I live in San Diego county California. Years ago the city built the largest desalination plants in the north hemisphere. The water department said everyone was going to be charged an extra $5.55 a month. A lot of people were mad. I thought the extra charge was a small amount for water security. Now people are moving in to the county because the guarantee of water.
So sorry to hear about your water situation. I also live in Ajijic and have not experienced any water shortage. Just adding this comment so people don't get the impression that everyone down here is experiencing water shortages and electricity blackouts.
I live in an area that only gets an average 12" of rain per yr (far less than Lake Chapala area), so I have have several large water tanks setup to catch rainwater from the downspout. This is mainly for the garden and non-potable uses but also as an emergency backup for drinking / washing when filtered + treated. Thanks for your real life videos.
You definitely have solve the big solution for yourself here because we live in a condo complex they're very restrictive on what other neighbors Macy let's say like water barrels but we do have some smaller girls that we put behind the house and use those.

Thank you for subscribing to a UA-cam channel for over six years now. You really understand what we go through here now how do you get water to flush your toilet?
The excellent question but the answer is absolutely no they will not let you drill a well even if it's on your own property they want to control the water.
Sadly this issue will spread around the world. That’s one of the reasons I’m staying with Lake Michigan. Of all the issues you presented, washing dishes with that nasty pool water is the most alarming. The bacteria is a killer. The warm temperatures means they can survive.
Yes, that’s Mexico. This happens in many cities around the country. The municipalities don’t plan for water supply when they approve new developments. I visit my hometown in northern Mexico once a year It’s called La Laguna de Durango and Coahuila and sometimes there’s no water. it’s a desert area. The Federal government has a project called Agua Saludable that has been in progress for years but still is not completed. The government entity in charge CONAGUA has assigned contracts to proven corrupt companies that already spent twice the budget originally allocated and have only completed 52% of the project. By the time they are done, if ever, it will cost 4 times the original amount. That’s Mexico. Sad to say but it’s the truth. That’s one of the reasons I don’t stay in Mexico year round. I just wonder what’s the impact on housing value with this situation? Investing 1000’s of dollars in a property with no basic services like water must be devastating. I didn’t see your video til the end where you mentioned that the government of Jalisco is not happy about you talking about this water shortage! Wow! I am not surprised. They should be ashamed they are not taking care of the problem rather than blaming you for something they created. Best of luck for you. Hope something is done soon to solve the problem

We Mexicans know that every time there is a water shortage, we just call a water delivery company and problem solved! They are called “pipas”. They are big trucks with different clean water capacities so you can choose how much water you need and it’s it. I googled the Chapala area and there are different companies offering this service. Of course there is a fee for their services but it is convenient.

NO
Why not get a water truck to deliver water? In Puebla we had to do that for as few months.
Jerry explained that water is delivered by the city and put into his 6000 liter cistern every week. The water shortage has affected those deliveries.
Overtake cost about $60 a delivery so if we needed three deliveries a week I would be $180 multiply that by a month gets quite expensive.
Jerry you can just get it delivered once a week and monitor your water usage. At least until the situation improves.
