Work and Pray: Living the Psalms with the Nuns of Regina Laudis
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 гру 2024
- The Benedictine nuns of Regina Laudis, living in simple and secluded devotion in Bethlehem, Connecticut, bear witness to the power of music -- and especially the Psalms -- to act upon and within individual and collective memories. The viewer enters a world of spiritual suppleness and lofty melodies, a world whose timeless beauty offers a retreat for the troubled contemporary spirit.

Thank You this is how I want to live instead of city life that distresses my soul 🙏✨
I'm a sophomore in high school, and I have been seriously contemplating the order of St. Benedict at this particular abbey once I finish college, and so finding this video was a Godsend. Praise be our Lord and God, and please pray for me!
I am reading this 9 months later. I shall pray for you. God Bless you and thank you for considering offering yourself so selflessly.
Ave Maria!
Don’t do it, you’re so young and this is not normal. Why in earth would you willingly want to be locked up in a random building in the middle of nowhere??? There’s nothing in the Bible, the actual Bible that says to do this. There’s plenty of ways to be a strong Christian in your community while also living a normal life. Now i’m not judging the people here, or anyone that believes this is right. I’m just saying, from an outsiders pov (I was brought up in an extremely active Christian family. Just not Catholic) this is not a normal way of life. Live your life, build a family, get a good job, find a church you like and be a part of it. Don’t lock yourself away like this. Sorry I had to say it.
@@PrestonHazard you're not a Catholic, no wonder you don't get it.
@@PrestonHazardI’ve known sisters & Nuns my entire life. I seriously contemplated becoming a Nun for many years. It’s is very normal for those called to love & serve God in a radical act of total love for God. I have never known a Nun to not radiate and be filled with a joy that outweighs any of the sacrifices they make .
Nuns are a gift for us Christians. May God bless them.

Please pray for my Uncle, Thomas Edward Bray of Orange, CA and Portland in Oregon, he passed away last night Blessed be God in His angels and in His saints. Thank you.
Thank you Benedictine nuns of Regina Laudis🙏🏽❤
I've been a Benedictine Oblate for 44years and I love Benedictine sisters and the Rule..
I lack the gift and gifts that would be needed to comment on so much wisdom and beauty. Never have seen an equivalent portrait of contemplative life.
How I love these holy nuns. May the Lord of the harvest send more laborers into your monastery. God bless your community.
Thank you Jesus for your brides that pray for our priest and the world. We have the traditional Latin Mass for the children in our Classical School I am praying that we can have it daily. The are so reverent at the Latin Mass and communion on the tongue and kneeling and singing the Latin lifts us up to heaven please pray for our school ST. Thomas the Apostle

Thank you for your yes to Jesus
This was an unexpected and interesting video which I happened upon - God's timing - and I have ordered the biography of Mother Benedict Duss now after watching this. I appreciated their candour, their vulnerability and their obvious joy.
It is a good book. I have been to Regina Laudis.
@@christinereich6050 I have now read it. I devoured the book, In could not put it down. How lovely to have visited.
@@catherinenunan3584 Wasn't it interesting? Do you know that Mother Georgina Patton is General Patton's granddaughter? I met her and she is lovely .
@@christinereich6050 yes, I remember reading about it in the book and that beautiful, 'coincidental' God connection between the family and the nuns. God was clearly moving in her life and in many lives right from the start of the war. I find that so comforting.
@@catherinenunan3584 I read the book about 15 years ago , so I didn't realize she was in the book. I was thrilled to meet her in real life because she was so down to earth and full of joy.
Bless you Sisters 🙏🙏
Very uplifting & may our Good Lord send many more vocations and as St Benedict exhorts: Obey without delay
in ENDLESS PRAISE to our ETERNAL TRIUNE GOD!!! Gloria Deo
Mother Delores is still so beautiful! Monastic life has definitely agreed with her. Praised be Jesus & Mary!
I appreciate the willingness of Regina Laudis nuns and leadership to share what they are all about. May this draw young women into the monastic life. I heard that the number of women wanting to enter the monastic life has gone down tremendously. May the young women of today be stirred up to seek the silence and solitude of monastic life for the purpose of attaining greater intimacy with God and engage in worship of God, and prayer for humanity.
This is so beautiful and moving. The candor in the midst of trial and love while working always to give praise to God brings peace.
Wonderful intro to the Benedictine life. Thanks for posting 😊
So nice to see this video again after a long time -- I own the video but haven't played it in years. Dropping into the rhythm of the Abbey just by listening and watching! What a gift!
What a beautiful rendition of a life of work and prayer through the depth of word and song/Psalms and chanting. Touched the heart. Thank you.
Beautiful prayerful sharing that allows you join in this dear ancient prayer
Such a beautiful way to approach life ,
Much appreciated
Godspeed ❤
Excellent
The LAW (God's Law, Word, precepts, commands) of the Lord reveals the nature and character of God. God gave us His Law (His Word) to obey, to live for the purpose of bringing us into harmony with Him. This is why the psalmist says he delights in the Law. It's tantamount to saying he delights in God! His beauty, His holiness, His majesty, His goodness, His righteousness and justice, His wisdom.
I very much appreciate the translation. I get frustrated when I don't understand the Latin. I am 76 and am not feeling well. We don't know what's wrong. Getting drs appts etc, can be frustrating. I have thought of you more than once today. I want to be open to change even at my age. You have brought me strength. When my mother was dying, I studied the Benedictine Rule, which helped me. You have made it so much clearer. I hope we hear from you again.
It is just past midnight on a Thursday. I happened here by accident. I saw your post. I say a prayer for you. I'm thinking of you, lifting you up to our Father in heaven, probably while you sleep, (hopefully). I know His angels are around you. In Christ's healing power, K. age 55 southeast USA
How beautiful! Praised be God!

❤ thank you, spectacular video...❤️🔥🙏💞
This is an extraordinary video of grace and beauty and the gift of a prayerful life. A simple life well lived in community. Blessings are evident here. These intelligent women have leaned into God for defining their lives. Not an easy life, necessarily, but a meaningful one.

❤❤❤
were I not married, this is where I'd be God willing. I sing the little office of the blessed Vergin of Mary in latin it is so forfilling for my soul that I find myself totally in peace in rest with the Lord...God had long put this in my heart and I longed for the little office even though I couldnt get my hands on it nor did I understand what it meant. I am still searching, I would like to join a tird order or become an Oblate but I hadnt found my order yet. The nuns of Regina Laudis are the closest to what I have in my soul. Is this comunity in Italy????? are there other orders that sing the liturgy in latin???
This monastery is in Connecticut, USA.

Is this not the Abbey where the actress Dolores Hart joined in 1960's?
Yes. She is reading in the Refectory here
Why do the nuns bow before their "superiors" and to each other as they go forward?
They are bowing to Christ present in them.😊
