Thanks, my dad who's job is literally to make parental control knows that I've easely bybassed every basic parental control he used to put on my pc, so he installed custom one just for me, and I'm not able to bypass it without him recieving a notification, but just by putting a linux on my external ssd thanks to your video, I'm now able to do anything I want whenever I want on my pc, thanks x)
Thank you works very well! i was waiting 3 hours to get 114gb of persistent memory. my USB is 128gb 3.1 Kingston and the Ubuntu version is 20.04 ltd. 👍👍👍👌
Great video!! What if rufus is not showing my External ssd??? Solution: If RUFUS doesn't show your external ssd try ALT+F, below you will see a message like "Hard disk detection" is ON/OFF.............It has stolen me a big amount of minutes
You are a wonderful teacher. One question please: Can I install Ubuntu and Postgresql on the SSD drive and use the drive on either of my desktop or laptop? Thank you!!!
Quick question. When I boot into Ubuntu it asks if I would like to "try" it or if I wanna install it alongside Windows. Obviously I don't wanna install it, but is "trying" it the same as doing a live boot from the external drive? It didn't look like it asked you that same question.
Small doubt you alloted 70gb for persistent storage does it mean I can use 70 gb for storing files and what about remaining 50 gb ... Is it not being used or is it where Ubuntu is installed? Can you please clarify whether 1TB Harddisk being used? According to your setup should I give more persistent storage for storing more data on Ubuntu or vice versa?
Hey great work. I have a question in my mind, though. Whenever I set a password for ubuntu. It always got deleted whenever I reboot. Hope you can solve this issue for me. I did the same things as you did.
Thanks for the great video. I have it working on an external 500gb ssd drive, but for some reason when the screen blanks out (power save screen saver, not suspend), I can't get it back up and running. It seems like it kills the USB power or something. I checked the power settings in both Ubuntu and the BIOS and no luck. Have you seen anything like this?
So, basically the instructions on the website + moving the persistent partition slider. Now all I have to do is figure out why my computer doesn't display boot options (I don't have fast boot enabled, it's probably a monitor thing.).
just look for the right key to hold on your computer to display boot options, different computers use different keys. for example on a mac you hold (alt)..... I hope that helps
I tried the same but it isn't working with latest (24.04). Everytime it's booting it's asking for setup like a new os from language to network connection
Great video but apt update and install doesnt work for me. In thjs exacly moment, I'm looking to the terminal after 30 minutes that the command starts and its progress is in 5%. Is this slowly normal?
Tried this on a new memorex . The first run of ubuntu, had lots of firefox and Ubuntu SW manager crashes. Then, on next boot, "Cannot mount casper-rw on cow." No tools to wipe the file or partition. I wasted today, as normal, when trying to get anything linux running.
Hey! I have question: So, can I use this OS and Windows at the same time, but I want to use Ubuntu only on USB and my Windows for example on HDD on laptop?
You cannot use both this os at same time. He showed in this video that you can use ubuntu live on your usb and it safe all your file in your usb drive.
Thank you so much I wanted to install fedora 34 and manjaro but it does not work . So i thought I will try ubuntu budgie and dragged the Persistent partition to the max so it showed an error. This video made me want to give it a last try. I have been trying to install Fedora 32 on my external ssd but no luck. I am trying to satisfy my distro hopping urge without messing with the main os.
Tried this with ubuntu 22.04 16gb usb but I get an input/output error because the filesystem is read only. Strange I haven't seen anyone else with this issue.
By default Rufus allowed maximum 10g for persistent storage. Thus leaving the rest for the iso. When i changed persistent storage to 7g i resolved the issue.
Performed all steps successfully. But getting "unable to find a medium containing a live file system. Attempt interactive netboot from a URL? yes no (default yes) :
that’s what I really wanted. Other videos Ive seen suck as bad as this guy saying “it’s easy dude”. It’s easy for him so he ain’t gon make a video about that.
Idk what happened I don't recommend doing the first command. After about halfway through it ended up ruining the linux install. Thankfully my windows install was fine but still.
I have only one doubt. We don't need to install Ubuntu in harddisk or ssd after booting into live ubuntu. Or we have to install it also in the hard disk and mess with windows bootloader and all?
I followed everything in this video and it worked, but why do I keep asked asked if want to try Ubuntu or Install it each time I reboot? Is this normal?
How do get rid of the try or install ubuntu screen? It keeps asking me but i dont want to risk wiping my windows partition by accident (as its happened in the past)
