Thank you for your review. I just bought a bottle of Diamine Sapphire because I love its rich, intense color, and it's much less expensive than J. Herbin. I also love Sargasso Sea.
Hello Gary. My everyday ink is the Eclat De Saphir. It probably my favorite blue ink along with waterman Serenity blue. I just realized they are both French inks. Thanks for a great video.
Thanks for the comparison, Garry. I just ordered a bottle of Diamine Sapphire Blue from Pure Pens. They have very reasonable prices. I got the 80ml bottle. Cult pens had cheaper prices but their shipping was more than twice the price from Pure Pens. I was looking for a bright, dark blue ink. I love Diamine Regency Blue but a 40ml bottle was 3X the price of the Sapphire Blue. I guess it was a special edition.
I always batch up my purchases from Cult Pens to take advantage of the free shipping level. I don't think Pure Pens offers free shipping, but I have had several things from them.
I own that small "baby bottle" from Herbin, of 10 ml. Also made of glass, and also very nice looking. A bit more expensive per ml than the 30 ml, but allows more than 10 filling of a typical converter. I would suggest that bottle size if available. It is a very nice color, reminding me of that beautiful blue that we can find in any well-made set of 24+ colored pencils.
wrote for years w Herbin éclat de saphir in one of my favourite pens: my lovely Platinum 3776 EF in Chartres blue w rhodium trim, just the perfect combo imho: was writing in my Midori traveler’s notebook passport sized on their light weight paper which, I suspect, is tomoe river 52gsm - unfortunately when they changed to the Sanzen? paper, my pen seems to put down a fatter, wetter line that feathers which is no use for my small handwriting so I swapped out with Diamine imperial blue which seems to work well; I noticed this when Hobonichi Techo’s first came with a sheet of Sanzen for testing purposes: most of my inks performed pretty much as well as they always had but there were a few that just did not like the new paper!; thanks for this:)
WONDERFUL COMPARISON

Wow Garry. You certainly put out alot of videos!
yeah. I have streamlined a lot of the process now, and have quite a few automations to help me.
I really enjoy making these.

I do line the cost-effectiveness of Diamine inks

I very seldom use blue or black ink. Sometimes blue/ or grey inks. These two are nice blues. Thanks for the video.
I don't like a lot of blue inks, I tend to find them "boring", but these do have some interesting colours.

From about 1995-2000, I only wrote with Aurora Black or Parker Penman Sapphire.
I keep forgetting how nice these inks are. I'm quite enjoying them in the preppy..
Legendary inks

Thanks for this info. I'll have a look for some.

I haven't tried the new papaer yet, I still have a number of the old paper books.
Wow. Not used a fountain pen since my grammar school days in the '70s
