man, I just started reading these deluxe edition books for the first time and this hits hard. I'm also glad that I did because I can see where Elden Ring got inspiration from Beserk, such as the sword memorials.
The sad story of Alexander is that he was truely destined to die. It is my theory that all the jars are destined to break and give their innards (souls) to the erdtree to sustain its growth. The way these inanimate jars get souls is by having the remains of body’s within their jar. By doing so they inherit the will of the being stuffed inside. Alexander’s was a hero of battle and so he felt he couldn’t keep to the life of a peace destined to die eventually. He wanted to go out in the world and have an adventure even his body was not built to do so. That is why time and time again he failed, he wasn’t made for adventure and never was. It’s a curse of his being. Though he was our friend to the end and we will miss Alexander, the iron fist.

such a simple and beatifull story...
He truly did grow strong in the end after realizing his cowardice and weakness in the fight against Radahn. Our tarnished just grew stronger unfortunately for him. 😞

This is the hardest boss in the game. Not about difficulty, it's about his story make me don't want to kill him.

The hardest part about fighting him isn’t just because he was fun and loved, but also because his entire quest line is about helping him out and watching him grow stronger from some random jar dude stuck on a hill to a fired up warrior capable of felling giants.
But he never got stronger. Thats the sad part. Nothing is ever happy in these damn games

I love the misdirection of Alexander's questline. It looks like he's gonna be a DS1 Siegward quest, a man who believes himself a warrior but still requires you to save him every time, always trying to get stronger but only ending up worse every time, slowly losing hope and confidence till he dies.
The failure against Rahdahn, the constantly getting stuck, the pain of tempering himself in the lava of Mount Gelmir, it seems like a familiar story of someone who can never keep up with his dreams.
And then he learns how to do a fucking Shoruken, beats the shit out of the Fire Giant, and reveals that "this isn't even my final form" when you do beat him.
The fire giant???? The red haired remains are from Radahn

I fought him after I had done everything in the game, I've beaten every boss I could, explored every area and dungeons, found every secret (I think), and only after that I fought him because I wanted him to be the final boss and even if it wasn't hard that was a good fight.

I think having to kill Alexander and Blaidd were some of the saddest moments in the game for sure. I just didn't want them to die. I really hope Fromsoft made a sequel to this game given how much praise it's gotten from the community. From the gameplay to the lore, they know exactly what they're doing.
Knowing FromSoft they'll make the references for sure but will most likely find more ways to torture them and their respective legacies leading to further glory like the Sieg lineage of Onion knights in the Dark Souls series.
Alexander embrace his death and proud of it while Blaidd is pure sadness since he cant do anything against the control of Two Fingers
They still need to make the sequel for sekiro (remember the dragon return ending?)
If they made it where people can find these npc and get more exposure it will be great not everyone finds these amazing quest and ect

The innards we received from Alex are to be given to his nephew in the jars town, where he will follow his legacy.

It feels weird to say this is the happiest ending we've had for the "jolly warrior who always seems to be in a bit of a bind" type NPC we've had in a Souls-like game, but it kind of is.
Though he never lives up to his own expectations, he's every bit the hero he ought to be by any metric besides might, and can say he was done in by no less than an Elden Lord.
And his legacy lives on, in the shard he leaves with you and the innards you give to Jar Bairn.
I don't know about thaaat. Siegward in DS3 helped fulfill a promise to an old friend. He then dies taking a nap, his life purpose having been completed.
@@zade8586 I can't help but feel that Siegward's promise to Yhorm is the type of promise he was hoping never to have to uphold.
Getting into way too much speculation on this, but Yhorm was his best friend, and the type of promise that binds you to kill your best friend would usually only happen when said friend has become the antithesis of what they would have ever wanted.
Killing Yhorm very well could have killed Siegward out of despair.
@@PhantomJavelin I do see what you're saying for sure, its bitter sweet by every measure but I do feel as though relieving an old friend from his eternal pain and completing your life purpose is overall a positive way to go out. Alexander on the other hand did fight a champion in the end, but failed at every turn of his adventure. By the time he meets you in Azula he's coming apart at the seams and knows he can go no further. Pretty fucking sad.
True champion, seeing you out until the last moment and handing you a very good talisman as gratitude for the battle you gave him.

Like another Spirit Summon? Maybe if it was decided so, you could possibly trade his shard to someone within the Roundtable Hold and get his Spirit Ashes in return. To me his main role would most likely be that of a tank, keeping his designated target distracted and focused on him while you hang back to heal and recover, form a strategy, or just pull out a ranged weapon and deal some chip damage.

When I came across him in Farum Azula, I started screaming NO. Not here, at the end of the world. Not here at the end of all things…
I Exhausted the dialog, took a breath, and fought with tears in my eyes.
I then decided he will live on with my new character I made called Jar Jar Binks.
Alexander was the best NPC... :( he dies as a champion :/

That's how warrior jars become powerful. They call on the strength of the bodies they have inside them, amalgamating them. Alexander took the flesh of the starscourge into his being making him a great warrior jar indeed.

He was actually pretty strong
For me he started off with his strongest attack “Dragon Fist” (not actual fire fist attack name but sure as hell felt like it) to which I barely blocked. He truly was Iron Fist Alexander.
A warrior through and through, his immense respect and admiration granted you his last battle
Imagine his innards could be put in the jar he gave us so he could be alive again! Like Groot almost
You can pass his innards to his young nephew who wants to be just like him in Jarburg. So in a way Alexander will live on. 🙏

i literally dodged his attacks for 2-3 mins before i killed him trying different emotes to make him stop but in the end i was left with no choice. i sat on his remains dejected for another 2 mins after the deed was done

They did Alexander dirty by not giving him a boss health bar. Honestly wish he would’ve been a “real” boss, higher HP, more varied moves. Atleast he has that cool fire punch move.

At this point through the story, our tarnish was probably one of the strongest beigns throughout the lands between. consort of ranni the witch/lord of the dark moon, fia's champion inheritor/part of godwyn child/lord of those who live within death, lord of the frenzied flame/progenitor of the three fingers of madness/vessel of its outer god, selen the craven witch star pupil, roderika's spirit tamer's acquaintance, possessors of the legendary mount torrent, carrier of the unlimited limitless potency to grew stronger through the conversion of runes into strength by Melina our finger maiden ( and a possible empyrean), favored tarnished through the guidance of grace, member of the roundtable hold, inheritor of the greater will, worthy of possessing the power bestowed upon the golden order by the elden beast, notorious victorer against each and all the demi-gods involved on the shattering war, possessor of each of their greater runes...
...etc and etc not even scratching just how far beyond powerful we were as an individual. Still, the same stuck pot on limgrave, the same broken pot we fought along with on radahns festival on caleid, asked us well knowing of its defeat for a battle between champions, to an honorable death. The amount of courage Alexander the Iron Fist had was unpararel for someone that was never meant to be a warrior, and yet the pot proudly laughed thanking us as it faded, a true warrior.
He had the dead of a true warrior fighting to the last breath even when you know that defeat is upon you, with pride and honor he lived and died, hail the great jar warrior Alexander.
So aren't you supposed to take his innards and stuff to the small jar dude in that little town by a tower with that one dude who left Volcano Manor to be some kind of protector for the population there?

Every antagonist in the Dark Universe has a unique darkness, desire and drive. And the reason for being of 'Forever Evil' is to explore that darkness 🌑🌑🌑

The only thing i am sad a bout that From didn't make him into a fully fledged boss fight and turned that bit into a boss arena, it would have been seriously cool to Alexander to have he's full on boss fight with unique moves and other boss related abilities

Iron Fist Alexander was a mix of Solaire and Sigward from Dark Souls and such a lovable character. I don’t know what Fromsofts fixation is on making great characters in their games only to kill then off and make you sad lol.

I’ve talked to him after defeating Radahn, but he’s not in the oil spot, any ideas on why this is happening?
Not sure if it means anything, but I missed him in Liurnia too and found him at Mt. Gelmir instead. Depending on where you’re at in the game, he might have just moved on?
Or maybe you didn’t summon him for the fight with Radahn, or missed his sign during the fight?

Weirdly I didn't feel too bad about killing Alexander. Partly because I already knew he would die long before I got to that part of his quest, but also because it was a fitting end for him. He always sought to be the greatest Warrior he could be, and going out against the Champion who would become Elden Lord and slay a god, well, that's how I'd want to die if I were a warrior
When he shattered I yelled NO like in the movies…and I was in a game chat party.
If only Alexander could see what I saw, I hid behind a boulder, witnessing a behemoth of a fucking peanut butter jar annihilate and cripple the last fire giant and proceeded to pimp slap that fucking cripple to second phase, thank you Alexander, you are the bravest warrior I have seen.
When you think about it, it took the player character, a godlike being and the new Elden Lord, to defeat Alexander. He is truly the Warrior Jar.
