Where The Mid Atlantic Ridge Becomes Iceland - The Reykjanes Peninsula
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 тра 2024
- This weird landscape is one of my favourites due to the visual geological history and tectonic features that pop out around here since Iceland is just the part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (Reykjaneshryggur) that happens to be above sea level. The tour ends by "The younger Stampar crater series" formed in the Reykjanes Fires in 1210-1240, the last major volcanic/tectonic series of events on the peninsula before the ongoing unrest started in 2020. The first town we see in the video is Grindavik, the Vogar and Reykjanesbær, the home of Keflavik. Int. Airport.
I shot this in 2023.

Greetings from Iceland. Gylfi
Fabulous scenery, beautiful to see raw nature's wonders. Very ralaxing music choice too, Thank you 😁
I miss hearing your voice in this one, Gylfi!
Many thanks Iceland ambassador Gylfi. You speak so well with video's of your wonderful country.
TRUE! Gylfi is the best ambassador for his country one could imagine. However, I hope he won't go into politics but continue with what he's doing. It's the best possible message he can get out to the world....
Thank you so much, Mr. Gylfi 🙏
@@renater.540 He does it all with his magnificent video's It's always a pleasure to see the notification that he has a new video out.
Breathtaking I just love all of the different faces of Iceland, please keep sharing these beautiful videos
The black volcanic earth is creepy and beautiful at the same time. Thank you, Gylfi.😊
Simply mesmerising.
Saving as second treat for Saturday breakfast time - ty Gylfi😊
For a second I saw "Second breakfast"! The landscape does kind of make one think of hobbits and adventures, though! 🍀😸
seeing all the old craters makes me feel in touch with history, both old history and the one currently in the making 🤩
Spectacular!
Thank you 🙏
that looks so peaceful
It's so nice seeing spring/gods hitting it off with the green stuff❤ beautiful ❤
-everything smells incredibly in Göteborg atm, it's very hard to be depressed, there's flowers everywhere 😂❤❤❤
I love your way of doing your Thing.
Respect!
Just viewed your video from yesterday and went back to the YT homepage and see the new video.
Thanks Gylfi! Nature has its own beauty! Stay safe and have some fun! 😎✌️👍👋
Thanks, you too!
An exhilarating flight. Thank you so much.😊
Thank you too!
It is lovely to feel like a bird flying over this incredible part of Iceland. Great video! Thank you.
Many thanks!
A lovely and comprehensive view, and great illustrative footage for future projects. ♥️
Thank you so much 😀
Stunning footage Gylfi! Love your work!
Thanks a ton :)
Beautiful filming, it makes me want to go again, and again, and again,
Di…Cumbria
It's utterly beautiful.
I really hope a documentary using your footage is made. Your drone work is spectacular and your knowledge wonderful 🙌
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
Thank you ❤
gorgeous seascape
Thanks and welcome :)
I like the green bit 💚
Such a contrast against the lava fields 🌋
Contrasts...a good way to describe Iceland :)
Amazing scenery, Gylfi. It was strange, but about the 3rd scene change where you show a stretch of beach with a long part that comes out into the sea and as soon as I saw it, it looked like a sawtooth shark, also known as a carpenter shark even down to the eye!🌟
You do an outstanding job showing the remarkable scenery in Iceland!
Beautiful! Just beautiful.
Breathtaking.
Amazing views ❤
Beautiful views and editing to show the stark beauty of the southwest corner of Iceland.
A treat for my unusually soggy California morning!
The geology and beauty of Iceland is breathtaking, a land where history is made. It would be fascinating to learn how those eruptions connect to the Sagas. Also, that time period seems like it coincides with the troubles of the Greenland settlement. Now, I'll have to do some digging.
This is a beautiful piece.
Thank you, Gylfi!💜🇮🇸🐎🍀
Amazing place.
Yes, thanks
It's so fascinating to see the bright green strip of land stretching from the Reykjanes Light to the coast, surrounded by grey, ancient lava fields.
Iceland is such a paradox at times. I guess that's not surprising, being the land of ice and fire!
Beautiful footage, Gylfi - as always.
Magnað!! 😳😳😳😍
BEAUTIFUL!!
Such a beautiful sight. So very different to our Australian waters and landscape.
Thanks for visiting
Please show us more. viewing from Calgary Canada.
Beautiful, love the music too.
Thank you very much!
Awesome footage. 😊
Even without saying a word, the way you have so masterfully assembled the incredible drone footage accompanied by such a relaxing score, makes me want to be in Iceland RIGHT NOW!!! Does the Board of Tourism know what a powerful secret weapon you are??? I sure hope they are paying you...God bless...
Absolutely stunning, breathtaking 😍
The effort and professionalism you put into your videos are so fricking amazing 👏 Such high quality 👌 Nailed it again 🤩
Always a pleasure to see your work. Dave K
So much beauty and not a tree or grass in sight!
It is such a interesting landscape. Indeed, to think of it as part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge that spans almost half the globe, makes is even more fascinating. 👍
Beautiful as always ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful ❤️
Thank you ❤
It's a good job that our current level of video technology doesn't include smells....
Great views from on high, thanks 🙂
Stay safe.

Wonderful video.. And I love the music!! 😊
Thank you very much!
I miss your voice in this one, Gylfi! Great music too.
Thanks for giving us the google maps location of where this was filmed. You anticipate what we may want to know!
Saell Gylfi minn! Takk! Beztu kvedhjur, Billi.
Takk Billi minn, þetta er mjög sérstakt svæði og gaman að koma þarna, verð á flakki um Reykjanesið í dag og kem kannski við :)
wonderful. Is this the youngest part of the island?
Some of those lava fields are pretty young, yes, but the very youngest part of Iceland is Surtsey which was formed in the 1960s.

Increadible how much vulcanic land is still to be seen there, from the view of an "outlander"
just in time while preparing for my next vacation. 🙂Your video is great! Because last year I made a short de-tour to the light house on my last afternoon. The angle of your drone video shows the green canyon in that vulcanic area, which becomes not visible like that on satelite pictures or from the ground.
Great footage. Could not find you in the crowd.
Wow Glyfi…the before picture. Still waiting for the ‘after’ picture….could be some time 🥺👀
Always nice to hear from you. Although personally I remain perplexed as to how what looks to me like a wasteland following a nuclear disaster can appear to others as "fabulous scenery". Still, takes all sorts to make a world. Or perhaps they live in a town. Who knows? Very best wishes to you and yours. ❤
NICE THANK YOU👀👍🙏>>>💚
Thank you too
Greenland is a beautiful country !
So is Iceland...‼😁
I used to fly in Det 14 (What the 56th Rescue Squadron used to be called). Was that the Rekjanes lighthouse and Hafnir Bay? I miss that area.
What time of the year was this video recorded Gylfi?
Hi Gylfi,
Aren’t you afraid the drone will fall down into the ocean.
A comment for the algorithm 😂
Welcome
