Yes, Singapore is a great place, but there are two things which aren't so great. 1. The death penalty. Most civilised nations, and many states in the USA have abolished this barbaric form of punishment. The most civilsed country in this regard is Sweden, which hasn't executed anybody since 1910. 2. This foreign labour includes 'helpers' or 'housemaids'. The craziness of this is that Singaporean mothers employ them to look after their children so that they can work. The other main employment is labour such as cleaners, construction workers, factory workers, shop workers, workers in 'hawker centres' etc. Many Singaporeans tend to look down on these workders, although the city state could not function without them.

Like what?? As a foreigner from North America living in Singapore for the past 18 years, Singapore is not the place to live if you love guns, crime, drugs, assaults, rape, theft and pollution!!
A couple things I learned when I had to work there in the late 80's. Punishment for violation of a law is very harsh including caning and execution. Laws include no littering. If you are found to have any drug you are executed. To own a car you first have to pay a 100% tax on the price of the vehicle. Registration, insurance and fuel are expensive. After a vehicle reaches a certain age it is no longer allowed on the road.
Not sure if lining road with trees does much compared to the concrete jungle. The city is still super hot as the concrete traps so much heat in the lower atmosphere. There are fewer and fewer patches of forest (eg tengah), making way for more residential or commercial concrete or glass buildings. And each Singaporean mostly speak only 2 out of the 4 languages mentioned: English and 1 mother tongue, not 4. But it is a language fabric as we mix vocabulary of different languages and dialects in the same sentence as if it's a single language.
We Indian Tamils are proud that, our well known n oldest pioneer language of our Mother tongue Tamil of Tamil Nadu, which is one among the union state of India, is their National language in law abiding, economically Strong country. India should understand the power of prestigious old language Tamil, which is recognised by their National language and was used in the Trade for many countries of the world, from the ancient times. Unfortunately some of so called cheap and criminal Politicians, try to kill the beautiful oldest language by cunningly, in India.

This documentary shows shocking facts, but is Singapore really that perfect? It makes you wonder if they're hiding bigger issues behind their clean image.
Still living on the history of the opium trade
I'd love to visit, but likely never will.
