- "Yours is but to do and die... yours is not to question why!", explains H.H. Swami Chinmayananda, while addressing the armed forces on two significant aspects of their profession in this dialogue - "Duty and way of life"
With astute clarity, he outlines the importance of the way of life by resounding to the armed forces to follow the golden path laid out by our pristine culture: Dharma (values), Artha (wealth), Kama (pleasures) and Moksha (the goal of life). By emphasizing the value of guarding the integrity of the nation, our borders, he appeals to the armed forces to always maintain "Nation above self" by staying loyal only towards the nation.
The clarion call of the Master is to have in all of us a sound value system, which will eventually determine the quality and texture of our thoughts and thereby our actions. He advocates developing a deep sense of love towards our country, which can be an invaluable ideal to dispel an individual's 'ego' and 'selfishness'.
Swami Chinmayananda is a world-renowned Vedantin; a powerful orator who has been instrumental in bringing spirituality to the masses, via practical and applicable teachings such as this dialogue.

Best contemporary interpreter of Hindu scriptures. What a great teacher. He sorely missed in this world.
Very interesting for every one. Pranams n Prostrations pujya Swami ji.
I only regret that I was not fortunate enough to listen to Gurudev's lectures live, when he was alive.I have seen/heard many of his videos on UA-cam, pertaining to Bhagavad-Gita, Viveka chudamani, Upanishads (Kaivalya & Katha) and many more with rapt attention. He is a Master narrator ,his unequivocal control on the English language is superb. Well I can only offer my respectful pranams to him who is eternally present as an inspiration in his disciples in the Chinmaya mission.
Thank you
Same here.

@ 6:40 "amoral if actions are from individual's own selfish desires" - yeah, but not IF the action you do is from a well-cultivated intellect (or "some universal power" 12:40) to know what's right and merging what you should do with what you want to do - ... "no selfishness at all..." to a certain point (in (some of) our evolution), then to take it one step higher (isha.sadhguru.org/us/en/wisdom/article/stop-being-stingy-with-selfishness)
