Sometimes people forget that Gandalf is a Maiar in human form, sent by Manwe to challenge Sauron... because he was afraid... and the only one to succeed in his task. Saruman failed, the Blue Wizards poofed, and Radagast became more concerned about the wilds. But Gandalf not only was resurrected, because he showed true heroism and sacrifice... against the Balrog of Morgoth, but also because he was always true to his task... never faltered. And then Aragorn not only has the honor of being his friend, but is crowded by an angel, or minor god... what ever the Maia are. It's just so impossible to describe how everything in this franchise seems like an ancient epic legend whose mysteries we cannot fully comprehend. So mystical. So beautiful.
Because that is how JRR Tolkien intended it to be. The events of Middle Earth is supposed to be *our* ancient history, and within the canon, Tolkien didn't write the novels, rather he found the Red Book Of Westmarch (it's the book you see Bilbo and later Frodo writing in Bag End) and was somehow able to translate it and then later on released it as "Fantasy" novels

I swear, every song in LOTR is just epic or heartbreaking. Pippin with 'Edge of Night', the dwarves in The Hobbit with 'The Misty Mountain Cold', and aragorn with this. One of the best things about these movies was the music.
***** This week starting on Thursday I will be playing with Symphony Silicon Valley in San Jose, performing the music live onstage in concert with the movies being screened behind us, the choir, and singers. This is such an awesome gig!!!
That's what all parents do. They become parents knowing one day that they must fail in that duty to have their children become adults and go out on their own and find their own fulfillment and bliss.
When Aragorn says "my friends, you bow to no one" and the music starts, I still get shivers even after all these years. I was 11 when the first LOTR movie came out in 2001 and to this day I can still re-watch them without getting bored. The actors, the art direction, the OUTSTANDING music... Thank you Mr. Tolkien and Mr. Jackson for your outstanding work.
''May they be blessed.'' Such a peaceful line, and when Aragorn starts singing I can truly feel like I'm there with them, in that world, listening to something his predecessor said thousands of years ago.
There was a time when noone believed that Tolkien's masterpiece could ever be brought on screen. Peter Jackson is pure genius and this movie will always be a big pleasure to watch. Just like I did yesterday. =)
Lorenzo Gullotta All endings are sad, but there remains hope for the future if the end comes from love and kindness. Dry your tears, for our days are not yet ended, and there is time for us yet to make good what we have.
Watching Lord of the Rings in it's entirety is almost like a religious experience to me. It's so inspiring and heart wrenching, it never loses it's magic for me.
Elrond's face is so sad when he has to give up Arwen. He looks like he's about to cry. I mean, he's literally saying good-bye to his daughter, he's probably not going to see her again because he's going across the Sea to Valinor, and Arwen's going to eventually die a mortal's death. So yeah, they might not see each other again...ever.
His expressions is perfect. And the way Legolas moves his eyes to indicate Arwen is perfect. And her laugh is perfect. And his joy is perfect. And the music is perfect. And my tears are perfect damnit! These are some of the best minutes put on film ever.
Oh my goodness, that face starting around 2:43! That reluctance to give up his daughter mingled with the knowledge of his daughter's happiness is captured so well in this scene. Elrond may be one of the most esteemed elf lords, but he's still a father.
Yeah, I also thought of Beren and Luthien when I saw this scene. I'm sure Elrond realized this when he watched this reunion too, having lived in the First Age. Such a beautiful moment. But having read The Silmarillion numerous times, I realize that it would take a dozen movies, at least, to convey the scale of events that arose in that age... I would love and fully appreciate such an endeavor, but it doesn't seem feasible at this time,, :( But one can dream right?? ;)
All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king.
I swear does anybody notice how arwen's father looks like he will break apart any second when he sees his daughter finally see the love of her life again at 2:40
+Patricia Scotman Hey man, Elrond (Arwen's father) knows if she goes with Aragorn, then she give up Elven immortality. He will see her dead and not only that, she will live long before he husband (elves still live very long even if mortal). (thus a long grieving life without her love) She could have chosen to live forever in the Greylands with him and the rest of the dying (aka lost of earthly power) elves.
I can't believe they didn't mess it up. I'm so used to things now not living up to the hype GOT season 8, Star Wars episode 9. This series started high and built each movie and stuck the landing.
@@Big_Steve11 martin sopped working with them once they got past season 5 i think gave them vague notes and went back to his hermit cave, the show runners where the only creative voices hence why it became disjointed and sloppy after then
They planned all 3 movies ahead. Unlike game of thrones where they just made shit up as they went with it. What a disaster. And star wars was more about promoting their own franchise and selling new toys. Ugh, how many times did they try to make the ice foxes try and look cute and funny? Hell yeah my kid brother wanted that toy
He sang Elendil's Oath. Elendil (Aragorn's ancestor) said these words when he came to Middle-earth after the destruction of the island Numenor. "Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come. In this place I will abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world." The depth of Tolkien's works is amazing.
It's more than 10 years since I saw these films for the first time, and scenes like this never, ever fail to make me emotional, no matter how many times I have rewatched them.
No words to explain this trilogy. Actors, director, story adaptation, soundtracks... it's all perfect. I only can say: LORD OF THE RINGS DESERVED THE OSCAR and this trilogy can't be remade in the future , it's an unique master piece.
Andrew Hill already did and I watch their videos then I can say: Some movies like LOTR, the criticism are irrelevant. People expect perfection, but mistakes always happen. So, I'm not an annoying nerd that complain about everything, I'm a calm and balanced guy that know how to appreciate the good things in life and forgive minor mistakes. Cinema Sins isn't a channel to be taken seriously, but with sense of humor.
Andrew Hill Cinema Sins is a channel dedicated to nitpicking. I mean, seriously. Have you seen the Back To The Future analysis? They don't do this seriously. I take all of their videos with a grain of salt. There are some truly bad films out there and they do dissect them properly, but a moderately faithful adaption of a book written fifty years ago, to excellent effect, isn't worth a video that is, quite literally, just a tongue-in-cheek scalpel test.

The original Star Wars trilogy were good, the prequels not so much, and the Harry Potter films were enjoyable enough... but they don't hold a candle to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
+PsychosisFire What about the Hobbit Trilogy? Same as the Star Wars prequels. For me The Hobbit was OK. LOTR was spectacular. The Hobbit was good. Loved that I was back in Middle Earth, but not as good or epic is LOTR.
+Hossein salamat Actually Star Wars is a fictional past too. In the beginning of all the movies it says, A long time ago in a galaxy far far away.... A LONG TIME AGO
In one single scene, a perfect example of Jackson's genius: the humility of power and recognition that even the most unlikely ones can make a difference between light and darkness. And when he bows to of them, it's the biggest tearjerker in the whole modern history of Hollywood.
i'm so proud of humankind... to make this absolutely perfect trilogy. thank you all.. and my special thanks to Mr.Tolkien. i hope you are seeing white shores, and beyond.. a far green country , under a swfit sunrise.
4:11 The Music, atmosphere, shot, just everything was perfect. What a trilogy, what an ending, what a truely EPIC journey through middle earth. And some people say Game of Thrones is better...
I never thought I'd cry... I swear I really didn't think I would. I also didn't expect to be a hardcore JRR Tolkien fan, I only just started watching these movies for practically the first time now (the actual first time doesn't count because i was really young) and here I am... crying my eyes out... how could no one cry at the moment they bowed? oh my god... I'm about to read the books too, now. This world is just... wow
2:35 Look at Elrond's expression, changing from happines to sadness, from letting her daughter to go find love to knowing he will lose her. I mean really, look! It's like he's really there. Excellent acting.
I just noticed it. Aweee :'( Ps. sad moments for me were when my 4 other favorite characters where killed, Legolas reaction too Tauriel grieving and now this Elrond scene. Also... love love love Thranduil
I love Arwen and Aragorn's reunion, it's a lovely little moment, but can you imagine being a commoner who doesn't quite know the full backstory of those two? "Why are they dramatically approach-oh wait they are kissing. Do you think they know each other or did he just pick an elven concubine? Yeah, I think they know each other." Also, to those arguing about Arwen or Aragorn being prettier, let's be honest: it's a godsdamn tie. As a kid I thought Arwen was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, and Aragorn made me feel things. Oh man, these movies.
Viggo sang this with such grace, with his baritone voice. His deep timbre makes the spirit swell, as if you were in Minas Tirith, at his coronation, in person. It is a work of true, pure magic. The magic, grace, and beauty of the human spirit. "My friends, you bow to no one". - Aragorn The most profound quote from this movie, among the list from the work of Tolkien. ❤
"Out of the great sea to middle earth I have come, in this place will I abide and my heirs, unto the ending of the world" -The Númenorean King that founded Gondor and Arnor
Hugo Weaving's nonverbal acting is awesome in this scene. The way he looks overwhelmed with happiness looking between Aragorn and the daughter he's "giving away." It reminds me of my sister's wedding, watching my father do the same thing.
He gives a little whisper to her. I think he's saying "Go to him." He tried for two movies to get Arwen to give up her relationship and now he has to watch her leave with the knowledge that she will die a mortal, but it's worth it to him because his little girl finally gets her wish.
Elronds face gets me every time. When you understand the weight of it you cannot help but be left in awe by the story Tolkien wrote. I hope he is sitting next to Manwë right now writing poems and great tales
Omg, I love how Merry, Frodo and Sam are all "wow". And then there's Pippin, who could only think "Finally getting the fucking respect I deserve from these idiots."
The Halls of Mandos are closed to the Children of Men, but our path is not that of the Eldar. We have a life beyond the World, that which the Valar made at Eru's bidding. It is the Gift of Eru Iluvatar to us to leave the World behind, the desire for which the Firstborn may envy at The End of Time.
Anyone else notice when Legolas and all the Elves walk forward 2:12 one of those guards is like a foot taller than all of them? How big is that guy, he's huge!
This ending scene not only gives me goosebumps everytime but i get really teary eyed. I am truly glad i was able to witness such an epic film trilogy in theaters as a child. LOTRs will forever be my favorite trilogy ever.
I had to watch this scene twice to comprehend it's unparalleled greatness. On my second time viewing for the first time in my life tears of awe were flowing down my cheeks... How beautiful and captivating this was cannot not be explained in words...
I have become very numb to pain and depression. Somedays I come here to watch this scene which still makes me shed a tear. That's how I know that I'm still alive inside.
It’s truly a testament to Aragorn’s humility that after he JUST became King of Gondor, he approaches the hobbits and tells them “My friends…you bow to NO ONE!” Truly a King of Kings. LOTR Trilogy is a masterpiece that will always be legendary
None of you managed to grasp that the standard carried by Arwen is that of the White Tree of Gondolin in the colour of Beryl (that is the mingled light of the Two Trees through Emerald in a lesser gem that is named "Elfstone"), and the standard of Turgon, the forefather of both Elrond and Aragorn through Idril Celebrindal his daughter and Dior Eluchil, the son of Beren Erchamion and Luthien Tinuviel and their descendants. My word, the significance for we Edain.
No, but i do now...I need to educate myself more in the Tolkien lore, from a man who never finished it in his life time, because it was too vast even for his mind. But apart from that one thing, the film's are all above par and correlate with the books HaHaHa A* for effort
cleeton1989 I suggest the "History of Middle-Earth" as a stunning insight into the life of JRRT. Even those who missed a university education are moved by his works in those days.
Every Thanksgiving, my friends and I get together to watch the extended editions of these movies. We watch from 8:00 in the morning to 8:00 at night. We even eat in the same schedule as hobbits do, and have specific food items for the meals. But every time we get to the end of this movie, it never ceases to bring a tear to my eye. I love these movies so much.

The fact is... he is like blessed by the heavens to be king... basically.
Never thought of that!
+superblahmanofdoom what happened to the blue wizards they died??

It's just so impossible to describe how everything in this franchise seems like an ancient epic legend whose mysteries we cannot fully comprehend. So mystical.
So beautiful.
Because that is how JRR Tolkien intended it to be. The events of Middle Earth is supposed to be *our* ancient history, and within the canon, Tolkien didn't write the novels, rather he found the Red Book Of Westmarch (it's the book you see Bilbo and later Frodo writing in Bag End) and was somehow able to translate it and then later on released it as "Fantasy" novels
@@AceTheSkylord Woah! Did the books ever stated that?
@@asturianix9820 Tolkiem explicitly wrote in the Foreword to the LOTR books that these were translations
@@asturianix9820 you should do more research on him. He was trying to create a mythology for England because the normans destroyed nearly all of it when they defeated the Anglo Saxons and took England in 1066. The shire was influenced by where he lives in rural England. It was first used when the Anglo Saxons settled and they’re only used in the English speaking world especially England.
It was supposed to be prehistoric England actually
I swear, every song in LOTR is just epic or heartbreaking. Pippin with 'Edge of Night', the dwarves in The Hobbit with 'The Misty Mountain Cold', and aragorn with this. One of the best things about these movies was the music.
***** This week starting on Thursday I will be playing with Symphony Silicon Valley in San Jose, performing the music live onstage in concert with the movies being screened behind us, the choir, and singers. This is such an awesome gig!!!
DaviD LEVINCi Middle-earth was created by the music of the Ainur. I believe music is the main source of life in Tolkien's universe :)
Hugo Weaving was great as Elrond in this scene. His facial expression looked just like a father on his daughter's wedding day.
well he is Hugo Weaving...=]
Well the royal event planners must have slept for a week after putting together that day!
he gave away his daughter but also lost his immortal daughter that day to a mortal existence. He lost a lot.
That last sentence is Elrond's life in a nutshell (...except it isn't, because he still is wise and selfless and "kind as summer"...)
I still don't understand why Elrond didn't destroy the ring himself on Mount Doom?
2:44
He's giving away his baby. His eyes, though he knows her sorrowful fate, he still gives her away. So much love.
That's what all parents do. They become parents knowing one day that they must fail in that duty to have their children become adults and go out on their own and find their own fulfillment and bliss.
Fate of every father who have a daughter
Great actor and also in 3:24 there is so much sentiment in his facial expressions
It is d most emotional scene to me in the trilogy
When Aragorn says "my friends, you bow to no one" and the music starts, I still get shivers even after all these years. I was 11 when the first LOTR movie came out in 2001 and to this day I can still re-watch them without getting bored. The actors, the art direction, the OUTSTANDING music... Thank you Mr. Tolkien and Mr. Jackson for your outstanding work.
ANDDDD "Howard Shore", that makes a complete fellowship of the franchise
''May they be blessed.'' Such a peaceful line, and when Aragorn starts singing I can truly feel like I'm there with them, in that world, listening to something his predecessor said thousands of years ago.
There was a time when noone believed that Tolkien's masterpiece could ever be brought on screen. Peter Jackson is pure genius and this movie will always be a big pleasure to watch. Just like I did yesterday. =)
Peter Jackson, one of the ten elves that forsook their paradise- the grey havens. Thank 😊 🙏 you Peter.

'Yes, you should bow down to me, peasants!' Is what I bet Pippin is thinking.

Monika Radovesnicka SHUT UP BISH
Watching Lord of the Rings in it's entirety is almost like a religious experience to me. It's so inspiring and heart wrenching, it never loses it's magic for me.
The same with me, brother!
I don't even know what to say to that. That makes me feel really upset for him but then I realise he must have spent so long with her
His expressions is perfect.
IronGiant2790 I watched the whole LOTR trilogy about 10-15 times, and I've never looked at Elrond in this scene. Thank you! It brought me to tears :)
Aragorn will die and Arwen will go to Valinor and die there because of sorrow.(Yes Arwen lies about her life.)
Fun fact: Viggo Mortensen is now older than Ian McKellen was when this scene was filmed.

Liv Tyler is so beautiful in this scene. Having read the Silmarillion she epitomizes the appearance of a Noldor Elf. She's just radiant.
I like how she is carrying a banner of the white tree.
When I first saw this scene I realized that a film about Beren and Luthien would work and be amazing.
Craig Brasco too bad Tolkein's Estate has banned any more Middle Earth Films
Yeah, I also thought of Beren and Luthien when I saw this scene. I'm sure Elrond realized this when he watched this reunion too, having lived in the First Age. Such a beautiful moment. But having read The Silmarillion numerous times, I realize that it would take a dozen movies, at least, to convey the scale of events that arose in that age... I would love and fully appreciate such an endeavor, but it doesn't seem feasible at this time,, :( But one can dream right?? ;)
actually 25-50% Noldo. Tuor was a Man, Earendil also, and they were Elronds forefather and father. But of Noldor were the wives.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,

A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
(thus a long grieving life without her love)
She could have chosen to live forever in the Greylands with him and the rest of the dying (aka lost of earthly power) elves.
@@CiceroTheSage Except that Arwen died of heartbreak after Aragorn's death. Sad stuff :(

I can't believe they didn't mess it up. I'm so used to things now not living up to the hype GOT season 8, Star Wars episode 9. This series started high and built each movie and stuck the landing.
I mean they did have all the books as the source material, though it did take six years of extremely hard work from so many people.
@@usul573 Game of Thrones had the actual author of the books working with the showrunners, until they decided to end it early

They planned all 3 movies ahead. Unlike game of thrones where they just made shit up as they went with it. What a disaster. And star wars was more about promoting their own franchise and selling new toys. Ugh, how many times did they try to make the ice foxes try and look cute and funny? Andrew Hill already did and I watch their videos then I can say: Some movies like LOTR, the criticism are irrelevant. People expect perfection, but mistakes always happen.

It’s truly a testament to Aragorn’s humility that after he JUST became King of Gondor, he approaches the hobbits and tells them “My friends…you bow to NO ONE!”
Truly a King of Kings.
