It's so satisfying to unlock Super Sonic because you really have to work for it. You got to get past anti-Sonic's annoying semi-command grab spin moves, all the unfair nonsense Metal throws at you, and you're rewarded with absolute invincivbility with which you can exact revenge on the Metal Menance that made your life a living hell for who knows how long.
I only got super once and playing the game again I don’t even know how I managed it. I finally realized that you can just grab Amy and Bark the entire match and win flawlessly, but Espio and Tails are actually really tough, especially Espio, I haven’t found a reliable strategy at all yet. Tails is mostly luck, after that bean can be surprisingly tricky now and then and sonic can be tough, but metal sonic is just in a league of his own

You spend a lot of time trying not to lose a round up until metal sonic where that crazy son of a bitch is OP as hell with his punch where he stabs you with his fingers, uses the laser blast from his chest, uses a spinning rush attack that knocks you into the fence, or when he fucking picks you up and throws you down. After all of that if you survive without losing, you get this magnificent song while obtaining invincibility and infinite attacks. Essentially you beat the living shit out of him. Eggman had no chance.

You have to defeat everyone without losing a single round,then defeat Metal Sonic at the first round,and in the second,press back+punch+kick (the same method to activate the Hyper Mode)
I always would turn on the 3 round system when playing the PS360 version, that way, I could actually hear this theme for more than 8 seconds and enjoy more Super Sonic Gameplay because Metal would be long dead 💀
Hearing this song after the LONG AND PAINFUL ROUTE to unlock Super Sonic in this game felt SO SATISFYING TO HEAR in the Metal Sonic fight.
