There's a reason dragsters are long and skinny, the length lends them a lot more stability at high speed. It also allows a much higher power/aerodynamic drag ratio as well, since bigger motors and batteries can be fitted into it, since the length allows for more volume inside versus the cross section of drag. With a bit more stiffening (like installing a carbon fiber spine over the board) and power, this noodle could easily do 200mph... Plus better tires, can't forget those lol.
The first time you used the old Windows error sound in whatever video it was, I cackled. Love your work :D You and Raz have excellent chemistry, too. The last month on your channel has been an absolute blast!
Yes - Raz and Kev do make a fun pairing to watch. I think it has to do with the contrast between these two "characters". One a scrappy little Brit who feigns incompetence on the regular but is much smarter than he lets on. The other a self-assured, seemingly self-taught engineer whose builds are rolling art. A modern day Odd Couple.
Kev, the mad scientist. When he first began building the Sausage, I thought it was official, Kev's gone mad. Now we are all witnessing the fruits of his labor. Coming soon to an RC competition near you, the Sausage Speed/Jump/Bash Class. Incredible, great work Kev!
Suggestions for sausage prep; Before you glue the new tires, maybe get some gorilla tape on the inside of tire. Only a few layers, if you do too much, you might fight balance issues. I've done this with non belted, and it made them tremendously more durable at high speeds.
he's done that and they've blown apart anyways. When bugatti tests their cars, they replace the tires after one or two runs because the stress they're under is tremendous. Top AA fuel dragsters are the same: they get 2 to 3 runs out of a set before they change them. BTW: tire diameter has a lot to do with it. Larger tires spin slower per speed BUT you get into the more material more expansion issue.
That won't work. He needs some paddles. Cut them down and fill them with expanding foam. That's what we do with drag rails so they don't explode from unwinding at high RPM. The expanding foam will hold the tire together. You cant use them on the concrete but on grass and sand they work great.
@@muskokamike127 that doesn't apply to RCs, you're using the same rubber compounds but you're not even close to the amount of torque of a real sport car
@@kasuraga Definitely... how hard can it be to make a pre-formed steel mesh belting, and pop it in a tyre mould before pouring/injecting the compound? Seems like a gap in the market is there for something really reliable, so maybe it is harder in practice or someone would have done it by now. I guess it's hard because an RC tyre is doing many more RPMs than a car tyre at any given speed. the centrifugal force must be immense.
You can even get kevlar belted bicycle tires, you'd think it could be implemented at an RC scale. All those blow-outs because there's nothing to counter it.
Just a word of advice: you have a LOT of issues with the speed runs and tires. The pros only get 1 or 2 runs out of a set of tires you might want to take that into consideration. You are 100% correct: once you over stress them by a run, they are weakened so they will fail at some point.
If you make two 50 mph passes then that's 100 mph! I think you've got that in the bag with your 24S system. In all seriousness though, I think the sausage is my fave RC of yours. It's such a great concept and works so much better than you'd expect.
Kevin your always got something on the go and that keeps me coming back. I just got into the hobby in the last year I have a few airplanes but I’m scared to get into cars and trucks can get up there. I have come across a few vehicles from the late 90s. I’m just tracking down some parts now I got a nice original big foot 4 by 4. Hopefully I can get it running. Great video bro and it’s going to do 💯 mph or blow it up. Lol 😂👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Kev, you remind me so much of Tyrion Lannister from G.O.T’s with your goatee. P.s i love the sausage (2 things i didn’t imagine id be saying this evening! 😂).
Loving the sausage although I think hotdog would be a better name. Btw try turning your tyres inside out and wrapping a couple of layers of duct tape to the inside of them to stop them from ballooning
Kev you may try fitting a slightly larger pinion gear on the front which would increase the rpm on the front to keep it on the floor. Rally cars utilize a similar method by increasing the front whhels power. 5 or 10 % difference on rpm would do the trick.
Love the vid Kevin it was great, but I think u should of had the body on it for that run the debris would not of got in the speed controller, also some chassis strengtheners would help as well, run 3-5mm thick and 5mm wide down the full length of the vehicle should strengthen it by 50-60% and prevent bottoming out. Keep up the gd work 👏
I would recommend putting some bigger tires and slightly raise the suspension if you can do it have less resistance against the body in grass and bumps won’t affect it as much. That is only for off road though, on road you should pretty much do the opposite.
Run a few strands of fairly tough nylon fishing line in the valleys of the tread and secure with a drop of CA glue spaced evenly around the tyre. That will almost completely eliminate the ballooning and help reduce the chances of the tyres destroying themselves. Give it a bit of time to cool down between runs, cause you know how hot ROSSA cars get after one run, and they're not trying to fight their way through softer surfaces, and while you're waiting, top off the charge in your battery packs, and give the car a once over to make sure everything is as it should be. That was the usual formula for ROSSA meets here in Sydney Australia when we were running them regularly.
Wrap each tyre with some thin wire bands and twist it tight with pliers offsetting the twists from each other for balance , that will stop them exploding👍
The snowboard RC is the most unexpected performer ever. Might even work for 200mph with that incredible stability.
would be cool to see a road version!

im so glad yt recommended this channel, havent had rc car in 20 years but this is super fun to watch :D
97mph on 3 tires off road 😆 That's awesome 🔥
the sausage is legendary
the sausage never dies!!!!!

Seems like tyre tech is one of the biggest limitations with speed running rc's in this brushless era
Guess that's why a set of tires for a Bugatti Veyron costs 42k USD.
Yeah, REALLY need some steel belted tires to keep them together

Go Sausage go!
Any News regarding the Supersonic limitless?
Now, that's my kind of car! What a beauty!
Best Rc guy on UA-cam. Rc genius. 👍👍👍👍👍
Impressive I'm surprised you actually went fast🤣👍 Finally beat my off-road record of 94mph. Congratulations, 100mph around the corner!
More power and now it’s the “Smoked Sausage”!!! 🤣
It's Christmas every day for these two guys.
I don't think over ever seen badlands explode off a wheel like that. Bravo 👏
That dog was just living the best life you guys are just classic
I 💯% thought this truck would have had RAMANTOR wheels, gone 150mph and been sent to the moon by now
Needs to happen 🤣
Epic! Please don’t go any faster I need to catch up 😂
haha once i get 100 ill let you catch up!!
You’ve got to get Crispy out again mate 🤣👍🏻
@@TobyTeagan I’ve gotta rebuild

That sausage is insane! How about paddle tires and fill them with expanding foam. We do that so they don't expode in the sand from high RPM.
Keep on coming!!!
Wow we loved it. We enjoy watching you both
The best RC burnout. That was amazing!

I think he has stumbled on to something with these long RC's for higher speeds. There is a reason why dragsters are so long and can go over 300 mph 😉
Only problem with somethings like dragsters being long when wind catches them ive seen them flip over longways for some reason

yeah then it'd be more prone to "pulling" it along as opposed to pushing. It'll work on grass but they'd end up fighting each other on pavement.....
overdrive
I think rally cars do that to improve steering on loose ground, not really applicable here.
Yes correct also 4wd tractors do front wheels have to go a little bit faster
Amazing Kev I love the ingenuity!!!💯💯👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
You need to make it 6 wheel drive! $ in the back! Will look amazing Kev!
Laughing at the first tire lost it with the second tire thank you for the good laugh!!
Seems like tall tires would be a good way to gain some more mph...should try slapping some tall ones on the on-road cars for high speed runs
Awesomeness, you got the goal in the bag! But it does not need the wheel bar/wheels lol. That's weight savings potential, which means More Speed!!!
