@@RidingBikesinSanDiegoI used to be young and dumb(er) and would use Pershing, at night, full speed to get back to my apartment downtown from my girlfriend's NP apartment. If this all existed when I was 26, I could more SAFELY be dumb, haha. San Diego is so much better now than it was then, but yeah still have a long way to go!
You probably would have had to be hopping on and off the sidewalk with how narrow it is and the street signs that are in the middle of it. Hopefully, they'll eventually extend the bus/bike lane further.
Lots of good shops in the neighborhood. A nice thing about MJ's is that it's really spacious inside, so I never feel like I'm in the way with a few other people in there.
I've gotten some good stuff at Adams, and they've serviced a bunch of my bikes! The place has changed over the years (including ownership) but they've always been pretty dependable.
Intersections like this are too complex. I'm pretty sure most drivers are making errors rather than intentionally disregarding those signs. My question is: If it says Bus Only, are bikes supposed to go in it? Can you cite the code that specifically allows for that? I am so confused by these things and would love to really know.
The sign at the corner right at the beginning is typical around here, and says "Bus Only" followed by "Bikes OK," with a few of them scattered around the way.
I gotta ride my bike more, I have an old beach cruiser bike that I've used down by Mission Beach area a lot.
When I lived on Kansas I NEVER biked down University. This would've been a game changer.
I've been using it more, for sure. But as another commenter pointed out, coming back east is pretty dangerous.

And the side streets don't cross Florida, unless you go a couple of blocks out of the way, and those jogs aren't the safest places to weave around.
MJ’s!!
It's a good shop! I like the Marins, but not sure if I'll be getting one just yet...
Last time I rode University I went east of Park, it was scary and bad. i actually went out of my way to El Cajon blvd and rode the bus lane.
Why they put a bus/bike lane in westbound but not east, I simply don't understand.
I'll have to visit that bike shop. Thanks for mentioning it.

I've been slowly getting around to the various shops. Last one was Adams Ave, which I liked a lot. Others, not so much.

That’s where I got my Marin.
