Firstly, Russia tried to improve its relationship with the USA and EU... even tried to join NATO. But NATO kept expanding towards the Russian border, despite warnings from Putin.
As for China, the USA has been aggressively trying to suppress China's economic growth... this has resulted in China's military development. The further American tech sanctions has made things worse.
The massive American sanctions against Russia plus the push for Europe to do the same was the final straw for Putin.
