PLD took 3 penalties that directly led to game winning goals in the playoffs last season. With his NMC starting this season, you can’t say LA had a bad offseason when they were able to move him for a contract that is cheaper and ends sooner even if the player it’s attached to isn’t great.
I’d argue it’s still a bad offseason because they shouldn’t have put themselves in that situation to begin with. Did they try to fix the problem? Sure but it was a self inflicted wound.
@@NBIHockey PLD is an attractive player on paper, has the skills and capability to become one of the 2 way forwards in the modern game, and having kopitar to try and teach him that role was a great idea. I don’t blame them for trying to make it happen but it just didn’t work, glad they dumped that contract before they were stuck with it
PLD was literally unplayable, he was both a bad player and a bad fit, which made things worse. Massive addition by subtraction. Those lines also are all wrong. Byfield is gonna play 2C with Foegele and Fiala, Danault and Moore will shape the 3rd line, the middle six is gonna be really solid.
