- DIY video on how to change, replace bad socket connector for the H11 low beam (daytime) headlamp light bulb on a Ford Fusion S, SE, SEL for the model years 2010, 2011 and 2012. Also works for Mercury Milan, and Lincoln MKZ.
Often times when a light is it, it's the bulb that is too blame. But as these cars age, the plastic bulb socket (connector) begins to disintegrate and fall apart , making a poor intermittent and sometimes no connection. When this happens, your only solution is to replace the old socket with a new socket.
It's a tricky job, but possible. Patience is needed.

I'm about to do the passenger side, I think I'm just going to drop the bumper to get proper access. I'll also likely just replace both while I'm in there. These videos have been a HUGE help for me in the past few days, keep up the great work! Subbed for sure, but let's hope I don't need any more of your videos!
Happy to help - thank you. You can try it first without removing the bumper, but you’ll likely need another set of hands via a helper to do the snipping/holding/crimping etc.
Is it possible to have blown a fuse? I just twisted the wires together the first time but the wire obviously aren’t color coded. Light bulb came on and burnt out. Got a new bulb and tried again and it’s not working now.
Hi. A blown fuse is possible, but you’ll likely have more than one bulb out. I don’t have my files with me, so I can’t check, but wanted to reply to you quickly. Try squeezing the connector and see if the bulb lights up, if it does it is a 100% sign that the connector is faulty.
@@HandyVal thank you very much for the quick reply I’ll check that out
Is it possable to put electrical tape on the whole wire 2 black wires or that wont help keep the connection?
@@alextaylor1882 It can work well too, but you need to make sure the wires are twisted together and the electrical tape is nicely wrapped around the wires. Doing so, will make it hold. It won’t hold as long as the method shown in the video, which is a more permanent method.
@HandyVal I'll give it a shot. Hopefully it can stop it from going out at all.
Can this work on the other side as well? It's harder to get to that light vs the one you did. For me personally it's harder for me to get to even turning the tire all the way to one side to get to it.
The other side (passenger side) is a lot more trickier to do this. You’ll need to disconnect the coolant reservoir, not the hoses, just it’s connection to the car. It will afford you more space but will be tight. I never tried replacing the bulb connector on the passenger side. My video on how to replace the bulbs shows how this can be done to replace the bulbs, which can be helpful for connector replacement. Link here: ua-cam.com/video/4HPftU3qR5c/v-deo.html
@HandyVal I'll give it a try. The passenger side had just started doing this and I did take the light off and put it back on just for it to happen again. Does the video show what tools I'll need?
My video on how to replace the bulbs shows how to loosen the coolant tank and shows the tools needed. Keep me updated.
@HandyVal Thank you. I'll let you know when I get the tools. Something tells me I'm going to need them more now than before.
What if the car is missing the black wire? Can I just connect it to any metal?
