can’t get the helmets right, not on the original or even the newer VC molds, at least in my opinion. They’re very flimsy and appear out of proportion, whereas the phase 1 VC’s helmet is perfect. There was that new VC phase 2 41st trooper released just recently, that looked like the helmet may have been updated. I want to look into picking that one up.
