#Windrush Anniversary On 21st June 1948 SS Empire Windrush arrived in the UK full of Caribbean immigrants determined to provide a better life and opportunities for them and generations to come. They sure did.

They weren't invited. The first the Government knew about it was when the Windrush was half way from Jamaica.
A war correspondent aboard the ship on the way home from Canada telegraphed London offering to catalogue the nationalities on board to save time processing the passengers on arrival at Tilbury. And the Government was like, wait, what
Within hours of their arrival there was an emergency convening of Parliament to discuss not only what to do with these people but as to whether they could lawfully prevent any further immigrants from making the journey.
Doesn't sound to me like a Government which had invited them over.

Yep, my historically accurate fact has just been deleted. This sort of behaviour fuels racism, it doesn't lessen it. It frustrates people who wish to make valid points!!
