Spike/Buffy [Banshee!AU] - We Shout [Buffy The Vampire Slayer]

I already did a Spuffy!AU after I finished cutting all the scenes I want from season 4, so I kinda thought why not do the same with season 5? It’s more messy than the last because the story structure was easier to build but the idea for an AU for season 5 just demanded a different approach because it is more difficult to show.
But back to the story: We all know Spike confessed his feelings to Buffy and got rejected in between Buffy’s break up with Riley and the death of her mom. This time, her mom dies much sooner and it increases Buffy’s already depressing mood much more than it did in the show. She does, however, confide in Spike with her grief and he is also he only one capable to see that she is not fine from the beginning and her mother’s death does affect her. (Dawn’s words towards Buffy are more something she said without thinking in the moment because she was mourning their mother as well.)
But Willow gets a glimpse of Buffy breaking down and wants to help her. In conclusion - it is Buffy this time who she shows the book with resurrection magic. Buffy does the spell and it goes wrong in the most horrible way. D'Hoffryn appears and offers Buffy one of his deals to turn a human into a vengeance demon. Tired with grief, Buffy agrees. And she finds herself with powers she cannot control because she did not read the fine print which actually turned her into a banshee.
Buffy tries to fight against any sinister urges that get mixed up with her Slayer powers but it gets more difficult with time. Since Spike is still no saint, he does cheer her on with whatever evil schemes she comes up. And their attraction to each other just increases it. (I like to think that Drusilla here just thought it funny to tease a banshee-turned-Buffy and make her jealous while she dances with Spike. Dru would just love a bit of chaos and I just really wanted to edit Buffy being the one looking down at them while they dance. So, let this be a little scheme of Dru because she deserves some fun, too.)
All is fun and games, until Buffy does go too far and offers her neck to Spike. This is the turning point for him because he realizes that Buffy is slowly losing herself and so he draws a line for their shenanigans. (I know I ruin every Spuffy ffs dream with him refusing to drink from her when she finally makes the offer BUT he still cares for her and realizes she is losing herself and so he forces himself to focus on her actual well-being. And to his credit, it is Buffy this time who falls into a coffin at her failed try to be dramatic. Reverse card, here.)
They spend some time apart which Dawn also realizes but they meet again visiting Joyce’s grave and now he offers actual help with her powers. Wholesome times ahead. But Buffy has to save Spike once because Glory captures him (it could be a revenge for Buffy beating her up sooner in the edit) but then all is fine. Especially when Buffy realizes that being there for Dawn is the real goal right now and that she can absolutely count on Spike in that manner.
I hold a fascination for banshees ever since little me read a mention in “Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You” from Holly Black’s “Spiderwick Chronicles” universe about them. Banshees are often being to foretell death, though, sometimes, they also help with things in the household. As far as I know, there are no banshees in the Buffyverse, despite some mention I read about that happens in season 10 in the comics. Ironically, D'Hoffryn turns out to be the main villain there - so I accidently mixed up season 5 with 10 here, I guess. :D

Wow! This looks so real! You got me confused with your Spuffy AU's, because I don't know the real story, so I would totally believe that all of is real! The story must have taken a lot of times to figure out, because it's such a complex story. What I can't possibly process that how you had the patience to use that overlay so many times after each other, and all the times it looked good? It started around 2:28. It went so wll with the music, and the sounds and wow! Every time I tried to use it, it took so much time and effort to make it fit perfectly. I can't imagine to use it that much time after each other in the same video, especially in such a short period. So, wow! The scene, when she screams, really looks like, she is a banshee. You made this whole story to work so perfectly! I love it so much! I can't write a longer comment now, because these days, I have aches everywhere. My neck, my back, even my left arm... I know, I talk like a really old lady. xD Anyways, the video is incredible as always!

The overlay is actually very easy to use but I feel like I edit different with overlays anyway. I tried to watch explanation videos on how to make them work but I found most rather too complicated and in need with too many extra functions for Sony Vegas to work. I actually just put another video track above the main one and use "Chroma Keyer" for the overlay clip. Once you change the disappearing color to black and smooth out the borders, it's nothing more than putting it over the video clips. So I'm glad it LOOKED like hard work, but, actually, it wasn't, to be honest. 😂
But I have the same problem with another overlay where I feel it just won't look good. I think you even used it in your edits sometime ago. That one where you first see a white screen but slowly the actual scene gets revealed like some stroke of a brush makes it clear? I wanted to use something similar but I had the problem here that it just wouldn't look good. So I know what you mean. 😅
