Asheville NC isn’t coming back anytime soon. They same every single home has something wrong. Roofs, windows flooding etc. I’m in SW Va off the Blueridge Parkway still no power but we do have a generator. Went to hotel 3 nights. It was supposed to be back on by this afternoon . Gas is hard to get but we drove a ways and got some. My husband fell and messed up his knee that’s replaced. At least gas is down $2.30 a gallon today. Some man tried to walk into out motel room last night 3 times but we had that top lock locked. The manager dealt with him. Chimney rock in NC is gone and a whole town slid off a mountain today I heard. We have rain now for next 2 days. Wtheck. I’d come bring you a generator if I was closer. I’m surprised no one from church has but do they know ? Love you Ms Helen Wyatt !

You are amazing Miss Helen to get on here under the circumstances you are facing. I went through cyclone Alby in Western Australia in 1978…it was so scary, my daughter was 12 weeks old. The fires after the storm were out of control …Mother nature let us know who was boss that day…sending a big hug to surround and blessings to you Miss Helen…stay strong. ❣️

Helen l know things are rough for you and your family right now. But at least your situation will get better. I don't know if you are able to watch the news yet. Florida and North Carolina have areas that are basically hopeless. Well over 100 lives have been lost. Far more are missing or unaccounted for. The destruction that has occurred from this hurricane is unbelievable. And we may have more bad weather coming in next week. Be careful when you go near the pond. You know snakes have been seen there in the past. Just a suggestion, canned heat would be a way for you to heat some of your food and make coffee. Our Dollar Tree store sells it and probably Dollar General and Walmart. God bless and continue to keep you in His care.
GEORGIA has some places that are in terrible shape also and they have not been able to check alot of areas so more people may be trapped and dead. It was state wide destruction in Georgia. Georgia is a big state. There is counties that have roads that it takes you hours to get down where it used to only take 30 minutes because of trees. There are a lot of areas that are being told it will be months before their power is restored. I know of looting happening in some of the rural areas and people pulling guns on others at gas stations. It is very bad in Georgia also I live there not assume you know because you watched the news
I have family in 3 different parts of Florida and they have electric power right now I DO NOT. Also they didn't have a lot of friends with trees sitting in there houses.
I have lived in Georgia since my birth in 1977 I have never seen this
Kind of destruction. My father was a lineman and he never dealt with this in Georgia.

Be blessed with what you still have. Here in western North Carolina, lives have been taken and unaccounted for. Roads washed away, homes washed away with people in them, mudslides, downed power lines, no cell service. Just hold on to your faith and be thankful

GM Helen i lost all my food too also no electricity,i do have a generator now but food was already ruined before i got it. My niece died this am . Western NC is in a mess. I have a fan but no air but a country girl can survive❤

There are so many that lost family lost their homes and have nothing left. you are alive have a roof over your head and the means to buy food , water etc.. So many do not have a dime to their name. You at least have cell service because many do not even have that to even find out if their loved ones are alive. People need to just pray for others and not focus on their little problems. The world is scary and many need prayers. Those are the ones who I am concerned about at the moment.
Be thankful you still have a house and a town. There are folks in other places that the whole town is gone and folks have died!!!! So when you think it’s bad just look around and be thankful you still have your life!!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I'm 78 i have been busy doing the same thing here in Ohio. I raked and picked up broken limbs on a acre put about 8 big loads I finally tied the tarp to my riding lawn mower and pulled them to my burn pile. Can't burn too dry .It's 4 days later I still haven't got it all done. I cried but I just can't ask for help if my 2 boys don't offer so be it. Mybdaughter helps me lots.I forgive them the Good Lord knows best. We are blessed we havent lost our loved ones or our home like North C. Florida and many places have been devastated. They need prayers and LOTS OF HELP. NOT GETTING MUCH HELP IT IS SO SAD THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE IN OUR COUNTRY WHERE ARE THEY IN TIME OF NEED?? On another thought when we Visit my daughter we have to wear a coat or wrap in a blanket. God bless you sweet lady. He has blessed us so much.❤ i watch you as much as I can.

Helen, you can charge your devices without driving around. Put the key in 'accessories' position. You'll need to crank your engine about every 30 minutes or so , in order to not kill the battery. I'm thinking of you!!❤️❤️
You are an amazing woman Ms Helen. No matter what obstacles are in front of you, you are over coming them. You are so inspirational. In Australia we have a rural service called SES operated by wonderful volunteers that work aimlessly to clear these sort of disasters up..clear trees, rescue people, etc. you are your own SES..

You have your family and house and you also have you car and gas to use it.
For the future, you can fill empty bottles, like milk gallons or pop bottles and have them stacked somewhere close to your chickens. But not in a place where they would get too hot or freeze.
And refill them from time to time so they are fairly fresh.

Miss Helen, it's all out of your control. Don't let it get you so worked up. And Danny didn't need to be calling you about Tammy. He called emergency services and didn't know what, if anything was wrong. It only got you more anxious. And you don't need that. He could've updated you when all was checked out. And putting gas in a generator can be done by Danny.
5 gallons of water is too heavy for you to be lugging. Either put it in a wheelbarrow or wagon to make it a little easier. Or get several 5 gal. buckets and ask Steven to drive them up to the chicken area in his side by side so you have water at the ready.
Cody always gives you good info. Now you know how to charge your equipment in a new way. Try not to worry about things you cannot control.❤

Hi Helen, could you try a pair of strong reading glasses to help you read the comments? You can buy them over the counter in many stores and they are rated for how strong they are. Take your phone with you to the store and try a few on and see if any of them enable you to read small print on your phone? Just a thought. 🙂 I hope they get your electric on soon and things get back to normal. Yes, you are awesome, for sure! Doing all of that very hard work alone at your age. Not many could do that! You remind me of my mother. She could outwork the younger generation by a mile any day of the week!
