It is great to see your father warm up to the camera and have a little fun on camera. Your dad and mom seem to be very private people, but your peps are inquisitive. We will try to give your parents there privacy, but we will enjoy when they share.
Wow, I’m seeing a different side to your dad, here l thought he was this quiet gentle man, But he’s a wild with anything that has wheels🤣 I saw him in your truck in the field!!! I laughed so hard l cried 😂. By the way, you have a beautiful truck.
It's great to see you and your papa calmly deal with each mini crisis,it also serves as a template for future farmers on exactly how much a farm actually requires to stay functional. Maybe one day I'll make it to Canada and get to try Kielstra milk off the shelf. Do you know the brand name of the milk that your milk is sold under?
It's Dairyland according to Jan himself as @saskdutchkid says their milk goes to saputo factory there it's processed then it then goes from there to the stores around Saskatchewan.
@@BRADLEYMOORE-n6v Your welcome I'm just answering the question of what Brand is the Kielstra Holsteins milk is under it's nice to hear my answer is helpful to you..
Another smokey day on the farm, hopefully there are not many more of them this year. Every time I see the ventalation fans I think it won’t be too long before the covers go on again. Hopefully we get lots of snow to keep the rye well covered from old man winter.❄️💨
Hello Jan, I enjoyed your video and really like how you take care of your equipment. A wheel loader is one thing I have never operated. Looks like it would be a lot of fun operating a piece of equipment that large. Keep up with the repair work done on your skid steer and tape a bit of the work, if possible. Sam
Weld through primers will make your welds look better which doesn't matter but will help you weld the quicker. I also believe weld through primer will also help stop some of the toxic gases that can form when welding on galvanized metal. Don't quote me on that but I believe a good buddy a certified welder, told me that.
Hey Jan, great 👍 video, hope you remembered to check on that oil leak?. Ps I was hoping your Dad would do a few donuts on the atv like he didnon your new truck Lol 😂.
I'm amazed of all the equipment it takes to keep the farm running in high gear. One day u have the time like to see a walking tour of the farm. Great video
Yep. Your dad is s cool guy, nice to watch, must be a sense of humor and I really like to watch the teamwork. Your farm really is neat to watch. The welding? I was very impressed. I tried that once and it scared the out of me. I don't know why. It just did. Nice video!
Maybe it would be a good idea to look into pricing out a cheaper 3 point compost turner and Windrow that hemp straw and solid manure. It would make great compost for years of nutritional goodness in the soil. It can take up to years for manure to break down and be useful when just spread on a field. Compost is ready, immediately after applying it to the fields. Available for years after. On average if compost is turned regularly, moisture level and temperature is kept constant it will break down between 56 and 75 days. Happy farming boys and girls!
🇫🇷 hi Jan did Ford called you dad for new product testing ? 😂😂😂 Very nice truck . As mentioned yesterday young farmers dream is normally a brand new John Deere 🚜 when you dream had been the raptor .. another way of life … congrats
Question. Have you calculated what the quality of the soil is, given the bedding that rots over time, mixed with the sandy fields you have, as well as the manure you spread? For example, PH levels and soil acidity.
Cows getting out has happened here once or twice. The worst time was after evening choars after the extension center drive thru ally was poured. The next morning, we had to break out the floor and re do! People were mad.
what about getting a more aggressive bale shredder and using it on all you bedding applications to allow the hemp to start the break down when its applied.
We used to have half acre of vineyard and for fertelizing it we used to use manure but we turned pto and beaters to chop it and u will get compost match faster
It's pretty tricky to get sales beyond the few locals that might want some for their gardens. Most nurseries etc. usually want it tested, supplied in bulk and bags and the bagging side is a headache and a half!!
Just back one of the ladies to pee on it. It’ll be fine. That was sarcasm, by the way. I’m pretty sure they don’t want the ladies anywhere near flames.
It’s always exciting ( sometimes frustrating) when cattle escape ,especially when they get onto our busy main road. Not all drivers have common sense and make the situation worse. 🏴

I'm guessing it's not the first time your dad run the welder looks he did a good job. Have you ever tryed sliding a piece of pipe about a foot long over the long pipe and welding the bigger one to the upright pipe. The welds are less likely to brake that way. The only thing is if the cows bend the long pipes that way. Maybe it be worth a try next time. At least the crops are off to a good start.
Jen i told you one thing ........tell you prime minister trudo to don't say any thing against or wrongly about BHARAT(India) ........other wise we don't support any canadian on youtube and other platform ........he is lying abou BHARAT(India).
Hey Jan, have the noticed an increase in your cow's milk butter fat content after you sprung a hydraulic oil leak on the grapple arm on the feed bucket?
3M makes mask for welding they look kind of like a dust mask but for welding, they fit nice under your welding helmet, I use them all the time especially when playing with galvanized material.
I would be moving all that straw way away from where I was welding. It's so not worth the chance of it starting a fire even after you've finished and walked away from that area.
That’s a lot we need like 250 and we milk the same amount of cows as you. I farm in Canada I met you a couple of weeks ago when you went to the wcc banquet
Hi Jan, kindly do a video on the number of bales of wheat, rye and hemp straw you need on the farm for a whole year and the cost of each. Im asking this because I didn't think you would be buying more hemp straw bales this year considering the amount of wheat straw bales you have been baling in the past few weeks.

Might be a good idea to check into composting the manure as a saleable product. As if you need something more to do.
I was thinking the same thing. After two years, shred it, bag it and sell it to "city folks".
Sellable, they put it on the fields to assist in growth of grain and hay
We used to have half acre of vineyard and for fertelizing it we used to use manure but we turned pto and beaters to chop it and u will get compost match faster
Why would they do that, it's far more valuable being spread on their fields

Careful welding on galvanized guys. The fumes can be really nasty.

Hey Jan, have the noticed an increase in your cow's milk butter fat content after you sprung a hydraulic oil leak on the grapple arm on the feed bucket?
You really need a straw blower to bed up.

how many bails do you need a year for bedding
they need many bales
2000

I would grind that before using it for bedding easier to clean an spread that way
Hey, what's up with the lump on that cows leg
The one you were turning around in the cattle shoot ???
Huge lump or abscesse
Dont directly weld Galvenized metal, weld does not stick, use a grinder for a sec and clean the posts and bars.

to bad you couldn’t find an old dump truck to haul the manure to the pile, instead of running back-and-forth with the loader
Your dad is a master at a lot, but maybe not welding. My welding instructor would say too rough!
You might want to consider getting a cattle dog for chasing cattle in case you have a few cows decide not to go the way you want them to go
Jan, Do you have to worry about the cows eating the hemp straw in the bedding packs and having the quality of your milk affected in any way?
They will only be using the hemp straw in the outside corrals, where all the cows are dry.

You should put a Switch on the Squeeze Shute!
It will eventually burn up the Plug in!
This may be weird but that electric forklift you guys have did you guys buy that from somebody like in a small town outside of Saskatoon?
When was the farm started?
December, 1996.

Never would a farm kid walk away from a farming operation that is generations in age. That just doesn’t happen. Ever.
Why don't you Use the new Holland wheel loader when you are bringing all of those bales home that you baled??
They'll likely be using it to unload the bales at the farm. As well as to prep the TMR feed twice per day.
