SUBSCRIBED! I just finished drawing your "realistic eye" and it turned out amazing! Thank u for the wonderful lessons!
Before I watched the video I didn't know how to draw eyes and now I do as well
Guuuurrrl, dont question my comment
Amber Humphrey this is so early I'm saying sorry
I really love the way you laugh at yourself - I was giggling a lot .... Nice to see you don't take yourself too seriously!! xxxx Love the fairy face - she's gorgeous!
markcrilley: a drawing narator who sounds like a gaming narator
+Marcelliani Tjiptadi ^_^
+markcrilley I'm done, I can't draw a mouth at an angle!!! I've tried for so long!
How does the master do it?
+Volcanic Ashes I know same mine always looks like if it's going to fall 😂
+Volcanic Ashes it's not hard for me and I'm ten
+Volcanic Ashes A master does it because a master has been drawing it for 30+ years. You won't get it right on your 1st try...or your 2nd......or your 100th. lol
finally a video that ACTUALLY explains the subtle shapes and lines of the face at EACH step. Thanks you for this video! I was struggling with a 3/4 view and this video not only showed how to add realism to a manga face but went in depth on the 3/4 view.
That's excellent, it really came to life when you started adding the dark black pencil lines.
Been watching all your vids today, and man it has helped me sooo much. Now i know what to do and how to do it better.
I never really bother to look up how to videos on drawing but your vids are perfect! Thank you! And keep up the good work my man!
You are amazing. I could watch your videos all day
tray spells Thanks!
markcrilley thank u so much
I was so happy with the eye I made I didn't want to mess it up so I just left it at that
I'm just amazed how you draw - every pencil stroke seems perfect. The hair - that's just mysery to me.
Mr. Crilley. You are an amazing artist and a man with strong passion. No one understands that your goofy jokes is your imagination bringing life into the characters you create and, apparently, not everyone appreciates the fact that you take time out of your day to put videos up to help others. I haven't drawn in years and your videos have revived my interest in art. Thank you.
ur sooo good, i failed my drawing's head shape looks like a pepper.....
Dea .D
Same
your tutorial helped me a lot, thanks
i gave up on trying to use the guidelines for me it was too difficult and I couldn't get the measurements right. I think you should put the measurements in the video. But mine turned out okay with the guidelines
In my recent vids I always give the measurements; sorry this is one of the older ones. ^_^'
and which video that you give the measurement?
Hi Mark, I remember watching your tutorials years ago, and tonight I found a post you shared on Facebook. Thank you so much for all of these years of amazing works. Keep it up!
Of all of the drawing tutorials I have watched this was definitely the best, and most helpful. Thank ya
sigh... i'd kill to draw like this
So have you killed someone and became good as him now?
Somehow I have the feeling wanting him to be my dad xD
The MCSkittlez or wanting him to be u r god
very nice video. learn much. like to draw mr Spock in Star Trek.
I love how you are having a fun time when you commentate and actually make me laugh, where as every other one makes me fall me asleep.
I haven't done any drawing for some time and this was a real easy way for me to get back into it. Thanks a lot for putting up so many videos to choose from.
All the major part of the shading and the realistic effect of the face was in time lapse :( I found it very difficult to recreate this manga face in the same manner you did... Is there anyway you could create a video with detailed instructions for beginners like me...? Especially the shading part and the final effect of the hair... please :(
manoja jayanthi I did a "part 2" video that focuses much more on the shading: ua-cam.com/video/uKrEz0LGZLQ/v-deo.html
markcrilley thank you so so much!!!! I dinn see this earlier... Sorry my bad! BIG thank you

I wish he had explained how to draw the eye on the left and its eyelashes a bit more...
Semi-realistic anime is my goal to get at in the art field. I know I have to first practice both anime and realism styles, but when I finally get comfortable with them I will do this ^^
Thanks Mr. Crilley. You're my inspiration to get serious with my artworks :)
hey mark what is your favorite part of drawing : finding out what you are going to make, making a helpful video, drawing shadows,
drawing the face, drawing the clothing, coloring?. my favorite is the shading.
can you please draw the angel wings
+do quyen le here: ua-cam.com/video/BIbMTLr9qB8/v-deo.html
what are the dimensions when drawing the lines??
Can you please put measurements in your video
That is art and no math... if you cant even draw a good guideline setup then photorealistic mangafaces shouldnt be a topic for you at all.... everyone starts low.
It annoys me when someone comments something really stupid on a video because it makes the top comments become related to whatever that one person has said, whereas I think that a video of this quality deserves to have top comments about how amazing the talent here is and that we really appreciate the production of these tutorials, keep up the good work!:)
I'm 12 and I won a talent show because of you mark( watched some of your videos and draw 3 of them and I won!) Your my hero mark!!!
How far apart are the lines?
How the hell is it a “manga face” when it’s just a real face
Not all manga faces are the same manga like blade of the immortal or vagabond have this kind or realistic style
Am I the only person who cant STAND realistic manga?
Yes
I have to admit, since I started watching your videos and tutorials, I have become so much more inspired to draw as well as a lot better at it. Thank you :)
I think you're the best manga drawer I've seen on UA-cam.
People say he talks too much... I find it relaxes me and helps me focus on the work, as though he is really teaching us all individually.
mark crilley: take ordinary, simple line art and crank it into some of the most beautiful pencil work of all time. I also like that though, it really reinforces that the line art laid down correctly is the most important part. I watch these when I get ready to finish pencils on a page, helps me to keep in mind my focus and what I'm doing. Thanks Mark. Off to work!
Hi, Mr. Crilley! Your work is amazing! You are such an inspiration to beginning artists and artists who are looking to widen their skills. Your realism videos (such as the realistic eye one) really helped me when working with realism. Your first Mastering Manga book is really helpful as well, and I may buy the second book soon.
You should make more Realistic Manga videos like this one. I love this style and I'd love to learn how to draw it.
Thank you for continuing to make these videos! You are a huge help to artists everywhere!
No, don't do that. ;-;
Hello,
Mark, though I'm not really into manga style (I mean i read mangas, but I'm not quite comfortable with drawing this style) I'm finding your videos most fun and helpful. I'ts not just about learning, I'm smiling, even laughfing while watching.
I'm a selflearner, but made a great progress thanks to people like you.
Thak you.
Some advice for those who want to get better at art, mark makes a video every Friday, practice it every day until the next. From me, a now artist because of mark and what advice I gave
i really like how you step by step show us how to draw that certain part of the face.
You are my inspiration Mark. Whenever I'm drawing another manga girl/boy I will always come to you.
I would like to say thank you. Watching this helped me get down the design for one of the characters in my story.
I am so determined I wanna learn drawing so I sat and drew this very hard. Yours is a pretty, mine's like a pie. But thank you for your tutorial and I will not give up.
Man, you laugh at unexpected things :D
I love your videos. I've tried one of them. Well, it wasn't anywhere as good as what you did, but it's way better than I ever did. Rewatching your videos later, it's easy to pinpoint where I went wrong, so thanks a lot for the detailed explanation.
Manga is not my favorite style but I'm thoroughly impressed. Mark you are awesome
The whole drawing is awesome but the best bit, the beauty spot
I love his comments!
Mark you're amazing! you inspire me with your videos. Thank you!
Every time I draw eyes I start out good with the first and then I can never get the second to look as good.
I love your "realistic" manga tutorials. Could you do a couple videos like for a full face or origins point of view or like a mini series on "realistic"/semi realistic manga tutorials?
They always look so simple when they start, and then I am floored by how gorgeous they turn out by the end! >_< amaziiing!
I was going to ask you if you could give us the distance of the lines, but it looks like a few people beat me to it. But since I'm leaving a message I thought I would tell you how much I love your videos! Your so talented! It's great that you take time to help others learn how to draw! Thank you! And if you could start giving us the distances before you draw the pictures, that would be amazing! Thank you Mark!
Ahh finally, a tutorial I can follow!! My eyes turned out beaaauuutiful! Lips? Not so much.. I can't wait to keep practicing. LOVED the outline idea!
Thanks!
I subscribed, I can't wait to watch more. Thank you !!
Just drew my own version. I love these videos. It's easy to follow, easy to understand. Hopefully one day I'll be able to draw stuff like this without reference.
im fall in love with this draw you are very talented with teaching people
I wanted to draw a picture to make one of my friends happy while she isn't feeling well. Thus, I started looking up videos on art from Sophie-chan, Christopher Hart, and of course, You. ^^ Your videos are great for me who learns by seeing and hearing what the Artist does. ~Thanks
YES!! Shadeing PLEASE!!! and no time lapsing. We like your videos so I really would not mind if it was like an hour long lol !!! i'd still watch it.
wow! when i first knew you, i decided to make a challange to myself checking how much you will help improve my drawing skills, so i picked a video to draw, and i picked that one, now i have watched all your videos, learned every thing, and i draw this drawing again. its amazing, i got 10 times better! you are awesome! seriously, your like a drawing god! think crilley, for not just learning me how to draw, but also making me laugh and smile every time theres a new vid. of you. I ♥ U !!!
I watch Mark's videos every time a thunderstorm rolls in, sadly they don't roll in enough :3
Thank you so much! i identified myself a long time, with writing ugly and drawing really bad...
I slowly began to overcome this, with comicly drawings, still not beliving i could do it,
But my painting actually looks like a beautiull woman :)!!!
Thats the best face i ever drew! thank you so much, gave me a lot of confidence!
Keep going, you do something really good here!
How sweet...!!!Beautifully..explained.
Awesome video Mark, I find the guidelines a very important part with setting up all the right proportions of the drawing as displayed here. Cheers, I will most likely be picking up a copy of Miki Falls this week at Forbidden Planet I've always wanted to read through one of your works! :)
:D you're SO funny. Mark. I would just Like to say that three years ago I started watching your videos, then I was a beginning artist who's drawings consisted of sloppy circles and no shading. Now, after watching your videos, you've taught me the basics and advanced so I could Build on that and now my art has been Published, Tattooed on people, and even on the covers of books. Thank you Mark Crilley.
Hello Mark, I really want to thank you that you share your talent with us! I'm much better in drawing now! thank you, mark.
I think you are an amazing artist! Thanks soo much for all of the stuff you've taught me!!
I love watching you draw, after only having the ability to doodle and I am being vey generous when I say doodle, you have given me the hopes that I too could learn to draw, of course never as skilled as you but you do give me hope. And not only do I love watching you draw but listening to you can b a real hoot, you are so funny. So I guess what Im trying to say is the experience of your videos is really a good time had by all! And I thank you for that and for sharing your talent with us.
I loveeee your hands. You're so amazing in fact I got bored on drawing things and when I've watch your video guess what im exited to draw again
I thank @markcrilley For making me want to draw because I never wanted to do until him came along so I'm just saying thank you
The final product was incredible
Reminds me of the end credits art from Outlaw Star. Magnificent!
Junji Ito references aside, I think your tutorials are really great; they're pretty much the only reason I passed art class XD
Thanks Chloe!
Well actually I can't call myself a begginer. I'm drawing since I was a kid and I'm pretty good as people say to me. But I have learned so many new and interesting things from your amazing videos. So, I have to say a really BIG THANK YOU! Keep up your amazing work and be well :) Greetings from Greece. Kat!
Markcrilley is the best drawing teacher ever!!
wooow...this is really golden art
I love your videos. You have helped me so much!! I'm also almost done with my art wall, And most of them are anime, that you have helped me do. I really love these videos. Thank you so much for using your time for us, You have earned my subscribe. Thank you!
The closer lines are 1 cm apart from each other and the distance of the farther ones is 2,3 cm.
The lenght of the longest lines is ±11 cm.
I got this from pausing the video at 0:26 where you can see the ruler and i compared it to mine - the is just slight difference (~1mm).
Hope that it helped.
she looks so pretty! you drawing skill is so high o_o
The eyes start in the middle of the head, most people put them too high. Between the eyes is a distance of one eye. The mouth is also about one eye wide, also the nose is one eye at the widest part. Height measurements are also measured in eyes. Eyebrows are about three eyes from the top and one eye down from that is the center line for the actual eyes. From that line, another 3 eyes is the bottom of the nose and one more to get the center of the mouth. Ears are 3 eyes high too
I am really thankful to you mark crilley but could you actually make a video focusing more on the grid lines because I guess my measurements were wrong and my face structure got all mixed up thanks again mark crilley
Thank you Crilley your video was awesome it really helped me to know the distance and about the lines. I used to make a lot of mistakes but with your video I am beginning to be a professional portrait creator. Your video and shading is awesome. I use a HB 8 pencil I do not have that black pencil you used. Thank you once again - Vinayak (India)
Thanks mark! I've been working on drawing Lycia Faith and I found a picture in pose just like this but smiling! this will work perfectly
Very helpful. I love drawing manga but I want to be able to draw realistic looking portraits also. I'd love to see more like this.
Mark, you're an amazing illustrator! I hope I can be as good as you are, very soon!!
I love the way I am not going to be able too see the new version of the best thing ever
Hvala za tako detajlno predstavitev risanja! SUPER ,veliko sem se naučila. Se se bom vrnila k tem video posnetkom!
his videos are really good stuff for drawers out there
You know.....you make me CRY! wonderfull!
My jaw just dropped when he drew that eye so quickly!! :O wow, dude, your my inspiration! Xxx
sometimes, when i watch your videos, or videos from leilani joy or agnes cecile, or superkitch and koraile
i just think
my god
where do you get your inspiration from?
when i draw, my drawings get muddled up from all the amazing artwork that i see, and when i look at my own, i am NEVER satisfied.
how are you inspired? like, im pretty sure you have your own favorite artwork by other artists, do you find that sometimes, it resembles their work?
For any musicians on here contrast is like dynamics make the darks darker and the lights lighter I've found it help immensely ;D
Hey Mark! I am your fan and i paint a lot of paintings with help from your videos. Thanks! :)
OMG!!!! I'm so jealous of ur hand..and how it moves to draw lol..But thank you!!!
"Her right eyebrow is my left eyebrow"
LOL, you are so in-tune with the drawing you have become one! : O
Nice video : ) Thanks for posting!
No homo, but i LOVE you. The way you draw, your style, your voice, your precision and modesty ^^
PS: I'm taking inspiration from this guy you draw, can I?
Awesome video! The only thing that kind of confused me was the guide line placement - it would be really nice if you could give us some preciser information about that :)!
Yeah I know right? I'm not a big fan of how mascara feels, but it makes a difference when you find a good one that feels light and comes off easily.
I feel like Mark is my own personal art teacher :D
Everyone that's posting dumb comments are jealous.
Keep up the good work Mark! Your art really inspires me!
¡Es de lo mejor que he visto en la red! Muchas gracias por tu dedicación y lo fácil que los haces.
I would love it if you made a video about guide lines. I find it so much easier and (for my drawing) more correctly proportional looking. It would mean a lot. Thank you for this video.
