It's crazy how Vince considered Macho Man "old" when in modern times he relied on guys in their 40's and 50's like Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, Undertaker in main event runs. Hell, even today CM Punk, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and LA Knight are north of 40 and in prominent spots.

Can you imagine if Vince just allowed him to continue wrestling and use him to put on bangers and elevate the younger stars to be? Then again it was all the bad decisions that led to WCW beating WWE so decisively that they had no choice but to pivot to the product that would soon become the attitude era
It’s kinda ridiculous that Vince wouldn’t let Randy Savage wrestle because he was 40. Meanwhile look at many wrestlers who are at or near the age 40 today, still at the top of their game.
It really wasn't. 40 in the 90s isn't what it is these days, especially for athletes. Also wrestlers are protected far more these days in ring than back then.
Macho Man going to WCW was a good thing he still had a lot to offer in the ring with up coming new Stars.....Vince being stubborn and not useing him was stupid....WCW good or bad had no trouble useing Macho Man. bottom line he wasn't ready to end his career.
I wasn't as big of a fan of Savage after the retirement match. The black hair, cowboy hat and streamers never worked for me. The 3 star tights, ski goggles and sequined robes version of Savage was always the best.
I love how Macho Man, despite being one of the biggest fruitcakes in wrestling history, is also so understanding and willing as a wrestler. He didn't just want to win, to get championships. 11:25 Macho Man announced as the guest ref for the MSG Bret-Bob match, this is the part that rarely gets covered, mainly cause outside of new york tv most never knew. Its also not spoken about by anyone there, like Bruce, as to what was happening. The raw where Savage interfered to get Bob off Lex, his last, the show was pretaped, commentary dubbed later, , Savage made that rant being sidelined watching, and more comments during rest of show on commentary at Backlund, and the end of the show seemed very weird as shown, as if re-edited to not show what was said/taped since Savage leaving may have already been known was coming, so they scratched airing it. Backlund chicken winged Savage at the announce desk, pics are online, and the angle at survivor series , seemingly, would have lead to Savage taking Bret's place and winning the title at msg. The other option, was Vince wanted Savage to raise the hand of Diesel winning the title, as a passing of torch moment from one generation to next, at msg, and that makes sense given how Vince saw things, , however if you go by Kevin Nash's recollection, he wasn't told about wining the title till after Savage left when called to Vinces house, and seemed to be in response to Savage leaving they made the decision. Noone ever asked anyone about this whole msg scenario, and now only Bruce and maybe Brisco would have knowledge, if can believe ether takes at this point.
I attended that MSG house show with my father and older brother (who gifted me the ticket for my 14th birthday, earlier that month). As cool as it was when Diesel won the title, I wish it had been Savage instead - or that he'd at least been the guest referee, given that I never ended up seeing him in person.

In 1993 Savage was younger then AJ Styles when he main event Blacklash France this year? Styles was six years older!
Harsh living conditions aged wrestlers a lot harder in the past than a lot of current wrestlers. A lot medics equates 10 years in the 80s to be similar to 20+ years now
@manporo5865 So Savage was actually 61 years old.
I don't think AJ was doing lines of coke on a hourly basis like they were in the 80s
@ But still that crazy to think how much time has changed!
@@lastdayonearthmysteryman4849 he was probably on the healthier side, like his body is as good as a 50+ yr old, but a lot of wrestlers had heavy wear and tear. A good example is Stone Cold and how his knees went out near early 40s
Greatest promo ever , greatest finisher ever , greatest costumes ever , greatest sayings ever , top 5 greatest workers ever imo 👍 , my absolute favourite wrestler when I was a kid .
People moan about his "commentary" but I loved it, and his WCW run, not to mention the DDP story. DIG IT!!!
Finally, we get the real story of Macho Man and Stephanie's relationship. 😂
You think 40 isnt old but at the time it was, Randy had something in the tank still and was wasted his last years in WWF but his in ring time was winding down.
One of my favourite tag teams: Sergeant Slaughter & General Wayne Inginterest.
Only wrestler from 80s who will be great at present day wrestling,The Macho Man
Ricky Steamboat!
Steamboat in his prime could do it.
@@mulldrifterz6469 Yes! In his prime he better then entire AEW roster!
@@lastdayonearthmysteryman4849 may be But He lacks the charishma of Machoman
@@mulldrifterz6469 He is the second one.
Oooh yeaaaah macho is my favorite wrestler
I never got how Vince thought Macho Man was past his prime. Look at when he went to WCW. Forget about when he returned towards the end and was huge because of the “vitamins” he was taking haha. He showed how he still had it. One of my all time favorites. Glad I grew up during that era!
Randy has a book... learn something new everyday
I usually see a copy on sale hereabouts in Canada! Done by a longtime Macho fan but I've never picked it up myself.
I'm from the UK so probably gonna be a hard find
he also has a hip hop album
@tricky1992000 I've saw that one with hulk hogan Diss track 😂
Insecure, jealous, envious, diva The Macho Woman Randy Savage. The bystander, follower. Hulk leads, led, the leader!!!
do we still see Wrestlers promoting products outside of whenever Smackdown/Raw is running?
Because I feel like I don't see Commercials featuring wrestlers outside of Mondays/Fridays.
The only reason I mention is because those Slim Jim commercials with Randy used to run all over the place at all times of the day.
Awesome work as always lads
Brilliant video!
New here ; Sick intro . Ohhhhhhh Yeeeeeeeeeeeaahhhhhhh.
Well done Jack another great upload 👏
Vince doesn’t mind if a wrestler leaves, as long as they give him proper notice. This is why hall, Nash, flair etc were welcome back with open arms. Meanwhile rude, Luger, and savage were essentially blackballed.
That's correct. I've always said that about those three who remained outside of the Hall of Fame. That's why.
@@BigBadJerryRogers Rick Rude and Randy Savage were inducted into the hall of fame posthumously the only reason Lex isn't in is because Vince doesn't like people in wheelchairs on the stage
@@stewartmcrae8007 exactly he waited for them to die first. That was intentional. I doubt if it's the wheelchair thing if they put people who are deceased in. They're in coffins.
@@BigBadJerryRogers yes but they aren't appearing on stage in caskets unless the undertaker is inducting them or something. I have heard from several people that Vince doesn't like people in wheelchairs. I don't think that he did wait until they passed well maybe he did in savages case that is entirely possible but definitely not in Rudes remember he passed during the attitude era when they didn't have a hall of fame event like they do now plus he had appeared on WCW television Vinces biggest competitor ever just before so it wouldn't have made sense to induct him in the early 2000s
Great video. Thanks again
I'm an 80s kid and grew up during the Hulkamania era. As the years go on I'm more and more convinced he was the greatest wrestler of the era and one of the greatest of all time. By that I mean wrestling ability, promos, charisma, and generally fascinating personality taken as a whole. Really sucks how Vince can screw people over based on personal whims. And really, Vince can go screw himself for thinking Savage should remain loyal despite being sidelined regardless of how good he still was.
Its amazing how wrestlers untill this day pay tribute to macho man. Like cm punk bayley and others
Rightfully so. If it weren't for guys like Savage, Hogan, Andre the giant, Piper and the undertaker there wouldn't be Punk and Bailey and many others.
Because they know he's one of the greats , and it's respect .
Honestly I think if Savage had gone to Vince and said "Look, you want to go with youth and that's fine, but if you don't want me to wrestle, then I've got to leave and try my luck somewhere else" then there wouldn't have been such a falling out
Actually still would have been feelings like that because Vince McMahon know damn well he was going to go to WCW.
@@attiepollard7847 Vince could have at least argued his case, and Savage wouldn't have lied to him
The ONLY reason Vince got annoyed was Hogan was because Hogan originally said he wouldn't go to WCW
That's a good point but I think Savage felt disrespected so that's why he handled that way. Lanny Poffo said Randy was aware that he probably burned his own bridges at the time he left.
Also…. Bret Hart is only four years younger than Hogan. Bret was 36 in 94.
is that all I thought he was at least 10 years younger Hogan looked old even in the 80s
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Stephanie was sweeeeeeet as pie brother!!!!!!!!!!
From the tower of power, too sweet to be sour...to wcw....whomp whomp
Since Shawn was a heel in 1994 I call that part of the story BS.
I don't byu this story I keep seeing around about how Savage's work declined. He was distracted during his divorce but that guy never had a bad match in his life. And Flair was 3 years older and still killing it in the ring. There was nothing wrong with Macho's work.
Thanks 🎉
I love this series
Good video
Great job
RIP macho man randy savage u are missed
Macho Man had a lot more left in the tank. He promised Vince they'd still partner in the slim Jim thing, then reneged. Vince was devastated.
Macho Man would be over in any generation.. Top 5 Dead or Alive
1994 WWF was pure creative hell.
Vince thought Savage was too old but he put the belt on Backlund....
Yeah as a transitional champion
Seriously?!
We could've had Savage vs HBK before 1995? That could have been SO Fuckin Good.
Damn, Vince and his goons were outright Ignorant at times.
It's so weird where in all the eras where wrestlers in the 40s still had a chance to shine, it was Savage who was treated in such a way.
@ that is true now that I think about it.
We all know the real reason why......
Hehehehehehe 😉
Macho Man going to WCW was a good thing he still had a lot to offer in the ring with up coming new Stars.....Vince being stubborn and not useing him was stupid....WCW good or bad had no trouble useing Macho Man. bottom line he wasn't ready to end his career.
My favorite wrestler hands down
I wasn't as big of a fan of Savage after the retirement match. The black hair, cowboy hat and streamers never worked for me. The 3 star tights, ski goggles and sequined robes version of Savage was always the best.
Pretty much the only 1 to leave & never return. Sad really.
I think he did a commercial for either an action figure of his or a WWE 2K game shortly before he passed away
Macho Man is the reason I knew who DDP was. They were amazing together.
Sometimes a company just makes it known because it's like you work inside the belly of the beast and feel it all around.
Even though Macho Man was 41, he had a lot more left in him, and that feud with HBK would have been great
I love how Macho Man, despite being one of the biggest fruitcakes in wrestling history, is also so understanding and willing as a wrestler. He didn't just want to win, to get championships. He wanted to wrestle and was more than willing to lose. He hated Hulk Hogan, but he knew business meant working with him. For all the weirdness and insanity, dude just wanted to be in the lights.
Tbh, Vince could have rebuilt the whole WWF in 93-94 around Savage as the top guy in feuds with Hart, HBK, ect if booked properly.
Stephanie McMahon 😮
One of my all time favorite wrestlers Mr slim Jim himself oooooooyeaaaaaah
Savage was forced into announcing by vince cuz vince thought he was over the hill.
My favorite wrestler of all-time
11:25 Macho Man announced as the guest ref for the MSG Bret-Bob match, this is the part that rarely gets covered, mainly cause outside of new york tv most never knew.
1992 was 1 of WWF's biggest years regarding in-ring product and worldwide success.
Royal Rumble '92 is pretty much everybody's favorite Royal Rumble.
WrestleManiaVIII is an awesome show from beginning to end with 62,127 in attendance.
SummerSlam'92 was the biggest SummerSlam ever.
WWF was soaring during '92. '93 was a mixed bag. '94 is the actual start of the decline.
these wrestling channels on UA-cam and wrestling sites in general are full of crap
How Vince treated Savage in his last few years with the company is shameful. I get that he was punishing him for banging his daughter and was trying to make an example of him, but it was the fans who ultimately suffered. Bret vs Macho at Mania 9 would have been one of the greatest moments of all time.
Wait no mention of the Stephanie McMahon rumours?
All false.
@@PAlt-p6y evidence?
Ain't it! Disappointing
@@fanofbioshock2nolastname861 I don't know if this is true but I heard that Steph was dating one of the hardy boys and Macho let them use his hotel room. maybe Vince or Linda saw her entering or leaving and thought Randy was banging her or maybe one of the boys spotted her and went to Vince about it if the rumours are even true at all
TIL: I was in attendance of the final match of Randy Savage in WWF. I even still have the ticket for the event, and a few (very bad) photos of the match.
Im glad he jumped cause his feud with DDP was legendary
HOW about a episode on Johnny B Badd leaving WCW and going WWE as Marc Mero!
I still remember a mistake they made on a tv graphic on Raw not long after he arrived where it said "Wildman MERO Mero." It was funny.
I know if Carl Froch is watching this he smiled from ear to ear when he heard 80k at Wembley stadium
Finally the Stephanie McMahon rumor is put to rest
But if it was true how Vince felt, considering how some of his crew held onto jobs for decades, had Randy just accepted the role he might have had a job with the WWE for the next twenty years.
I was barely 11 years old at this point and I wanted to be Randy Savage WAY more than I wanted to be Yokozuna or Sean Michaels or Brett Hart
Had the best walk in music land of hope and glory
And now, Ricky Starks is literally being paid by AEW to stay at home and not be used on TV just so that he doesn't jump to WWE. What a time we live in lol
We all know the rumors about Savage and his relationship with Vince, but I always wondered if Vince thought Savage could have taken over running the WWF in some way and that was why he felt so betrayed. Did he view him as a kind of a son or brother in the wrestling business given the fact they both grew up in it.
God I love Randy Savage.
I don't understand the omission of the Stephanie rumors. That was a major part in this story, whether it was true or not.
Because it just is a rumor.
@stardogbillionaire a rumor that no one has denied. Instead, everyone just plays dumb when asked about it.
It's probably true, to act like it's not is to be a soyboy
@@utjason8 the only people who could deny it at this point is Stephanie. And yeah I don’t think you’re getting that close to the billionaire’s daughter.
it's literally a thing that was invented on the internet by random people and passed along over the years... nobody in the business discusses it because for one, no one wanted to run afoul of who was then the big boss, but also because it's a made-up story that people chose to believe just because. At best, it's fan fiction.
