OMG a camaro, star wars action figures, & a brick of gold. All those things held their value quite nicely over the years, unlike most prizes.
You are correct. I noticed that too
Yep, dream prizes even if you have a time machine
Hard to believe that the other car cost about the same as the Camaro.
“A new car!!” That saying and the audience reaction was engrained in my childhood brain.
Take the day off...
@@AbeTheSigma007 Stop encouraging my employees to not show up for work; we've got cows to milk!🍻😂
Yeah, me too. I started watching these today simply for the nostalgia. Being a kid was great. Being an adult....
An oldsmobile / historic car now!😆
This show has been on so long I remember as a kid being home sick from school and watching this with the same music and same games and let me tell you, it's more than a little eerie that nearly nothing has changed.
Learn Windows 95? Dang these commercials are right up my alley !
It's like watching TV in my childhood all over again! This really hit me right in the feels.
WOW, under $5 she won a double showcase win, that is awesome. Way to go!!!
Wow just the Star Wars set and action figures are probably worth more money in 2022 than she won all together back in 1978.
This has to be about as good a day as anyone ever had on this show! A car, $1000, and both showcases! Amazing! (Also amazing was that a trip to the USSR was one of the prizes! lol)
I thought the same thing about the USSR trip lol....plus, not that it means much, but she also won the book case which got her up on stage to begin with. So I totally agree, she has to be one of the biggest winners they had, at least up to that point, wow...
The whole production back then was so much better.
Those Star Wars figurines are worth more now than the gold...
Thank you for uploading this! I remember watching TPIR with my late grandmother back in the day. I still watch the vintage episodes on Pluto TV and reminisce. Takes me back to MUCH better times.
Star Wars toys and a tour of Russia. This was definitely the 70s! haha.
I bet them Star Wars dolls would be worth some money nowadays if she still has them.
That's gotta be the best player ever, right? Won a car by rolling almost perfect dice, got $1,000 on the wheel and won both showcases with one of the best bids ever. I think the only thing that would have made it better is if she got a perfect bid in contestant's row.
The quality of this video is remarkable considering this episode is 1978!
Keep those Star wars toys in their packages and they are a showcase in themselves in a few decades
Barker's beauties do not dissapoint
That was an EXCELLENT episode! Thank you for posting :-)
She has to be in the contestants hall of fame! As close to perfect all the way through as she could be
Somebody got a perfect bid on a showcase before.
My favorite model dresses.
58:39 - Five thousand and SIX! YOU WIN THEM BOTH!!!
YOU HAVE WON BOTH SHOWCASES!
Funny how in excellent new condition (certainly if they were still in the package not opened) those Star Wars dolls could be worth as much as a car cost, then.
strangely good quality for a tv recording in the 90's from an episode from the 70's
I know. I'm fucking addicted to these and I cant stop
Note: it’s from the 80s
@@mickeymaus1 Nope, the late 90s. There are website addresses at the bottom of some of the ads.
@@kck9742 reaired yes but not firstly recorded that must be 70/80s
@@mickeymaus1 Um, yes, that's what I meant. Obviously this was originally recorded and aired in 1982. This was a rerun, as the ads are from the late 90s.
The double showcase winner siren is so great.
I always love to see people win. And the women's excited expressions when their name is called. .....
With the cheering and Music...
@@markheying2830 precisely and indeed...
At the time, my mother was pregnant with my brother and me. (We are identical twins.)
The #1 song was "Night Fever" by the Bee Gees from the #1 album "Saturday Night Fever"
Just started watching but thumbing it up already for the great quality, thanks.
The Star Wars toys and Gold are worth a fortune today.
The Star Wars "dolls" are now worth more than the rest of the two showcases combined!
Would you believe I know someone that has the set unopened still?
Nice Amana fridge with the freezer compartment below. Way to go David! Sensational car for a young guy in 1978
Can’t help thinking a lot of these contestants are probably dead. 💀 ☠️
What a blast from the past!!! I would go home at lunch time to watch part of the TPIR!
I forgot how stunning Barkers beauties were
I was REALLY Rooting for Leroy ❤️
12:58 Wow, four amazing rolls!
23:43 HOLY CRAP LINDA IS ON FIRE!
My BirthDay. Love it.😎 03/28/78
Man, I felt like I had won that sweet Camaro myself when the Air Force dude won it. This game show still sucks you in!
Wherever Linda is, please give me a piece of that luck!!!
I mean like call her Lucky Linda!
59:45 - "Stay tuned for _Love Of Life,_ next over most of these CBS stations!"
5 ounces of gold was 208 dollars an ounce back in 1978
Nona can get it. Who else watches these vids to check out the retro hot girls
Back when America was fucking great. Hot women selling stereo chairs and appliances
And other "chit" we didn't need! Hell, I'll take two of those!🍻😂
In March 1978, I was six years old, and I had a suit I wore on Sundays to church. It had the matching vest. To me, that was part of a suit, as I never knew any different. I like the vest. I wish it was still in style. If you get hot and take off your jacket, you still look sharp with smooth threads on top matching your slacks. As I recall the vest went out of style in the first half of the 1980s.
The gold alone is now worth more than the entire showcase.
Imagine if she kept both the gold bar and never unboxed the Star Wars toys. She'd be sitting on at least $10k.
Uh, 5 oz gold isn’t worth that in 2021!
It’s the fact that a trip to Las Vegas is an item up for bids that amazes me…my how the times have changed!
Those cars were absolutely beautiful!! Problem was… 1978… 1 of the foul years for automobiles thanks to the Carter administration, but thankfully those cars hold their value just from their bodies alone, and while original engines in older cars are always a +, the one exception would be cars from this era! I hope these cars are still on the road today!
Wonder what that STAR Wars set is worth today?
Thousands and thousands if it was left in it's original packaging.
The stars aligned and there was Linda !
I want to go back to the 70s and stay there
Linda did excellent on dice 🎲 game and did brilliant on winning both showcase. 😀👍
Star Wars DOLLS. Those are action figures Johnny, and they're also worth more than the car now.
I loved how composed she was when she won both showcases. If that happens now, they act like an epileptic in seizure. Those were better times. End of story.
Yes they were. I like the kids weeks now. Barker wouldn't dare do that. Just getting the episodes streamed online was a VERY small step.
I seriously think that contestants are told to act criminally insane to be on a game show these days, and more often than not, they come off acting forced, or like paid actors. I'd rather have a more natural reaction any day!
@@SLAPJACKS83 I was told that nowadays they are to put it into a "party mood."
@DionysusAIS, and yet everyone talks mad smack over the math teacher that literally watched this show for years and gets an exact price and calls him a cheater. Also, it is not wrong to react in different ways to a thing, so as long as it does not involve a life or death situation for yourself, and/or other people in their lives.
@@SLAPJACKS83 , what if some people DO act naturally excited and some of them are just in shock in what happened and that they are not able to properly process what just happened in their lives? I know that, as a person with autistic spectrum disorder, your response, as well as the idiots that gave your idiotic assessment an up vote, also is not a genuine reaction, plus it is insulting to people that genuinely react to a major winning moment in their lives with what you dare refer to as "criminally insane" in their lives.
Everyone passes on the trip down main street
"your tour of Russia includes a pair of blue jeans and some toilet paper!"
The second showcase was a tribute to legendary film actor Sir Alec Guinness
Sure beats the skunker I watched from 2006, earlier today!
good episode. I love Americana
David Lee Roth still has a poster of Bob Barker over his pool table...
‘78 Camaro for $5000!!!!! 2019 camaros are five times the amount at least!
$5864 in 1978 is about $23,300 in 2019 with inflation.
If only Time machines exist.
@@eyeseer1 I'd go back and stay there.
@@eyehatefarcebook11 , okay, elitist boomer that thinks that they are better than everyone else.
@@eyehatefarcebook11 I was there once when I was 8
Linda had the luckiest day !!!!
They aren't dolls! They are action figures!
$5006. I like how TPiR used to arrange their showcases to make it *likely* that somebody would get a DSW.
I spent over $40,000 on my current vehicle. What a difference in
the amount people will and have to spend on cars compared to 1978.
All those bushes out there ... ahhhh
Loved how bob teased contestants with the final number at temptation...lol
And also in the Grand Game before the possible 10 thousand win.
I also like when he sees that they have won but make it seem like they lost
@@NeekSquad They did not want that game won, in Temptation, $5864? Boy, it backfired on them.
Nice 78 Camaro 305 V8
24:02 Lucky Linda!
I was born in 1978 and watched the Price Is Right the whole time I was growing up. I lost interest by the mid 90's when Dian and Holly were gone.
I lost interest when Bob left
loved Davids answer to what he does ,,
I don't get why anyone would want to go to Russia during the Cold War. Being a quarter Scottish I would have loved that trip however I don't think I would even feel safe going to Russia back then or even feel like I wanted to accept a trip to Russia when they were violating so many people's including their own people's human rights. Though maybe people back then felt differently . I was only 4 so what do I know.
I agree.
I was a Junior in High School when this was taped... Long time ago...
She must have a telepathic ability.
📌@5:23 Bob had to get another glance at those cakes.🍻✌🏽😂
Wow, that Camaro in that same basic condition (almost no miles) would probably be worth over $50,000 today… Amazing! Something tells me he put some miles on it :-)
They must have bought the models, the Mormon dresses in 1978 to control Bob Barker’s roving eyes. I miss the 1972 micro minis.💃🤪
The Dice Game was played beautifully!
I remember this episode. We must have been on spring break and I definitely remember our babysitter's older boy reacting to the DSW.
I didn't realize it was common that the price is right aired reruns this old. I noticed this and a lot of the other UA-cam uploades are from the late 70s episodes but the commercials are from 1997.
Omg that look she gave ,almost like what was I thinking ? Passing on that first show case . Lol.. but as soon as she seen the rest of the show case her expression changed lol and really changed when she won both show cases .. wonder if she or her family still have the action figures not dolls ?
I hope this Linda is doing well... 2021
Curious as to how much in taxes she has to pay...

Love to see a triple crown to happen in The Price is Right one day. Winning the pricing game, $26,000 in the SCSD, and winning both showcases. That would be unbelievable.
I love Bob Barker. 💜😘👌💲🎁
18:05 Old English, Easy-Off and Zud were all made by Boyle Midway division of American Home Products.
Kiev is Ukraine's capital. Leningrad now is St. Petersburg.
The Star Wars figures are probably worth a fortune today
I WANNA WIN LIKE LINDA💲💰👑 💪
I can't wait until more S7 eps come out, I hope it won't be too long before they do.
A 1978 Chevy Camaro back then: $5864.00
A 1978 Chevy Camaro Today: Well depending of the market and the rarity of the car, maybe 3x the amount.
$480 trip to Vegas? Ok
No green numbers on the wheel
"Can I blow on it?" Is it wrong that I wasn't thinking of dice when I heard Linda ask that question. ;)
0:01, “Columbia TriStar Television!”-Charlie O’Donnell.
@CAGE THE EILISH I agree. However, I like the Viacom V of Doom.
"Now it's sony pictures television"
The wheel looked a lot lighter and faster back then
Anyone have the episode where Rich Fields showed up and said "Johnny Olson, come on down! You're the next contestant on The Price is Right!"
Dang.
All you gotta do is roll a 1 or a 6 & bingo! You win a car!
4:51, why is she wearing sunglasses in there? They don't have much lighting back then out over where the audience is. 38:25, you knew when Bob was stalling he had won the car. 16:36, Audrey looks beautiful, nice green sweater and beautiful hair. 56:43, Star Wars toys by Kenner.
There’s glasses that has tints in them.
I wonder what it would have looked like if she only won her showcase. No prizes to view.
What a "historic epidural"😁
1:48, Jay Wolpert, who would later form his own production company!
May he Rest In Peace.
Phew!😂
