Looks like this job went the same way for both of us. OLD. CRUSTY. SEALS. Luckily you don't have my timing chain issue!
Yeah I saw your video after you uploaded and thought "Mine seals be fine with the lower mileage..." Nope!! I guess it's age, not mileage.
I was expecting the worst but it only happened to me on cylinder one seal. The rest popped out just fine. It looks like someone else has been here before though. Two of the seals weren't flush.
Clear to understand and straight to the point. This was last on my list to chase down oil consumption, unfortunately my gasket and seals were in perfect condition so looks like I need valve seals after all.
I hoped this would fix my slight oil leak, but now it's looking like the rear main seal could be the culprit.
Thank you for posting. I have the 1-HDT engine but this video will still be helpful.
Thanks for watching!
Careful tightening those valve cover bolts. I snapped off one of them when tightening. Had to drill out the screw and buy special tool to screw the screw out.
Been there, done that long ago. Luckily it was on a honda and I haven't done it since. Talk about making a 20 min job into a 2 hr job!
Best video on this ......Thank You for making it look straight to the point .....How did you import the truck in ? ....how complecated was it ? ....that would be a great video :)
I actually bought it from the dealer who had it imported from Japan. He said he knows someone in Japan that is able to look at the vehicles in person and let him know which ones are good to buy.
Outstanding video! Thank you!
Through my research the red FIPG is for the trans and the black FIPG is for the engine. I think it has to do with heat or maybe specific oil contact. Watch out for leaks from the half moons.
💯 I found this out afterwards. So far so good… not a job I want to do again!
@@6thGearGarage I bought the red first after watching your video and then bought the black. Is a trans filter change in my future. I hope not. The red looks cooler. 😎
awesome video👍👍👍
Thank you 👍
from what I remember, the torque spec is something like 4-8 inch lbs. So, finger tight, then 1/4 turn.
Hi there, thank you very much for the video. I have a question about these valve gasket. It seems that I have some oil dripping into one of these spark plugs and notice some smoke with oil smell when the engine is cool but as soon as the engine warms up, the smoke disappear and no oil smell afterward. Watching you video got me thinking about replacing these valve gasket but I am also thinking about the valve stem. How to be so sure if my issue is valve gasket or valve stem? Thanks again!
If there is oil around the outside of the plug, then it will be solved when replacing the valve cover gasket/plug gaskets. If it still persists with smoking at start up, then I’d suspect the valve stems.
I was surprised you didn't use any sort of lubricant to tap in the gaskets. Would that be a bad idea - something silicone based? Thanks for another great video. Just ordered the parts to do this job the other day.
Great suggestion... I don't think that would have harmed the longevity of the rubber in any way.
Any idea the part numbers for those two hoses that you left on the valve cover when you removed it? The larger ones. I ended up cracking mine as well. Could you please add to the bio? Thanks for adding those coolant bypass hoses. Sidenote, thank you for this informative video as well. Its making this job way easier for me.
I'm not 100% sure, but there are two ventilation hoses listed here that cold be the ones: www.toyotapartsdeal.com/parts-list/1994-toyota-land_cruiser/engine_fuel_tool/ventilation_hose.html?partNumbers=12262-66020 Thanks for watching!!
You should take a trip out to Trinidad & tobago. I can show you a scrap yard with dozens of LN/YN106’s. Any part you could want, new or used. You can also buy bare frames in showroom condition. Can also show you where to buy marine grade epoxy primer
I would love to find some nice frames. There are none left in my region of the US.
Hey I’m in the Caribbean do you have a number and location because I will buy a 1995 80 series and I would love to find all the part needed for my repairs !
Any videos you know of showing how to set up Throttle body position sensor or idle ?..... looking to replace my Throttle body sensor and need to adjust the Idle while doing it .
Sorry I haven’t had to learn how to do that yet. Do you have the factory service manual?
Rookie question..:but do you reuse the hose clamps for the water bypass hoses you replaced?
I used constant torque hose clamps instead of the OEM hose clamps. Here's how I did the bypass (and all the other hoses) ua-cam.com/video/r5G8rgw92z4/v-deo.html
can you please make a short video how to disassemble the antenna base from the fender on a 1984-1988 toyota pickup?
Do you have a recommendation for acquiring parts for ‘92 hdj81? Bushings, filters, belts etc?
The hdj81 was never offered here in the US, so I would shop on partsouq.com for parts.
@@6thGearGarage thank you!
Can you do the phh please?
Absolutely, I have all the footage and should have it ready to upload in a week or two.
@@6thGearGarage you are a saviour, your knuckles video was amazing! I look forward to the PHH one :DDDD
Hi i have only three vacuum lines in the throttle is it a problem?
