    Tonight I 'discovered' you and I am absolutely blown away by your talent. Not only the crocheted projects, but I Ioved seeing your beautiful embroidery too.
    It was so wonderful to see your studio. Thank you so much for this tour.
    By the way: I think we are about the same age. I was born in December 1952, so I am 71 now.
    So great to watch a video made by someone of my age instead of someone aged 30 something !
    I am more of a knitter than a crocheter, but I love all things creative.
    I have sewn a lot in the past and also worked with paper, for instance scrapbooking.
    Also loved to do crazy quilting. If I had only more time I would do that again.
    Nowadays I often test knitting patterns for designers from all over the world and I love that very much.
    Thank you for a very nice video and I hope you will vlog much more in the near future.
    Hugs from The Netherlands!

    I’m a first time viewer and enjoyed the tour of your studio very much. I guess I must be one of those nosy crafters you mentioned. You spoke of Maria Goldberg several times but I couldn’t find her anywhere. I’m I spelling her name correctly? And what is the name of her book? I’m anxious to check out your other videos. I'm curious if you have ever made junk journals? I ask because I made one out of an old book that I quilted a cover for and I filled it will all of my little needlework samples and works that never amounted to anything. I enjoy looking through it so much, rather than just having it stashed in a drawer. All of your little samples are so fabulous, they deserve to be seen.

    Hi Marion, I follow you on Instagram and love your patterns. I have so many projects waiting and people keep having babies so I keep having to stop to crochet gifts for them!
    As soon as I’m caught up, I can’t wait to try one of your patterns.
    I liked the vlog, I’m 28 and perhaps not your target audience! You come accross as very warm and maternal, it was comforting.

    I'm impressed by your craft space . So lovely. I live in Arizona in the US. I have a summer home and a winter home so in winter I do have a small craft room. In my summer home I have a very large bed room which is also my craft room, not the best situation but it works for me. The heat in Arizona drives us to the mountains of eastern Arizona where it's cool in the summer. The worse part is deciding what materials I want to take. I do slow stitching and watercolor painting and some junk journaling. I've slowly divided my materials and split my materials . I also like to knit and crochet. Makes my life interesting. Living in the desert and living in the forest.

      I'm very lucky. The heat in central Az is very intense. It can get up to 120 degrees F. Luckily I do indoor crafts. Lately I've been thinking about crouching some shawls for winter and summer here in the mountains where it gets chilly in the evenings. Your crochet inspired me to do that after I saw your projects thank you for that. Happy crocheting.🌵🌻🌲

I’ve just started the new beach walk for youngest granddaughter, nearly 10 and I’ve just received the wool to do the cherry blossom for eldest granddaughter 13 next month. You may have stimulated me to have a bit of a tidy because my studio is a hot mess lol. I love the yarn all on display. Sadly, I am wool hoarder and although I am a Brit I currently live in the US in Louisiana, so I cannot leave any of mine out due to all the tropical pests that can and sometimes do make it into my house. I look forward to returning to Scotland soon. Also, today its over 94 degrees in Louisiana and it isn't even really summer yet. So, seeing the lovely countryside and cool wind makes me long for home. Also not crocheting or knitting anything large right no due to the aforementioned Heat. The work is gorgeous, and I love the light in the studio and that glorious French door.

      @@midgeporter7495 It’s been a long, hard journey as you will know yourself, Midge. I’ve watched your Instagram posts, setting up your craft market stands, with a good deal of nostalgia. That was our life every weekend from 1988 to 2010. We used to double up to two fairs a weekend, with a mid week one sometimes too. At that time I also had a bricks and mortar shop/gallery, a mail order business (before the internet), then a website. Oh, and I taught three evening classes and two day classes in embroidery just to ensure that sleep was way down the list of priorities!
      This was all because my husband had given up his secure teaching job to be in the business with me, and with two kids at school looking to go to uni and a mortgage to pay, we HAD to make it work. I scaled well back on the craft fairs though, when we started doing trade fairs in 1998, and that was when the business really took off.
      I think your stands look brilliant, and though it’s a slog to set up and take down, you get a real buzz from talking to your customers, don’t you?😊

      @@Woolthreadpaint thank you so much. I think I am reaching that stage of moving on from craft fairs now and I have really enjoyed being part of some of the larger yarn festivals. • @Woolthreadpaint
      @Woolthreadpaint  2 місяці тому +1

      @@midgeporter7495 Yes that was the way we went. We cut back on the smaller fairs, concentrating on the larger ones, like the West End fair during the Edinburgh Fringe (seven days a week for three weeks was quite an experience) Country Living and the Highland Show, for example. Latterly we just did those three, as well as the Trade Fairs and that was enough! I could see you having great success at the Yarn Festivals and the big Creative Craft shows at the SECC are worth trying. We used to exhibit at the Creative Craft Christmas events and they were really good.

      @@Woolthreadpaint thank you for great suggestions of new places to try. Last year I was at Yarndale and The Scottish Yarn Festival. This year I have done 'Tangled' in Galashiels, The Cumbrian Wool Gathering, and I will be at The North East Wool Show and The Scottish Yarn Festival again. It is always great to hear which shows to try and hopefully next year I will build up to a trade fair. Not quite sure how that works though.

    I enjoyed your studio tour very much. Lovely space and wonderful home. Have you ever made a granny square blanket with cotton yarn? I have had gorgeous colors of Cascade Ultra Pima dk on my shelf for years and finally decided to make a sunburst granny square blanket with it, probably queen sized. My concern, of course, is whether my ends will find their way out after sewing them in. I know i can probably trim them every once in a while because i am crocheting over, and sewing in, long ends. 😊

    • @Woolthreadpaint
      @Woolthreadpaint  3 місяці тому

      Hi, no I tend to steer clear of cotton yarn as it hurts my hands. As long as the ends are securely sewn in (I weave each one in three directions) you can safely trim any little bits that pop out later.
