- Опубліковано 10 лип 2014
- [2014-05-23.] A quick video showing how to replace the flasher in a 3rd gen Toyota 4Runner. The flasher is being upgraded to an LED compatible model in order to avoid the use of wasteful load resistors.
Update, 2022-06-30, captions (subtitles) have been added to the video. If it's hard to hear or understand due to the poor audio quality, enable captions. Captions can also be translated to other languages.

Note that for this vehicle, you will need to buy the European flasher model not the Japanese. - Авто та транспорт
Hey everyone, check out the 5 year follow up video where I show how the light mod turned out: ua-cam.com/video/t8tbXwEdi8g/v-deo.html

Hey thanks, your video made it a ten minute job for me...And there was a video that started automatically after this one that explain how to just quickly take the old flasher apart, quickly clean the contacts, and then snap back together. This means that those of us who want to replace the flasher because it is not working properly (as opposed to those who are upgrading to LED lights) can do so for free!
Did this on my '01 4Runner with all LED bulbs. I used a EP35 flasher relay with the 'B' and 'E' pins opposite and it still works :)
Thanks for the vid!
Cool, that's good information to know about the B and E pins! Thanks for watching!
Very helpful. This is just what I needed, but I didn't know about such a part. Now I've got it installed and my turn signals work just like before.
Thank you managed to find the darn relay and switch it out without too much swearing and managed only to lose my husband's 10mm socket down some rabbit hole which lead me to buy my own toolbox. I never would have found the darn relay if I hadn't found your video! So in conclusion my 14 year old told me, "Mom everything you need to know you can find on UA-cam."
Thank you so much for the positive comment! I'm glad my video was able to be helpful to you
super straight forward thanks!
This helped me tremendously thank you so much, couldn’t find your part number on Amazon though. But I did find this part #CF14 JL-02 with the same BEL pattern and it worked!
Thanks for the tip 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Great vid; I watched it on my phone in an Autozone parking lot. It was a $8 part. The only 'trick' was getting to the upper fuse box 10mm bolt. Rather than go under the dash, I pushed the plastic panel next to the dashboard (by the left vent) to the right about an inch which let me easily get to the bolt.
Ridiculously hard to get to the upper bolt. Wish I knew what you were referring to so I could use your strategy. I'm on a 06 tundra
99Yota same here , what a pain that one was ..other than that, the whole process wasn't too bad
Thank you
Nice job amigo
Cool !!
Any idea on where the flasher relay is located in the 2011 Toyota Tundra???
*What's the difference between the EP35 and EP35C relays? I got an EP35 off of rockauto for use with LED signals and such, but was just curious if I should use the EP35C instead...*
Wait … to replace mine with the LED-friendly relay I just reached under the dash and pulled it out and plugged the new one in. No need to take the lower panel off! If you can’t find it, turn on the blinker, then feel up under the dash for the box that vibrates every time the relay clicks. Done in 5 min!
I suppose that's another way but it is quite a tight fit down there. You could also use a mirror to help you locate the right one.
I just wanted to be doubly sure for this video that I pulled the right component and also I couldn't really film a video easily without removing the trim piece.
Here's the link I mentioned in my post below for the video on just repairing the flasher relay: I mentioned in my post below: ua-cam.com/video/KlVSNX_NaOs/v-deo.html
artiepenguin1. How in the world is your driver floor mat still in good shape ???
Thanks for the compliment, I'm not quite sure - I guess Toyota's floor mats from then were made well, I also try not to enter cars with dirty shoes
my right corner light is not working. Its not the bulb because i tested it with new bulb. Which one is the relay for the right corner light??
It's not a relay its actually the entire blinker switch mechanism in the steering wheel itself. Easy fix takes 10 minutes
@@jameselroy7472 how?
McLoving or Fogel explanation 😅
Does this work for a 2019 4runner?
The procedure and location will likely be different since that's a later generation vehicle. I'd recommend looking up information online on forums for detailed instructions more pertinent to the 2019 model.
