Adam Navy it’s more like she is not talking seriously in the lyrics of the song, like sarcastically. But then it became a hit and the press took the meaning more seriously, they sarted calling her 'the material girl' and treated her like a shallow person. She never felt like that about herself so it kinda pissed her off. So that's why she sings like that this particular song. I find it very funny
