I own and love the R-S700 and the newer R-N803D from the same 2 channel stereo receiver line, Yamaha absolutely knocked it out of the park with this R-N2000. Fantastic in every sense!
As the owner of both the R-N803 and an NAD M10v2, I have to say that the 2000a is miles beyond. I just finished setting it up and, for the first time in a long while, I am able to leave the bass at neutral. The Wharfedale Lintons sound very different than on the other two. For once, I get it! They are indeed laid back, just not on the other two amps. This amp has room to grow for sure. I've heard about the "Yamaha sound", but the way describe it, that sound is forward in the upper midrange and lower treble. Well, this amp must buck that trend - it sound powerful and warmish, though detail is not lost. It's a keeper! Oh, and damn, this thing is heavy! Not McIntosh heavy, but it's not far behind. Keep up the great work! I don't know how you do it all without a script or edits. You are a natural, sir. 🤩
@@drazenbabich and, not surprisingly, is rated *lower* in output power than *both* the new N1000 and N800. WTH, Yamaha? How can this $4k receiver be lower in power than the two cheaper versions? Man, they got have got to spell out exactly what makes this unit special and that tidbit does not help at all. I can attest that it sounds much more powerful than my n803, which is actually rated the same. Sigh.
What a nice unboxing, just one question, why does it have 4 inputs on the right and left side? I know that 2 are connected, but what are the other 2 for? Excuse me, greetings from afar 😉
Do you mean speaker outputs? (i.e 2 sets of binding posts) The amp supports A & B Speakers, so it has a set of 5-way binding posts for " A " and another set of " B ". Does that help?
Yamaha make excellent audio products. I have an older AV receiver and stero receiver. Excellent sound. This new model amplifier will sound even better.
Thanks for the video that enlists my interest towards the N2000A. I wish to know if the amp. Is able to power my Canon ref 5K with a spec: normal/music power handling 280/440W, impedance 4-8 ohms; s.p.l.88.5 db. Thanks.
I think you'd need better amps to get best out of Canton 5k...something like Rotel or Audio Research.. Yamaha RN2000a is good but but not on the level of your speakers.
Really wish it came with a fixed RCA as well as the variable out it has, because without it, this receiver would be useless to me as I need a fixed out for my cassette deck. Otherwise, I’d have to go with the A-S701 or the A-S1200.
Tape Deck (?) Is a tape loop really needed on your primary stereo? For playing and recording? ove the recorder to the study and put a player on your main stereo.
Yep, not including one set of line outs and a USB storage connection was a miss. I set up a NAS for the latter. I can retire my headphone amp now, so I can do without the former.
Probably a r-n1000a and a r-n3000a since this one is similar to the a-s2200... Btw I loved the video but it would be great to have more impressions about the sound compared to what you already have on the channel. Thanks again.

this looks like a stereo receiver well worth waiting for, serious competittion for that of marantz.too bad the radio part does not have the am band.
AM inernationay is DEAD. And any AM station you need will (well should) come in via Internet Radio. You won't need an AM tuner.
