So I'm finally starting to understand the format for the RCA Painting portfolio but I'll probably have to wait another month before I understand what's going on with my portal login haha.
If anyone is wondering who I am, I’m a graduate from University of the Arts London (I did a Painting BA at Wimbledon, graduated in 2018) and I’m here to simply communicate as much useful information as I can to the masses and document my career as an artist. I try my best to speak about only what I know of and a thank you to all those supporting the channel so far, it has literally been built mostly from the interactions with the UA-cam community.

And regarding the format of my portfolio section, you don't need to worry if you signed up to their "portal" this year. Your section should be correct if you signed up recently. If you signed up last year you need to complete the section 1 again and it should fix the format of the portfolio section specific to your own course.

Hey man, I’m a second year student at the RCA. Just to give some tips and a little look at my old interview application progress! So it made sense that they emailed you late as the communications team are absolute trash and take forever! I did a job for Snapchat in June and I’m still waiting on payment... ANYWAY! the overall online process is just the first step. When I applied they asked for twenty projects. I chose a lateral amount of work as this was obviously for an optic into my work- they wanted to see different mediums, different spaces of academic thought, not only creative. Also, I started my digital application with an image of my studio space, as the point of an MA, especially an arts one is to actualise your working model and strategy. You’re not just there to make artwork. You’re there to understand WHY you make the artwork, and all of this ‘stuff’ is situated in the very place where you make it... your table and books, and images you surround yourself with. Don’t be afraid to break the portfolios rules, afterall the portfolio looks a certain way because of the institution of employability, not creativity. When it came to the physical interview (when you get that far!) they’ll ask for more work to supplement the portfolio provided online. So being someone who benefits more from physical communication with others, I had taken two suitcases of work (and all my sketchbooks) as well as a duffel bag of other bits and bobs. I wanted to emanate the idea of a show and tell as work to me, is both the viewers as well as my own. We talked and didn’t sit down, always moving around the interview space, smiling, pointing and talking. The best news I’d heard was that I was going to get an unconditional into the school and now I’m still there and I love it. Best of luck man, hope this helped

Hey! I'm currently a freshman planning on applying to the RCA when I graduate. Are there any AP classes or community services I need to take in order to be eligible?

And what about the scholarships? I don't know what to do about this, they tell me that only those who sent their application in the first round can access them...
I'll also enter in January, the second round, because I confused the stages 1 and 2 and the round 1 and 2 and the Pebble Pad and so on...
I understand that there are recruitment offices (?) that help you with your application and all the bureaucratic procedures, I don't know if this particular university has an agreement with any advice office.
I'm a bit lost, if you have any information to share about this it will be very helpful!

Hello, I also got rejected from RCA MA painting!!!! :DD anyway, do you think is it appropriate to use apps like Canva to create a digital portfolio for such prestigious art schools?
Of course! It's just a program to create digital files, Canva could create a whole professional art catalogue if you needed to make one. The importance is the design and content.
Are you on instagram if you can give insight to your works as what type of works they are expecting
10-15 images of work in a maximum of 15 pages pdf. Does that mean we could only include 1 work per page?
No I don't think so, the layout of the page is up to you so you can display more than one if needed.
