honestly, sometimes these shelters are understaffed, and the security doesn't do much besides stay at the entrance of their post because technically, they aren't allowed to intervene . it's wild. even some of the people who are in the shelters don't belong there because of their needs and others don't belong because of violence. and the ones using drugs should be in an inpatient treatment but can't afford it. on top of that if you don't have a supportive staff who actually wants to help people forget about it.
I dont know if the individuals he was working with were dangerous but nobody especially at night should be by themselves. People are watching your evry move especially at night. Please be safe
Sadly numbers wise NYC is not as bad as say, Ft Lauderdale or Miami or St Louis or Baltimore so they can say things as such and not be lying. It's all a farce.
it is actually. What you fools don't realize is that it's a city of almost 9 million people so of course people are going to get murdered but it is still a lot safer then Memphis or St. Louis. New York City has more people than like 40 of the 50 states. If someone gets murdered in the state of Virginia are you going to make sly remarks about how Virginian leaders say it is a safe state. but someone was killed there!
Where are all the sherlocks who claim people don't want to go to shelter, because they have rules, THIS is the main reason... there not safe...for anyone.
A few years ago in a Queens homeless hotel shelter, a homeless client walked into the security break room and attacked a male guard. Homeless military veterans who were outside the shelter came back inside to break up the fight and restore order. Shelter staff can be more cruel, dirty, and rotten in how they talk to and treat homeless people to the point it might make a homeless person want to retaliate.
Earth is actually hella so if you accept it for what it really is then you will live a better life. Watching people struggling harder than you in life makes us all feel good earth is hella just accept it here we all are together in it

Not really a surprise since the security at this shelter punched me in the face, and the cops DID NOTHING. This is an Arcasia run facility, with security run by Arrow, most probability.

Someone needs to go around and talk with these people individually and find out why and how they became homeless in the first place. I get it if there was a fire and people are displaced or for some other naturally occurring reason. What I don't get is the amount of people that are homeless because they CHOSE to take a substance and therefore get themselves addicted to it and can't pass a drug test to be able to get and keep a job...or those people that would just rather live in a tent and shun the help of anyone. To those people that are just plain lazy and don't want to work, get off your duffs and grow a pair and get a job. To those people who are on drugs and alcohol, get into some therapy because drugs are not therapy. I'm talking about people are are here legally already. Stop playing Victim and contribute to society!
Bro it’s New York City. You can’t even afford to rent a room with a minimum wage job. You have to make at least $20/ hr to find a decent room if you’re lucky. So homelessness is no surprise. They voted for this year after year

The fact that everyone is okay with it sets them up for failure elsewhere. They keep telling me I'm being unrealistic when I say an automobile-less society is the answer. I don't think so though. I want to experiment with huge areas of America having no cars and see if conditions improve there.
Thank the Biden/Harris team for your troubles. Still voting democrat though, aren't ya? New York is now a failed city. The movie "Escape From New York" will one day be a reality. It is already close.
Nobody should be working alone around high crime individuals.

Yes, especially at a men's shelter. Armed guards at the front and where they meet each other
That's profiling! So illegal! So wrong!

The Governor and the Mayor must be proud of how safe NYC has become.
They are, they held a press conference about their success right after the lady was burned to death.
That’s right, NYC A total disaster AND failure in its finest! A third world city , not doubt.

Shelters are dangerous places because there are many different people with many different problems living there.
WORSE and WORSE. 😐
No cameras in front of shelter? Was it an illegal?
Dhs said they don’t run the shelter… anything to not be responsible smh
Quit that job it was a bowl of 💩

Bragg's office has already said there isn't enough evidence of a crime and they won't be seeking any charges.

You talking about a Manhattan D.A when the crime occurred in Brooklyn?
Illegals ??
No, an EDP
We don't know, it could someone who is U.S Citizen but they have mental issues

So if the shelters are not safe then why leave the subway station to go their?
But Hochul said things are better....
I'm from Texas and we have 3 busses on the way. Thank you NYC for opening your homes and stepping up!
What are you talking about? NYC closed 25+ shelters. They’re coming back down there
Big mad 😡

How do you even know when someone’s undocumented in Texas? They look and sound exactly like Texans.

It's the safest city alright; the safest for criminals because they never press charges!
And that corner doesn’t even look sketchy at all….
Thus the reason I’ve BEEN left the shelter system MANY years ago
I’ll sleep in the subway tunnels before I’ll EVER sleep in the shelters again 🤦🏽
Can we see Hochul have another press conference with new stats that NOW crime is down?
Unhoused.
no more shelters
