Finally an October baits video for Florida, I'm a mini recon kinda guy this time of the year.
Dude I’m stoked, the water temps are dropping and those bass ain’t so lethargic. I’m ready to tear them up. The fluke gets destroyed! Thanks for all you do for the fishing community! Love your tips
Go get em! Thank you for your support dude
Im a Chaplain for a PTSD recovery program we take Veterans and other participants fishing to help them cope with their recovery struggles.
Im a Top water fan. Love A Berkley Choppo, but if i had to narrow it down. Im a Crankbait aggressive fisherman .
Love your channel!
God bless
Started throwing a Rattle trap and ripping it through the hydrilla. Ran into your dad at Headwaters boat ramp the day he forgot to put he's plug in his boat and had the steering locked up on him. Even the pros have problems sometimes. Enjoyed meeting him.
Hi Mr. Martin! In October my go to bait is a Googan Recon. I use a Sick Stick 7,4 heavy and 14 lb line. Thanks!
I love an underspin. You will be throwing everything and for some reason they go insane on the underspin
Mr. Martin , I just started fresh water fishing about 2 years ago. Every thing I know I've learned from watching not only your videos, but your father's as well. Before fishing I lived a life of Kaos and pain, thank you for showing me a special way ,that has truly brought peace to my life. One of my favorite baits to use in October is Rapala BX Brat 06 Square Bill Crankbait. Like you spoke about that smaller profile gets it done. God bless
Hi Scott! I’m an older guy, been fishing over 50 years but I still learn something watching your videos. My favorite fall bait is a buzzbait. If it’s not getting bit I’m going to a spinnerbait. Good luck on the water sir.
Probably my favourite lure for the month of October is the Googan squad ratlin Ned on a shaky head hook and I fish it slow
Burnin flukes through the grass in backs of creeks when the shad start headin in...plus the topwater bite in october can be incredible!
I have three favorite lakes.
One is grassy. I have good luck in the fall with frogs, swim jigs, squarebills ticking the top of submerged grass, and trick worms twitched on top of that same submerged grass with a spinning rod.
One is deeper with pretty clear water.
Swim jig again, frogs around the edges, wacky rigged stick worms skipped under overhanging trees, and a mid depth crankbait is the real killer.
The third lake is shallow and muddy with ditches and channels. Lily pads are the main cover.
Swim jig yet again, frogs and flipping baits in the lily pads, and a big worm in and around those ditches.
Chatterbaits will get them in all three, but only when they’re really turned on.
Up north in Connecticut. Hi Scott. I been fishing up here for 50 years and if I had to pick one Fall bait [before it gets real cold] I'm talking 60-70 days maybe down to 40 at night would be a Spinnerbait- White w/gold Colorado or Black w/gold Colorado. Fast or slow roll shoreline, drop offs, moving water. Thanks Scott. Love watching your Dad too, he's awesome.
I'm a sucker for moving topwater, and that Googan Hound is just so fun to throw. Especially that bone color. Man, bass just hit that thing so hard for me up here in Ohio!
I've been killing them on the hound in Texas
Hardcore tournament crappie angler here, in the spring and this time of year we target a lot of lay downs. Catch a ton of bass mixed in using 1/16 ounce jigs and 2 1/2 inch tubes. Just a vertical jigging presentation.
Going small is key for me too. Here on Lake Chickamauga, everyone and their brother will be throwing a frog and punching the mats. I like to move to a more subtle presentation, and throw a small swimbait on light line around the edge of those mats.
My FAVORITE😁fishing technique is throwing crankbaits. I've had great luck with red to orangish/brown colors, something craw related
Just moved to FL a year ago now and I remember last Oct catching my PB 7.2lb out of the lake behind my parents house and it was on a popper, I've always loved the excitement from top water fishing and also really started throwing weedless flukes and catching them like crazy. Love your Video's Scott keep it up. Hope to meet you one down here in FL at one of the tournament stops !!!
Can’t wait to throw that Googan white Saucy Swimmer this fall! Moving baits is what I’m going to try. Have a blessed day anyone reading!
Lets see, October..... Id definitely have to say that crankbaits used to be my main October bait. But nowadays as every Yahoo and lazy fisherman out there can beat the bank burning every lipless and squarebill from the 21st century and on, id say my confidence lies with a spinnerbait. The blades r and awesome eye catcher and small bait fish imitators to the fish. And always with a trailer, either a 3.8" keitech or a 4.3" keitech, r my only options... I just wanna give Scott a huge shout out and appreciation for sharing his knowledge of fishing thats only acquired from a lifelong love and passion from this sport, a million times THANK YOU! Long live the king!
Bill Lewis Stutter Step, making that 180 degree turn drives them crazy. It's really easy to walk the dog with it too. Scrounger head with a split tail fluke, I normally fish a 4 inch Arkansas Shiner. A favorite bottom bait is a wobble head with a 4/0 EWG hook. I like using a NetBait Paca craw. Insert a small piece of foam in the hollow opening, this will help it stand up better, plus is a good place to spray craw scent onto the bait. Then hold on, them big ones like this bait.
Fall time especially in October fishing for smallmouth here in Colorado I use the smaller bandito bug, in which, the bandito bug is my favorite soft plastic. I put it on a ZMan ned rig jig, cast it out, let it sink, and start jigging.
I'm a fisherman in SC, fishing several lakes from piers, docks or shore. Most, if not all, lakes have a rocky bottom or structure to get hung up on. So I fish mostly weedless, and the bait that gives me the most options is the swimbait. Currently, what's working for me, are the flukes, preferably white or with some white in it. They catch both largemouth and smallies keeping it 2-3 feet of the bottom.
October is all about the shad. So for me you can’t forget the best bait for mimicking the shad, a good ole fashioned spinner bait. My personal favorite is a humdinger 1/4 oz solid white, with a big chrome willow blade and a gold Colorado blade. I use a zoom twin tail trailer in white as well. I’m from Louisiana and fish a lot of trees and grass. This spinner bait has a thinner wire which allows the blades to really move but is extremely weedless. This also works really well for me on Sam Rayburn and Toledo bend. Try it for yourself. Cover water with the always faithful spinnerbait
I love fishing top water in October. Poppers, jerkbaits, buzzbaits, walkingbaits, andwakebaits.
Ned rig with a zman trailer. On the cold morning when the fish are just getting a little active you can fish it slow and later in the day when temps warm up you can pop it and throw it in rock areas, weed edges and are sure to get a bunch of bites
My favorite lure is a square bill crank bait with blue gill and shad colors. I fish it by slowly reeling in stopping and letting it float to the top, then i repeat the process with the occasional pop
I’m an old school kinda guy living on a black water tidal river. That old floating worm or fluke is deadly as these fish start moving back shallow. I enjoy the vids Scott and wish you all the luck next season on the elites👊🏼
Hey Scott, Texas panhandle fisher here. It’s hard to beat the fun of any topwater during the fall. Whopper plopper or revolver have produced some big bites for us recently. If topwater fails, swim baits are also hot. Thanks for great videos. Keep them coming.
Up in Canada favorite fall time lures for clear water is usually a soft plastic paddle tail in white and for murky water some bright or dark paddle tail or finesse minnow! Always love watching your videos from Canada!
Classic Act. Thanks for All! Your Family have been A Great Inspiration to So Many Generations of Fishermen and Fisherwomen.
I love chucking a lipless crank from the bank. Cover tons of water fast and get the basses attention
Hey Scott, my favorite in the fall is a white/ chartreuse chatter bait with a matching colored swimbait. I’ll typically throw it out and let it down fall and give it some twitches to get a reaction bite. But if that fails I’ll throw a football jig with a craw on it followed with the same process! Always fun.
Love the top water bite ,Zara spook my favorite.grew up watching your dad and enjoy watching both of you now, thank you
Those hats are sick! I'm a bandito man myself on a texas rig, it's my go to when I get frustrated lol
Up in wisconsin fishing a river system i usually use a 1/4-5/16th jig with a krackin craw, medium diving crank in 5-10ft, drop shotting, jerkbaits, and a small swimbait/swimjigs.
Love throwing Willow blade spinner baits with either all white or white/chartreuse skirts for fall bass.
My go to October bait is definitely a big swim bait, nothing better than finding bait fish off of a shallow flat with access to deep water and fishing the break around the point sitting in deep water tends to be a blessing for me!
I appreciate the information. I'm boat captain for my grandson, fishing for the high school, but my knowledge is lacking. Other members of the team came back talking about meeting you at the nationals.
49 years old just started fishing this year First October ever for me, going to try Boo Jig with a jackal archelon soft craw trail. Enjoyed your video
I live in KY and fish some deep water lakes and reservoirs like barren, cumberland, and dale hollow. My favorite topwater baits are Zara spook and whopper poppers. Other favorites for this time of year are white double willow spinnerbaits, swim baits, and crank baits.
🔥vid - favorite bait for me right now has been a 1/2 oz okechobee craw colored football jig with a googan baits rattlin chunk trailer!
I'll never forget a buzz bait bite I experienced one fall, top water fishing is my favorite way to fish.
For me my fav is the weightless brush hog, baby or regular.that slow slow fall is perfect!
Have to start each fall day with a square bill and spinner bait and adjust from there. Try silent and rattles, and different colors. No luck, switch up to a slower presentation with a senko or a shakey head on shallow cover.
Frogging or flipping on Kissimmee chain this time of year is hands down my favorite this time of year
In Missouri I throw a 1/2 to 3/4 ounce spinner bait with a white/shad colored skirt, double willow leaf blades, and a Keitech swimbait for a trailer.
Hey Scott! In October, my go to is the whopper plopper or ‘walkin the dog’ spooks in the shallows during the morning before bright daylight!
October- My go to bait is a 1/2oz spinnerbait. More specifically a R2S Ish Monroe Bling series in BIG MONEY w/double nickel willow leaf blades combined with a Kalin 5" grub in white. The longer grub will give you plenty of room for a trailer hook and still get great action from the trailer.
This is also my go to bait in pre-spawn. Water temperature hits 49-51 degrees F this setup will absolutely destroy the big bass. Slow roll this setup, (drag the bottom) down to 15' on main lake points and secondary points. I promise, you will not be disappointed!
I love cracking on shallow structure with something like a dt10
My favorite technique in the fall is fishing on a kayak on small rivers throwing a any kind of white soft plastic swim bait onto the roots of submerged timber and swimming it off of the tree.... those bass love that stuff and you will love seeing that bass come out from the depths to chew on your bait! And if you keep getting bites but no hook set... drop down in size of the plastic! October can be tough! Love ya team SMC!!!!
The type of lure I like throwing in the month of October is a crankbait all you do is fish it around docks or around grass you just burn the crank and you will get bass
I use a fluke with the rubber tassels like a spinner bait and a stainless front piece like a crankbait. It's the trifecta of the top 3 fall baits.
12- 14 pound line with 5 once led with a finesse bait or a swim bait
My favorte way is slowly drag a1/4oz pivot head with plastics works very well
Like most bass guys I love throwing top water. Walking baits and flukes are top of my list. Keep moving fast and cover lots of water
My favorite technique in October is definitely burning chatterbaits and squarebills by shallow docks. Love the vids!!

This video is making write notes for Watts Bar tournament in TN. Getting excited for Fall Bassin!! Thx for the tips Scott!!
I like using top water when the water temperature first starts to drop down and ones that top water bite stops like getting later in the day or something I will go to a drop shot or a shake head
Hi scott, Im a med/retired marine, 2 yrs in central Fl. I actually ran into last dec. On hdwatwrs along with ur Daughter. I fish in my kayak almost every day in Stick marsh. My all time goto bait has to be my junebug mag, spdwrm nd 3/8 Booyah GS spinnerbait. Ur dghter is an outstanding angler.
Thanks for ur time brother!!
I drag a shaky head slow on the bottom. Chatter bait in and around grass. Jerk bait and or double fluke rig on schooling fish.
October in Oklahoma in muddy rivers my go to baits is Top water in the morning, Rouster tails and Raddle traps in after noon then rubber worms. if nothing works then live minnos. if nothing works .. well then ante no fish there, move spots, Fish on Scott!!!.Have nice day. Guy
in the mornings i love starting off with some sort of topwater. usually a showerblows type walking bait or popper. then when the sun gets up and we start getting a little wind ill switch over to a 3/8 shad colored swim jig with a swimbait trailer. always fishing shallow.
What's up?? I have chosen you as one of the giveaway winners! DM Dylan on instagram @Dylan.m.may with shipping details and he will get it out as soon as possible!
@@ScottMartinChallenge awesome! just reached out to him via insta. thank you!
In October I like throwing a weightless fluke and a frog around lily pad/ grass patches. When I'm not in grass, I like using buzzbaits and a Texas rig around lay downs for those fish that are transitioning to hard cover. Thanks for all of the awesome content you make and sharing great tips.
I’m throwing a speed worm and a lipless crank bait on the Harris Chain! Great video, Scott! Thanks.
Tailspins when around schools of shad. If the bass are busting, walking bait. Spinnerbait and square bill up shallow.
my grandfather's old 3" black jitterbug.. with a 1 ft leder tied on to the back hook dragging a floating fly
My favorite baits to throw during this month is a hogan squad frog in the morning, then later on in the day I like to throw a Texas rig with a green pumpkin baby brush hog, also I like to throw spinnerbaits and swimming jigs along flooded timber and stick ups.
I live in Washington state and October is great for the clutch. They kill the lipless because it mimics the bait fish. You can go wrong with a weightless dart as well.
I love the square bill, frogs, and rat-L- trap lipless
When the water temps drop and the Smallmouth go shallow and heavy on the feedbag, it's a great time to throw a squarebill crankbait!! I love fall cranking.
My favorite baite is a black and blue and a green watermelon strike king worm and I Texas rig it with a bullet weight and I do this all year round and have a lot of luck I’m from Michigan and it gets really cold up here
Hey scott, met you at the columbus fishing expo. I Listened to your chatterbait lessons that you gave up on stage and took those lessons to the water during all seasons. The versatility of the chatterbait makes it an excellent bait all through out the different phases of the fall season. And it has became my go to anywhere I go.
Go to baits would definitely be a megabass jerkbait, buzzbait, lipless crank, and a walking bait. Have everyone of these on my deck in fall
I love throwing the big Zara spook in places others don't, yes i get hung but i catch some very nice Bass doing it.😊
in my area of central, MS I stick with a 6.5in ribbon tail motor oil colored worm with a 1/16 oz weight. I can fish it slow or reel it in at a moderate speed and catch catch catch!
My favorite baits for Oct here in Texas are topwaters! Whopper plopper and Boy Howdy are my favorites, along with frogs and buzbaits. Enjoy the content!
Thanks for the tips. I like throwing lipless crankbaits and swim jigs.
I love anything top water this time of year. Only been fishing for a little over a year and haven’t been able to find a”go-to” yet
Right now for fall fishing I’ve been picking 2-5 lbers off with a 3/4 oz Carolina rig with a green pumpkin trick worm
All I know how to do is put live bait on my hook and wait for fish and I just love watching your videos and not understanding what your saying and I really want to get into fake baits so I can finally get what your saying so one of those boxes would be a great and awesome tool to get me started I’m 14 and trying to have fun love your vid
pink soft plastic jerkbait is one of my favorite fall baits. or even a white paddle tail with a white swim jig
Green pumpkin jig is my favorite when they are feeding up.
Great video. I love throwing a frog and the ol faithful Beatle spin, usually white.
I love a spinnerbait, white or neutral in color, 2 blades, and a mulicolor skirt. Drag it across points or over structure slowly, twitching it occassionally.
First in the AM I'll do some Roland Martin fall fishing with SPRO BronzeEye and FlippinFrog...
Second I'll do Scott/Roland Martin fall fishing with Chatterbait w/ Zako...
Third small swimbaits...
Forth Small Crank Bait or Lipless...
Lastly Senko any drop shot, punching etc...
Im a new angler. Been trying out a bunch of different things to see what catches the most in the lakes around my house and so far I have been loving a texas rigged trick worm. The bass around here love it and i cant get enough of the excitement from catching fish!
I love a slow moving SUSPENDING jerkbait. As the weather gets colder typically you work the bait slower. End of summer early fall it's fast still 4 or 5 twitches before a pause. As it gets colder I get down to 1 or 2 and long pause. Jerkbait! Soft and hardbodied are beast in fall!!
First I throw a frog to see if there’s any fish still up then in throw a jig with paddle tail added on to it then u kinda pop it just so the fish can see it move and that’s my Technique for fishing in October
Spinnerbait 1/2oz, chartreuse white (strike king) works in my local ponds and lakes
My Oct go to is always a swim jig w a paddle tail trailer. This Oct it has been the grass Hero and saucy swimmer combo. It is killer all fall long.
Pearl red eye shad, I use my graphs to find the bait stacked up and attack. Don’t need them to be schooling. If the bass stay low, count you bait down to them.
I'm in the Houston area, so soft plastic work great, but I like to through a roster tail latter in the morning and top water first thing in the morning.
I tend to go small forst part of the month seim jigs and smaller swimbaits. Topwaters poppers buzzbaits and frogs then i seitch uo and go big walking baits, swim jigs with big paddle tail trailer and we cant forget spinnerbaits.
I love the finesse tactic. Ive enjoyed slowing down and really understanding the areas I fish, bottom wise lol. Feeing that bottom and paying close attention, patience, has caused me to greatly benefit and increase my catches 🤙🏽🤙🏽
In SoCal I’ve been using a 3.5 inch 3-5 ft diving black back silver jerk bait. On a 6.6 medium fast action spinning rod and get real aggressive with the jerk. And they have been killing it
My go to technique for Oct is a 1/2 white spinnerbait fishing lay downs in the back of coves or flipping a creature style bait .
I like to take a Carolina rig tie to braid then take 6to8lb line leader then tie on micro crankbait on drag it on bottom stop it let the lure float back up caught some nice fish doing this
My favorite technique in October is the spinnerbait, it catches big fish everywhere
My favorite October baits - swim jig, shad pattern crank bait, spinner bait
My favourite bait in October is a brown wacky worm and the technique I include is jigging the bait constantly till i secure a bait
