@@DeathsGarden-oz9ggvery wrong. You harvest corn using a combine or just manually. This specific header is used to make chaff/maize. There's supposed to be a controllable curved pipe to load it into the trailer, but maybe they're doing it for shits and giggles.
I think he forgot a piece of the machine. There is supposed to be a large curved pipe that puts the chopped corn in the hopper. It's what is called a silage once it is put in a pile or pit and covered to ferment. Some of the best cattle feed for winter money can buy. This is just mulching it up and putting it in the air. Wonder if they are just destroying it to fertilize the field? I would have thought they would have used a cheaper crop to do that with.
@@IndustrialParrot2816 Yes, but the machine has to catch it into a bin or hopper to be able to put it into a chaff pit to ferment. It is just flying into the air. Other than crop damage by disease, I do not know why they would be doing this. They should have a piece that is a curved part that directs the chaff into the hopper on the back or into a trailer. This is just flying into the air. WHY?
@@IndustrialParrot2816 not really in this case its just chopped maize. Maize silage. Chaff comes from other crops when they are all chopped. There's many diferent types of silage, from maize silage (this one), Grass silage, haylage. etc Whole crop silage is the one from fermented chaff
Looks like this machine is missing some part that collects the silage. The driver looks unaware of this waste or maybe he is a fresher who knows just driving. Needs to check the manual.
It doesn't really matter whether it's collected or not. It's a waist anyway. Because it's cow feed, it is very inefficient use of soil and energy. It actually costs more energy to produce this corn than it provides. Corn for bio fuel has the same problem.

Ok, this is a video of a self-propelled forage harvester with bunker. Certainly not an ordinary forage harvester, but not completely unknown or totally new either! Looks very much like home-made from a new rear-mounted drum pickup in rear-sliding tractor mode, a few tractor parts such as axles, engine and gearboxes and a mounted bunker. And no, it is in no way suitable for harvesting corn - neither as a corn thresher nor as a cob collector. The pickup alone would ruin such plans. To know this, however, it is not enough to be a farmer....... ;)
You surely was not a farmer. Otherwise you would not write such nonsense, because you would realise that the maize is in the "ensiling" stage and not yet ripe enough for cob or grain harvesting.
if you look closely at the end of the video when you can see in from the side of the machine , there is no way for any crop to get back through. there is no feeder house,or any tube of any kind.
