About me:
Hi, I'm Harry, and I'm intensely passionate about personality typing and self-development - so much so that I have created my own Jung-inspired system, taking a more high-resolution look at the factors making up personality.
Through Cognitive Personality Theory I examine the underlying mechanisms behind cognition, and the means through which a single type can have limitless individual variation - I believe type itself is just a set of cognitive predispositions that can according to the needs of the situation be overcome.
I don't believe any type is limited in what they can achieve, but have noticed sensationalist attitudes and internet trends propagating a culture in which type-development is actively discouraged in favour of conforming to simplistic archetypes. Through CPT I hope to dispel various myths and oversimplifications of what constitutes personality type, and along the way encourage a healthier attitude towards type that allows a person to become not who they are told they are, but rather who they want to be.

That's awesome! I only a few weeks ago acquired my own copy of Carl Jung's Psychological Types (apparently from Las Vegas) to read for the first time! Had to brag about some way some how but looking forward to your book too! I missed the first edition so I guess no worries about needing to buy it a 2nd time there! I've been unimpressed with amazon lately so I'll probably buy from your website when the time is right

That's a great idea and one I have considered - I'll have to consider how it would look in terms of time investment but it's 100% something I am keen on doing

Your 4 subtype system correlates with Socionics's own 4 subtype DCNH system.
With Dominant/normalizing =convergent. And creative/harmonizing = divergent.
Both systems talk about these subtypes being fluid.
I'm an INTP who for years was a creative subtype (meaning I favored my parent function.) Now I'm Normalizing (meaning I favor my child function.) (Harmonizing favors the inferior and dominant the dominant or hero.)
Harmonizing is also correlated with Si/Ni. Dominant Te/Fe. Creative Se/Ne. Normalizing Fi/Ti. Hard to explain in detail.
And the systems are not the exact same. But I see lots of correlations.

Congratulations! Just purchased. :) I'm scanning through this now and it looks like it's going to be a very interesting read. I found a section called "The Oppositional Archetype". I'm not sure if I'm understanding correctly, but this sounds a lot like what I've been going through for the past 6 years of my life. My type is ENFP but I function like an INFJ a lot (but not in a wholly healthy way) because it's helped me to survive and grow (a lot). However, when I exist in this state for too long, I start to feel...mm...not great. More disconnected overall and my natural ability for idea generation suffers. I won't get excited about things as I normally do and I'll begin to feel almost trapped after enough time passes in this state. On the flip side, I feel a lot more comfortable in my oppositional functions and feel like I can do more in terms of having all these amazing ideas and then also being able to narrow them down based on trends I've noticed within people/environments (Ne-Ni working together possibly?). My mom is also an INFJ which has had a deep impact since we're so close.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. It's a bit all over. I'm just excited and curious to learn more!

question though. Somewhere in the INTJ video about shifting types you said an INTJ will become routined and ISTJ like but in the INTJ subtype video you didn't mention an ISTJ like subtype anywhere 🤔
Ahh problem here is that the two types have opposite lens-codec pairings (which seem to be the most static aspect of type), so the INTJ would remain an NiFi pairing rather than SiFi irrespective of subtype :)

Just bought two printed copies. Want to give one to my therapist for reading. She has knowledge of cognitive functions to a degree and really believes in individualized approach to therapy. I think she'd enjoy it.

On the book's amazon (UK) page it remembers that I've already purchased it but says "buy now" £9.99 on the right hand side. I've tried deleting and downloading it again on my kidle app but I'm struggling to tell if it's the new edition. I don't see a chapter on type fluidity and it only has 247 pages whereas the printed version says 251. Can anyone advise please?
Hi Gary, thanks for letting me know this. I'm not entirely sure why this is because it is very much the same listing and it absolutely should allow you to download you purchase again. Maybe it's in your orders instead of the buy page?
Deleting cookies/cache might help.
The printed version would likely count the front and back cover but it is still 247 pages in content, which should display on the print preview.

I DL the preview, and this seems to be a pdf. I’m legally blind and have no interest in going back to scrolling horizontally to read, (because I’m zoomed in so much.) The one you sell on your site a PDF?
First of all Congratulations! and I have a question that is it my misunderstanding or Se-Ni axis is extremely effective for fast reading?

It's a bit more nuanced than that but generally speaking Se-Ni is great for bursts of fast reading and Si-Ne more of a marathon. Though this will often be a tortoise Vs the hare thing :)
This seems like a hard question to ask, but I have no idea where else to go, I am an INTP I think after watching your videos, as a producer/musician/writer, why do you think an INTP would have trouble with finding music theory sort of "too simple", Why do I have trouble with the idea of "existing scales" of music theory and feel underwhelmed by the idea of "little to no options inside the existing framework"?
TiSi convergence finds joy in zooming in to infinite depth - it would 100% make sense for musical composition to feel stifling in that sense. I have found TiSi pairings to alleviate this by focusing more upon the texture of sound and using harmonic structures as a bedrock for this exploration
@@CognitivePersonality thank you for the response. and just to humor these doubts since I feel presumptuous at times, could an INFJ find some sort of relatability to that stifling feeling of musical composition being underwhelming? I just want to make sure because I came to this channel believing I was an INFJ before watching your videos in depth.
@@tasenova2717 Not in my experience; NiTi is more macro than micro in that respect so takes joy in layering keys etc

Sadly I only have print on demand on Amazon - the printing costs are even higher on other options so I'd have to charge more to cover expenses on other sites (I don't really make a profit on physical copies), but I'm looking into options!
