The new physics engine is coming to Golf+ soon, it's currently available to try in the settings menu, so I thought it would be a good idea to give it a bash and see just what's in store for the future of my erratic play.

Being able to play music through the game is insane. I ordered the attachment today to make it more realistic. Body hurts like I played real golf. Worth the $30 I think it was.
You made me so excited to receive mine!!
I love the new phyics...i shot -3 on pebble beach the 1st go around with the new phyics and -6 on cliffs. Chipping is the most challenging with the update but im not complaining!! It so close to real life, and im happy happy happy!
Those are great scores, personally I'm struggling for distance now, but as you mention it's so much more like real golf, as I was never a long hitter in real life, I have my natural limitations back and with that much more of a realistic feel.
Putting seems like hell 😅
Top golf add on is fun af
Finally .. closer to actual golf in look and feel now let's hope they populate it little no (Wii golf type trails and power meter( and don't worry I'm sure you'll be able to still play the other way
Even though it will affect scores, I'm all for the new physics engine, the more real it feels the better in my humble opinion... even if it does mean I play worse lol
You do know on V2 there’s a swing option at the bottom of the screen where you can increase the power to shots where your power isn’t as good. So for driver and woods you can increase that to 150% to give you longer drives. 👍
I really like the new physics engine. It makes it so much more realistic to how you play in real life.
I also can't believe they put a crocodile in the game. Ha ha! That is amazing! Maybe it's always been there or it's new for the graphics update. It would be cool if they added more wildlife in the future, like deer standing by the trees, more birds or other local wildlife native to where you are playing. That would be cool.
Would be really cool I agree (so long as they don't add crocodiles that attack you!), changeable weather is another thing I'd love to see, start off in cloudy/overcast and by the time you've reached the 15th it's tipping down with rain!
wait how do you make it so you hit it far as you do in real life
When you select the new physics engine, you can choose to calibrate your swing, you're then presented with three practice balls to hit, which once done gives you a much more accurate representation of your irl swing/speed/distance etc.
lets hope they bring some type of mixed reality element to it ( like see your hands ,grip, feet ,swing in the game environment
I was thinking this just last night, some kind of mixed reality driving range in my kitchen would be mind-blowing!
@@MaxCheesefist well i hope its an option and not a standard, quest3 is already poor with battery length / charge while play. and passthru really drains this fast
Hand tracking for the hands holding the club with quest 3.
Yeah, the new V2 engine is going to bring a lot of folks down a few pegs. I don't like how Battle Mode lets you play with opponents who aren't using the engine. Just got my Quest 3 last night.
Congrats on your new Quest 3, hope you're enjoying it... I think I read that sometime in November the new Physics are going to become the standard way to play and the old physics will be phased out, that's probably why it's still in the experimental stage... Certainly adds even more realism.
Yeah it sure does. I lost about 100 yards off my driver, which is about right for our age group. I use an attachment and it really makes a difference when I relax and not try to grip it and rip it.
I love golf but I absolutely suck at it in real life. As it is, in the 5 or so rounds I've played of Golf+ I'm averaging about 12 over par. Am I going to find this even more difficult and frustrating, or will it add to my enjoyment?
That's a very good question, I've only had the game myself for about 10 weeks and was playing amateur difficulty on the old physics, my handicap for that is between 5 and 6 (I'd never be that in real life), having switched to the V2 physics and then discovering the 'Calibrate Swing' option I'm hitting around 10 to 12 on amateur now (on pro difficulty it's between 17 and 19)... My advice would be to just enjoy the round of Golf without trying too hard to chase the numbers, because they will come with practice.
@@MaxCheesefist Good call. I'm not too worried about my score, I just no I don't hit with much power and don't want to take 10 shots to get my ball in the hole each time. I guess I'll just give it a go and see how it is, but I doubt anything is going to keep me from enjoying this amazing game.
I think the Apex is much to high for a 9 degree driver...I was a 9 handicap in real life and never hit the ball that high with my 9 Degree Callaway Hawkeye driver>
You may be right there, I do think myself sometimes that I'm getting an awful lot of air out of my drives.
Can you play it with friends but just with one vr ?
I'm afraid each player would need a headset to play against each other.
With these physics are there separe leaderboards and tournaments limited to this difficulty?
As far as I understand it, the V2 physics is going to become the standard, although I believe you can still use the old physics engine in the tournaments and such like, but it may have changed since I last looked.
@@MaxCheesefist thanks for the reply, I'm Interested in the game but only if it's all on this difficulty, will have to buy the headset and club add on so it's a bit of an expensive, don't like what I see with the power settings
That is very wise, there are in total 17 courses, you get 3 with the game and can unlock a 4th by joining the Golf+ membership (it's done ingame and doesn't cost anything, just registers you as a player and gives you a webpage to check all your stats and stuff), all the other courses can be purchased separately (between 7.99 and 13.99 each I believe), or there is a subscription thing where you get access to them all for a monthly outlay... Personally I get the new ones as they come out, but I had a head start over yourself, so it could be quite expensive initially... I'd suggest checking out the Golf+ discord for all the info, as I understand it's a big investment to make. 👍
@@MaxCheesefist Thanks ,.wow the courses seem expensive, so to buy them all I'm looking at a few hundred
Is this map an add-on?
Yes this is one of the paid course additions (there are 11 at the moment ranging from 7.99 to 14.99 Euros... Not sure of the conversions into other currencies), you get three courses free when you purchase the game and a 4th one when you register with Golf+ in-game (which costs nothing and is recommended, because you then have access to all your stats and history via the web page).
@@MaxCheesefist i played Golf + for the first time yesterday so I’m a total noob. What map/course do you recommend as an add-on?
Honestly I'd recommend all of them, but they all have different challenges, it depends on your wallet of course, so maybe pick up the 7.99 ones... St. Andrews is a lovely course, huge open fairways, no trees, massive double greens, but it is 14.99... I was lucky when I first picked the game up as there was at the time a five-course bundle offer, which really helped me... If you want to see what all the courses look like, then I have played them all on my channel... Valhalla you can get for nothing if you register an account with Golf+ (you can do that inside the app itself I believe, then you'll get an email within 24 hours telling you you've unlocked it), this is what I did at first, before buying any extra courses.
@@MaxCheesefist hey thanks for getting me up to speed. I’ll get registered today and go from there 👍.
