Mr. Pizzarelli ~ We were saddened to learn of your father's passing. We know you and your brother will be very sad this Father's Day - 6/21/20. We will be thinking of all your family. Keep playing the great music of yesteryear with your brother. We love you! SYLVIA! FL 6/21/2020
You sir are the musician for whom people should be willing to walk those 2000 miles to see and hear at a live performance! Your version of “after you’ve gone” is one of the best things UA-cam has to offer! I hope God gives you good health and a happy life! Thank you for the best swing pompe out there! 🙏🎻
Bravo. J.P. Is still going strong. Saw you playing over more than 30 years ago in a small bar in Maastricht the Netherlands for an audience of about 30 people. My wife and I were one of them. Since then I am a big fan. Best regards from the Netherlands
The song was written by Bobby Troup who was DR Joe Early on the TV show emergency along with his wife Julie London.Bobby Troup got the idea for the song on a cross-country drive from Pennsylvania to California. The trip began on US 40 and continued along US 66 to the California coast.Troup initially considered writing a tune about US 40, but his first wife Cynthia suggested the title "Get Your Kicks on Route 66". The song was composed on the ten-day journey and completed by referring to maps when the couple arrived in Los Angeles.I heard a story that he first showed the song to Nat King Cole around 1946 and Nat immediately said he want to record it. In 46 I was 15 and bought the record for around thirty cents.
JP does many tribute albums but in keeping with character, he is never obvious or predictable, his selection of tracks is as clever and interesting as his playing!!!

Julie was also married to Jack Webb, but that marriage broke up. She later married Bobby Troup, and that marriage stuck.
Thanks for all the info!
Thanks! Great story. It's nice because it's a tribute to all these people who write great songs and thanks to you Al we don't forget them!

6 car backup, now thats the life!
In the clip with Nat playing the piano, was that Wes Montgomery in the background?
I believe it was Irving Ashby, Nat's guitarist after Oscar Moore.

この人を嫌いではないが、ギターに合わせて歌うのはどうにも好きになれない。
