The best way to treat this condition is to loosen the stressed muscle with physical therapy, stretching, massages and breathing exercises. It’s stress related and has nothing to do with the prostate.

I'm not a doctor, but I did watch a video from a chiropractor mentioning that in some cases the prostates condition is aggravated by a neurological disruption in the lower vertebrae (L5), sometimes the result of a herniated disc. This would potentially explain the pain in your legs you were complaining about. It would be worth it to look into this. Good luck to you.

I have had it off and on for 7 years. i have had it last for several months along with several months with no symptoms. there isn't a lot that anyone can do. but to give some hope it does go into remission for awhile at least it did for me.

Well spoken and easy to understand. I have a very low risk prostate cancer but also have the recurring bacterial type prostatitis. This condition causes my PSA to go from 3.5 to 11, back to 8 then 6 back to 4 etc..I also have very low testosterone (45-50 on 350-1100) and have very bad emotional issues when not on replacement therapy. My PSA will rise after testosterone injections and my urologist will stop prescribing testosterone. This causes my quality of life to plument and I find a clinic and get back on testosterone. I went a little off topic but right now I am in second week of an acute flare up. I assume it is bacterial because I had the chills and the urine color was cloudy, dark and had small amount of blood. Unless there is a clear sign of infection, its not prostatitis, prostatitis pelvic floor dysfunction is a bogus term, in most men, its not prostatitis, its pudendal nerve damage, or another type of neuralgia. I saw 7 urologist and they all wanted to treat me the same exact way. After doing more research, I found a Dr at stanford that diagnosed me with pudendal neuralgia, sent me to the appropriate Dr, and now I'm cured.

I honestly cant stand these single minded, by the book urologist, its like they all were taught by the same teacher. My PSA was 0.5 with no sign of infection, and they all still prescribed me antibiotics and flowmax.

I went a little off topic but right now I am in second week of an acute flare up. I assume it is bacterial because I had the chills and the urine color was cloudy, dark and had small amount of blood. Dr started me on Cipro which has worked before (Urologist wants sample to do culture but too much hassle and cannot drive right now with severe urgency unless I wear a depends) I see urologist in two days but already on second day of cipro I am doing better.

I am 39 and was diagnosed yesterday with this. I was given antibiotics to take for 14 days. I went to urgent care because I don’t have a primary care doctor other then God himself. I will sign up for health insurance next time it is available because I probably need a primary care physician.

Unless there is a clear sign of infection, its not prostatitis, prostatitis pelvic floor dysfunction is a bogus term, in most men, its not prostatitis, its pudendal nerve damage, or another type of neuralgia. I saw 7 urologist and they all wanted to treat me the same exact way. After doing more research, I found a Dr at stanford that diagnosed me with pudendal neuralgia, sent me to the appropriate Dr, and now I'm cured.
