Victrix Pro BFG Controller Review (After 2 Months Of Use)

- This review of the Victrix Pro BFG Controller is after 2 months of on & off use for PC; I got it in early February after waiting through all the delays. I just needed this controller for fighting games and after trying out with mainly Street Fighter V & Guilty Gear Strive, I honestly think this controller isn't worth the expense price tag. There are cheaper less stressful options out there.

You can do it by remapping the controller through the app
Swap the triggers, and map R1 to L1, then you should have the 6 face buttons, and L1/L2 all on the right side. It's exactly how I have mine
Also for the fightpad configuration, I have the details above for the profile plus I unmapped the back paddles completely

Thank you; I really appreciate you explaining this for everyone who has this similar problem. The "swap triggers" options in the configure section of the app definitely helps the fightpad attachment become more useable. I'm sorry again that I didnt realize this when you said it 2 weeks ago.
Dude THANK U! I'll be sure to throw everyone that ask for a review on the controller to your channel. I tried this pad & returned it. The unnatural positioning of ur right thumb is so hard to explain to ppl, then the reaching to damn near the bottom of the controller to press X is a huge mistake on their part. I can go for days on the negatives on this pad.

Hey thank you I appreciate it! Yea honestly the negatives outweigh the positives without question. I was so disappointed with the fightpad, I just felt so defeated becuz that's the main reason I bought this thing. I definitely would love to see what Hori and other companies come up with next, but I definitely won't jump the gun & buy anything as fast as I did with this Victrix controller lol.
I like the controller overall but I wish the triggers just felt like normal triggers that's my biggest issue

Man you solved my doubt! I have that Betop fightpad and was interested in the Victrix, gonna stick with the Betop! But next month they will release the 8bitdo NEO GEO fightpad. You gonna love it bro!
Np bro. Yea honestly this Victrix is a mixed bag imo, probably one of the first controllers where it feels lik your handsize and finger placement matters the most. I'm glad you loving the betop tho; I've been using it for lik a year & a half and it's still working as intended.
I'm thinking about the neo geo, but my only thing is that it has 2 shoulder buttons and I'm not good with relying on my left pointer fingers to do important attacks while my left thumb moves the character. Tho honestly I'm still gonna get it because it looks so good and I've never used a dpad that looked lik that. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@Hacisay I played him in Neo Geo CD, and back there in the 90s he already had the mechanic dpad, the precision is absurd! This new controllers still using rubber... Only the Razer Raion is mechanic dpad but they f*cked up in the pivot. About the shoulder buttons, wil not affect me because I play only King of Fighters and you can press 2 buttons at the same time to emulate the triggers, so I only use the 4 buttons.
@adlerwolf_ Ah ok that's tru it is made for KOF, ill definitely try this with sf6 since the dpad precision from wat u said does sound promising. I've heard ppl say that about the razer raion too, it's a shame. Hopefully some more new fighting controllers come out soon or next year.
ON SF6 SET THE BACK BUTTONS TO GREEN DASH ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND TURN OFF THE LEFT BACK BUTTONS
You can remap the triggers but it's done on the triggers tab not the remappping tab. Its confusing at first but i have my right trigger set to L3.
Maybe they've updated the app, I haven't used the controller in lik 2 months or so tbh. Thx for the info.
I don’t understand why everybody is around this Victrix pas and get disappointed. Have you tried the Hori Octa ?? It’s not so expensive and I really like it. I have PS5 and Xbox version of it. It’s my favorite dpad so far.
Tbh I wouldn't have made a video on the Victrix if it was affordable as the Hori Octa. I love the Hori Octa too; I still have my original xbox ver. I used it all the time when I first got it. I did have to glue back the RT button back on when it unfortunately broke off. The d-pad is good but it is small for how I personally move my thumb in crazy motions. But yea the Hori Octa is better than it gets credit for.
I love my Pro BFG. Never really have had an issue with hitting the trigger release buttons when playing, only when setting it down or picking it up sometimes. Looks like your hands might be too big for this controller unfortunately.
That's a good point, I never thought of the controller being small compared to my hands. The controller does feel fine in my hand and is comfortable; just don't like the trigger switchs. I'm definitely glad this controller works for you.
new firmware update , 1.26 or something, ive just downloaded it but still i do not understand what they fixed now. seems no remappable triggers problem is still here, maybe they just fixed the SOCD on this pad? thanks again for this review man, take care.

I cant make any promises 😅, but it is a great controller I've used it for over a year now. A channel called Frame Counting has a great review called "BEST Six-Button Fightpad Yet? - Betop Thorn Shadow Review"; I bought that controller because of this vid.

@Sir Wander I think I will make a sf6 focused vid with the victrix controller vs the Betop controller; cant guarantee when tho. I've played both the recent sf6 beta & demo with just the victrix, and I think the victrix is a great controller for the sf6 open world/lobby. I did need to train with the victrix in the demo for lik 2 weeks before I felt I was a decent player while using it. Your comments had me thinking about if I might play more comfortable with the betop when it comes to strictly fighting and less so open world/lobby since theres no analog sticks. Thanks again for your suggestion man 💪🏾!

Yea no problem, you can search for "betop beitong wired gamepad" at Aliexpress, and it should be the top result. Granted, since it's coming from China It can take a few weeks before delivery.

@@Muaito you probably should look into one of those brook adapters, they definitelyhave one for ps5. I think I've seen some videos about it working with all types of controllers.
There's a way to swap it the way you want I think. If you go to the settings where it lets you adjust the trigger deadzones, there's a box you can check to swap the triggers.

@CalcioRoma I am so sorry. When you said "Swap triggers" in your original reply where you were explaining things, I thought I could find all those options in terms of button charging in only the "Re-map buttons" section. I'm not gonna lie, I feel like I've never seen the swap trigger option before, everytime I've used the app I've only really brought my attention to the remapping section.
I feel like an idiot for honestly not realizing that there was a secondary option to support the fightpad attachment, but in a different section. I'll be deleting my comment to your first reply and pinning it at the top so ppl can see it. Again I apologize for not understanding what you were telling me the first time. The swap trigger option definitely helps the fightpad attachment; but they still need to let us change the triggers into lik a square or circle press.

Lol I recorded that vid lik 10 times, so I didn't even realize my tongue rolled over the $30 part when I was trying to remember the script in my head.

Please, a question. Is possible to remap the L1 and L2 bottons to R1 and R2.
So I would use only the right hand to push the inputs attack.
Last I checked this was not possible. The software doesn't allow you remap the trigger buttons. I'm not sure how long it would take them to fix this issuse.

I JUST PUT BLACK ELECTRIC TAPE TO SOLVE THAT AGREEE THE BUTTONS ARE DOWN A BIT TOO LOW BUT ITS THE BEST DPAD OPTION DEF NEEDS A BETTER APP TO MOVE THE BUTTONS AROUND
I ended up unscrewing the controller and removing the locking mechanism completely, its way better now. Yea the app still won't let u customize the trigger buttons. I don't bother with the 6-button attachment for this Victrix controller; sf6 plays great with this controller on classic controls. I have my back buttons set to R3 press for EX, tho I find tht I generally press two of the 4 face buttons for an EX move anyway. I'll have to test ur back button setup tht u mentioned for easy green drive rush cancels, Thanks for the suggestion.

Can you map one button to multiple buttons? Like changing r1 to r1+r2?
Nah unfortunately, everything is only single button focused on the software app. I wish it could do macro inputs tho.

@Chris Chand Personally I have no clue 😅, I wouldn't be surprised if wat u said is true tho... I think a youtuber called Frame Counting might have gone over input delays in his vids on this controller.
Whenever I use the fight pad I rest my pointer and middle finger on the buttons
I always found playing "claw style" to be cool. I can't use a controller lik that tho, but I would lik to try leverless if given the opportunity.
You hold the controller incorrectly that's why. Right hand has to be hand over like cabinet style. You don't hold it thumb over
I hear you, but I disagree. A controller is held in the most comfortable way by the user holding it. I held this controller the most natural way my hands wanted to. I don't play claw style, and I dont believe they advertised this controller fightpad attachment with the intent of it being "no thumbs allowed."
Fight pad way of playing is claw style though because its replicates an aracde stick style. But the triggers i have no idea why you keep flicking them i have one now and used it atleast 10-12 hours. Not once did i press the trigger lock button
@@eatdahl I kno & I'm sure alot of ppl play clawstyle on fightpad and that's fine, but im sure theres just as much ppl who use a fightpad like a regular controller as well; nothing wrong with either in the end.
When I hold any controller, I only use my pointer fingers to press the shoulder & trigger buttons, so my middle finger rests in the general space of the trigger switch. I had some ppl say they experience the same as me and others have no issuse like you; it's just different hand sizes & hand placements imo. It's impossible to make a controller that works for every single person as things are now.
@@Hacisay all controllers now ive realised are shit for street fighter, none of them work fully. Whenever you want a move to happen it never works. But everything works perfectly in training
@@Hacisay players who use controllers in tournaments guaranteed have fiddled with them so they work. Any normal controller simply does not work.
I already ordered for Betop C3 Thorn but the seller said it doesn’t work with brook converter on ps5. Please someone help me with an honest answer before i lose money🙏
I personally cant say if it would work because i use pc. I think u should make a reddit post about it; I honestly can't find an answer to this when i search Google. Hope everything works out.
Isn't it possiblet to flip the fightpad style upside down with the fightrpad logo being down instead on top and then remap all the 6 buttons?
Unfortunately nah, the way the fightpad is build it can only be attached the standard way. It physically can't fit any other way on the controller
Is the *trigger not remappable* still a thing or did they fixed it?

im not bothered that victix does not have the L3/L3 button swap switch. Im bothered that for $200 it was not even a thought even going into the UI . This controller I can tell is trash the victrix
It definitely wasn't the great if u were early buyer of this controller. I think they did update the software a bit over the months, and i do also see sort of recent reviews for it. But yea its too expensive forsure

I personally don't have a ps5 lol. I do know that there are brook adapters for ps5 so that you can use almost any fightpad or stick. Honestly I think you'll have to watch a few controller reviews and go from ther. You can use two controllers for sf6, so even if wat u choose has no analog sticks, you can move in storymode with your ps5 controller.
@@Hacisay cool ill look into that adapter! I usually use a saturn controller cause those never break fast for me lol so if a saturn controller works with that adapter im all set tehe
@sambono7105 yea totally I think you should be good, and if it doesn't work with the controller you have then maybe the 8bitdo or powerA Saturn style controller will work.

Hi do you know how to fully reset this? There is no info on how to do this had it a week and i csnt mobe or tactical sprint on warzone when i push the analogue forward
I think your best bet is heading to the app software and checking to see if there is a default setting there. Other than that I'm not completely sure on how to full reset this controller.
Why don’t you just place some tape over the trigger locks
I took out the whole mechanism out the day after I put up the vid. It's alot better without the locks.
@@Hacisay I got the vitrix for fps and mobas because I really enjoy the trigger and button sensitivity but like you I found myself accidentally hitting the trigger stop buttons and just put some T-Rex tape over them and never had an issue since those back buttons really up the reaction time and for mobas it really performs well for Smite I still have yet to try the fight pad but once the new Tekken hits I’ll pop those in and try it out
@Elijah Roy Yea the controller itself is great for really anything. Just those trigger locks and some software app issues hold it back. I definitely lik trigger locks for certain games lik fighting games in my case, but this one didn't do the actual locking part right. I am glad that you have found a good use for this controller tho. I hope Victrix next controller is truly perfect.
Dpad on mine is sh1t, no matter which attachment I use. The diagonals are not reliable.
Hopefully it's a software issue and not the actual hardware. I had dpad drift after the pc app updated the controller and it drifted only in wireless mode for some reason. I switched to wired and the dpad worked fine again. You should test if the problem happens in wired or wireless mode, and check and see if there is a new update in the victrix app. Tbh I think some ppl had this problem too when I read through the review comments on Amazon.

Yeah, I wish I saw this before buying this crap. This controller is horrible, and I can't even connect to the victrix hub due to driver issues :) Which can't really be fixed with the official method so idk. Not like it mattered, the controller itself is extremely uncomfy anyway and you'll press every button on the back accidentally including the trigger slider stuff. Jesus. What a horrible product lmao
It definitely needed more work in the software and hardware department forsure 😅. I hope a different controller company has something great in the works rn.

@markJames4488 Just sarcasm. Playing clean wasn't my issue with the controller. It simply wasn't a good fit for me and a bunch of other ppl. Some ppl did tell me that this controller was great for them, and others said they had similar problems as me when it came to gaming with this controller.
Mines arrives tomorrow for ps5 and pc.....should I just return and buy something else???
I think you should test it first out tbh. Just to see if it fits your needs. I definitely had alot of negatives to say, but I think certain people can look past it. Definitely try it and make sure you keep all the packaging and internal things just incase you don't like it.

You are full of it man. You can change the r1 and r2 buttons. That controller you compare it to is just a Sega Genesis clone that will eventually break it is not made for 5 million button presses like the pdp Victrix. Also the Victrix has a longer warranty period of 2 years! 😐
Bruh...I made this vid 7 months ago. Stuff has been updated for the better (probably, idk) since the first few months of this controllers release. So, at the time of me getting this controller when it first released, there were alot of issues i personally had with it. Also, it doesn't matter what controller i compare the victrix too, the point is the expensive ass victrix controller didn't offer me a better experience than the other cheaper controller. I dont care what well-known company made whatever controller, i only care about whether or not it was worth its price & if it can actually replace my other controllers. The victrix was not worth the $200 high price 7 months ago, especially since i had a better time gaming on a cheap $30 aliexpress controller. Wat good is a warrent wen I feel lik the product was a let down 🤨. My review vids are my opinions based on my experience with these controllers at the time. Im also glad you have been enjoying your victrix controller as well, i hope tht doesn't change.

@oracle-0018 50% is a great price man. I definitely dont hate it tbh, i was just upset with the overall experience at the time. I still have the controller. i definitely think it's great for guilty gear and non six button games. Its cool for modern sf6 if ppl have issues with classic controls. I personally think if victrix made a new version in a year or 2, it could be great. And the thrust master looks cool, but im kinda done buying fightpads. Ultimately, i think you'll be just fine with the victrix for any game u choose to play.

The other is a Betop fightpad, easy to find online. I have and recommend.
