I think your biggest gripe is the point of the game. If characters are good in every situation, people wouldn’t really pull or pay to pull. They’re already starting to make things harder for break teams with the new mobs. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start adding characters that get buffs whenever a debuff is applied to counter Acheron.

Shielding and removing debuffs from allies, an AOE Ult and Follow ups all on ice damage. She helped me a lot with Aventurine because even now I still don't have many 5 stars (I started playing when him and Jingliu were banners in like March or April)
Boothill and FF also don't have that problem thanks to both being able to inplant their types into enemies but march can do that much easier and by using only one skill point in a ally of that type

I like that the base cast keeps being relevant. Call a me sort heart but I like the Astral crew the fact they are still in my roster for most of the content shows how well design they are to adapt to the changes.
It's also more thematically cohesive. It sucks when your MCs would never be used because they suck, so they only appear in cutscenes because they have to.

I've heard that starting from 2.6 it's gonna become 1 new character per patch but take this with a few dozens grains of salt since it's just unconfirmed leaks, more speculation than leaks actually
I like it because hardly I have more than 1-2 character I want for patch. So waiting is less boring. The exception has been Patch 2.2 and 2.3 where I got Boothil E0S1, Robin E1 (E1 was an early lucky pull), Fuxuan E0, RM's LC, Firefly E1 (just to use her as Himeko's support) and Jade E0S1. Yes, a lot of 5* item in 2 patch, but because I saved so many wishes in the previous patches. And a lot of lucky in 50/50; lost only for FF E1. If was like this also in Genshin where the number of characters I like is worse.
Seriously, i don't think hsr was or is intended by hoyo to have extremely high return on investment and thus they don't need to be stingy and can have fun with the plot and characters, but this casual, enjoyable approach has seriously worked for it's entertainment value and profitability. You can tell the writers are having fun with hsr and it's not just a business here.
Yeah I think that's the main reason why Lingsha needs to be really good for break teams. I don't mind her replacing Gallegher since it means you can freely use him in any other comp (even those who're not break focused). We also have Fiaxo coming up and since she can break very easily the like of Gallegher and Harmony TB will push her power even further.

Another point that might seriously help out ALL units in this game would be to slightly bufff all the previous 4* units to help them keep up with the current content. For example, Yukong has some fairly strong buffs but can't really make use of them thanks to the gimmick being that they run out for every action an ally takes. Even extending that buff for one extra action could help significantly, since I'm pretty sure the turn the skill is used also counts unless the ultimate was used prior. For the DPS units like DH, it could really help if he had slightly higher scaling to help keep up with the current content, too (although it's pretty obvious why that isn't really going to happen. A person can hope, though). There was another gacha game that had a system similar to this, where older units could be ascended to help them match the power of the newer units. I genuinely think that HSR could benefit from this, especially for the 4* characters. A slight shift in mechanics for the weaker support units and higher scaling guy the DPS can really help balance the game out. There's even proof that a system like this can work. Pela and Tingyun stayed relevant because their mechanics are so versatile that it's hard to strictly outclass them. So far, no 5* units have been able to do it (although it seems like Jiaoqiu is next up to try to dethrone the debuffs from Pela). Imagine if the other supports had something similar.
Imo people would prefer playing with new units than play with the old ones even if they get upgrades, people always like to play with the shiny new stuff including me ofcourse.
@@ScaryYokaiThat's not true. A lot of people do, but a lot of others have favorite characters they want to keep playing for years. Those people shouldn't be punished for wanting to stick with their favorite, so I think buffing is the optimal solution here.
@@ScaryYokai It's no surprise that people would be incentivized to pull for the newer units. They ARE far more powerful than what's provided earlier on. But just because the incentive is there doesn't mean everyone will buy into it. I'd love to keep running Dan Heng and Yukong (that was a really fun combo I had for a while during the Luofu) but both of them are just subpar compared to practically everything else that came after them. It'd be nice to breathe new life into the older units.
@@ScaryYokai then hoyo should buff the old units. People will still pull the new ones because they're new, so win win. Players get to keep playing their old favs, and new characters still get pulled.
I do agree, Yukong's problems also fall into terms of speed, if your team doesn't have the right speed order with Yukong (like the abundance character being faster than your dps). Not to mention that if the enemy has a slow or any other disabling cc Yukong's value goes way down, not to mention the her e6 can feel clunky since on one hand you want to charge up her skill but the crit bonus you might miss because of it might be too good to pass up). Imo just giving her 3 charges on her skill will help resolve some of her issues. In DH's case his talent needs an overhaul since he has no way to proc it whatsoever, and the slow on his skill can be very easily ignored since during the late game units get very speedy that it hardly matters. I do hope that down the line some older characters will get buffed in a way, even going beyong 4* because imo some 5* units such as Yanqing and Bailu could use some help.
I’m really happy that they’re giving us 4*s that actually have the necessary mechanics to work in the endgame - like this apocalyptic shadow, if you wanted to fight Cocolia but you didn’t have Firefly, you could use Xueyi + HTB and activate the buff just fine; or how when the game started Herta was the only unit you could guarantee to have a follow up, but now Dr. Ratio and March 8th will have them. The diversity of the 4*s gives us much more room to maximize buffs in endgame modes (and also try and have fun with different paths in SU and DU by god Topaz with Elation and Hunt path was the QUEEN of swarm disaster up until 1.6)
Im actually MUCH more interested in her gameplay rn than Jiaoqi and Yunli. Those 2 right now feels kinda bland with gameplay thats been done before, but hunt march has a unique gameplay that only she and she alone has
Slight correction: March 8th is that frozen antimatter legion soldier in Belebog, Hunt March is March 9th :) Honestly I bloody love DPS units who support allies, and through their support become stronger themselves. It's why I love Raiden Shogun's kit design, why I'm a day 1 Topaz enjoyer, and why I'm excited to get my hands on March 9th
There was one time in HI3 where an old A rank (esentially a 4 star) character became the strongest character in the game due to a new system they implemented. Sure, it only lasted for 9 months, but the point is, it happened.

Adding onto this: I love how Himeko one of, IF not, the only 1.0 5* that is receiving gradual buffs and relevancy thanks to new Relics, Planar Ornaments and content. Even the new F2P 5* Erudition Light Cone is decent on her. Same with a Break Effect build. What I want to see is Hoyo expand the game's options on Energy Regeneration and add it as a substat at some point. Also implement Super Break on DOTs just for laughs
While it's easy to think of this as power, or feature creep, I see this trend of "2.0 is noticably stronger than 1.0 characters" is actually a situation of Star Rail's character designs finding their feet. They've realized that with all these different game modes, to make a character have pull power, they need to be Multi-faceted. For example, Firefly is a hyperbreaker, who also forces her element weakness, and moves super quick, three things that can all be built around if you want to. Thusly, Firefly is desirable not just for moe, but for actual gameplay reasons, seeing as no matter the form of content you prefer, Firefly is PROBABLY good in it. Even Pure Fiction she can work pretty hard with that speed of hers picking up for her single-target nature... Wait did I say single target, I meant Blast, because lets face it, when do you see Firefly not use her enhanced skill. If anything, I'd just KILL for 1.0 characters to actually get a "second pass", especially characters like Welt, Yanqing, and yes, even Himeko (she has that one Incedental Burn/Break passive I think, don't have her, and that's it for diversity) I know it'll never happen, but that's a shame because it would make the entirety of the game more consistant.
while this is fair, imo the numbers are just too big to just say its them finding their groove. Like the multipliers are just as bad as the features, so even if role conslidation is also ann issue, the main issue is the numbers.
I noticed the subtle way they make free characters strong in a way that makes player want to pull the limited 5 star that leverage them i.e. Firefly and Ruan Mei rerun probably made Hoyo a crap ton of money and Hunt March is probably do the same with Feixiao and Lingsha
In their base forms their not very good But then they get Upgrades Hunt march Harmony Trailblazer And imbibitor lunae Then, went from trash tier to top tier
Honestly a break patch where we get only one new 5 star, or hell, even just a full rerun patch would do wonders to be honest. I just feel like I can’t catch my breath with this game
As long as they combined it with something else new gameplay wise or a new area to explore. Since the Penacony story ended the game has kind of gotten to a standstill for me. I'm just logging in to use my stamina (and I barely know what for since Firefly was so easy to build). Maybe they were hoping that pumping out new characters was the way to keep the hype but it's not working for me honestly.
Another thing that you didn't mention is that you can get March's hunt form eidolons for free similar to the Trailblazer, add to that the fact she scales well with them means she's an amazing f2p character.
There are some really strong four stars characters in HSR but without being played with a 5 star character they are almost useless... I'm sick of all the new characters, 5 stars or 4 stars needing Ruan Mei...
Especially in the Clara vs Yunli debate, people seem to overlook a big part of HSR characters: Lightcones. Yunlis lightcone is JUST what Clara needed to become a high tier physical DPS unit.

I love seeing people think Billy is bad. Dude has (as of right now) the potential to unleash arguably the strongest direct damage ult in the game. Up to +100% ult damage off two Chain Attacks and Crouching Shot damage buff on just his kit; add in any other support character buffs and if he's in the team and being used correctly he becomes the only ult worth using. This also ignores the fact that the two other free characters Nicole and Anby are some of the best units to add to teams right now.
The problem is that people are a little new to the hack an Slash in zzz but if You play dmc You can do very Crazy things with Billy and the other characters
10:05 even without these free units f2p people can easily keep up. Like every 3 patches people will get 2 new characters on average, if they are lucky it can turn into 3-4. Like in 2.0 i pulled Black Swan and her signatuee, in 2.1 i pulled Acheron with her signature and Aventurine and rerun of Topaz and in 2.3 got lc for my Argenti because i love using him. Also because i got early 5 star in 50 pullsbi got Firefly. And like half of these characters and lcs i don't really need, i pulled them because i liked designs and animations of characters.
missed dr ratio by 1 version, and honestly i didn’t realize how much easier the game would’ve been if i had him (i pulled topaz as my first on banner 5-star)
I hope they will do the same thing as in HI3 where every A rank (4 star) had a place in the meta teams and couldn't be replaced by any S ranks (5 star) as S rankers couldn't do the same things they were doing.
Idk if ive said this vefore, but vars i think you should follow up on your catalyst video with a 'rise of catalysts' video, cause we have alot of strong catalyst characters now. Edit: 9:09 it was 1.5 for pure fiction and 2.3 for apoch, so that leaves a 5 patch gap in between. Maybe we'll get something in 2.8?
For me, personally, great free units keeps me engaged in the game. Even for someone who spends, you aren't spending every patch, and it gives you something to look forward to and build.
Silvermane Lieutenant would be perfect for 4 star preservation unit. Give shield and counter if he got attacked. They already have the design, just have to put in standard banner or something.
I just came back in Honkai Star Rail, and coming back really overwhelmed me. There's so many things you need to complete and Understand in order to progress. Not to mention the Enemies became tougher and hit alot more, my characters couldn't cope especially with my Welt Dps lol.
That’s one reason why I don’t want to go back 😂 I’m going to get so stressed out by millions of things to do, and I know I won’t be able to handle any of all these new game modes
I love the march mostly due to her making slash noises with her enhanced basic, don't know who to use with her with my roster. I have the super break team, so I could use her there if I build her right, but Firefly e2 isnt getting replaced there.
Well now I want a free Imaginary Dan Heng who brings a huge new mechanic to the table (cooler daniel weirdly isn't a Dan Heng, so a shift could still happen)
Fun fact: Before Hunt March, Yukong was the ONLY 4* Imaginary unit. And as of rn, afaik, Yukong is the only Harmony unit that grants Crit RATE in her base kit.
I play March 8th with Seele and I have to say. I never had so much fun with Hunt-Characters against big groups of small enemies. I pretty much always had 10/7 Stacks for my March while Seele was going berserk with her increased Speed from March and Ruan Mei 😂😂
Isn’t Xueyi also a free character? I think Xueyi would be March 8th’s best F2P teammate, especially since she’s the only one that can use all of March 7th’s buffs (the crit dmg, break effect and speed) and also because she’s an FuA so she also contributes to March 8th’s FuA. (It’s just a theory tho)
This should only make sense in a gacha game, there should be a good balance of good 4 stars or free characters. However the lack of 4 stars is going to hinder my willingness to pull for 5 stars since the past 4 banners featured at least 1 4 stars that I already had E6 for. When there comes a banner that features all 3 4 stars that I already have E6 or when I already hit E6 for all 3 during the pulls, I'll skip that banner. Hoyo best be creating more 4 stars more aggressively. Much compliment to Hoyo for reversing the fate of TB with a really purposeful Harminy MC, I was already convinced they were gonna trash TB like they trashed Traveller in Genshin. Genshin's Traveller was made to be the weakest link, yet he somehow gets all the heroic credits... awkwardly.
They need to start doing 1 5star each patch rather than 2..nobody wants to keep up with all this. Rerun Kafka again so i can finally finish getting E2, been bluballed at E1 for almost a year

i feel march should have kept the 6 fazed ice in her hunt form like we could of had her be ice hunt nah replace yangqing's ice with imaginary cause he just mind controls swords i always found it so weird that he is ice BUT NOW ITS EVEN WEIRDER yunli also didn't power creep clara she just added herself to clara's counter based team cause they and aventurine are counter based along with march 7th preservation form
I wouldn't say you can just add Clara to Yunli's team since Yunli's ult taunts all enemies so outside of enemy AoE attacks Clara will almost never get hit to proc her out of ult attacks. You can however as a sort of funny team put Yunli on a Yanqing team putting her on the opposite side as long as she can keep her ult up no one will attack Yangqing unless it hits everyone because of the taunt lol.
I think the 4*s being so OP kinda forgives the fact that they barely release 4*s in general. Just means that when they do, they can be as good or even close to as good as a 5*
Oh yeah they would have to The power creep in this game is so bad that to give players a chance to even complete the content they would need free strong characters or else they would feel like they're falling behind and can't catch up
I lucked out quite a bit pulling for Yunli...lost my 50/50 for Bailu, then kept pulling...got Yunli my next 10 pulls. Feels like I used up all my luck for the month.
I think the problem with Preservation or Abundance is how limited their skills is, Preservation = Defend/Shield, Abundance = Heal. If they want to make a 4* they will have to not powercrept too much ahem Gallagher ahem.. that why they made Lingsha, i saw the leak and i understood her kits.
March is a 4 star because she didn’t get stabbed on her chest area so when she becomes a 5 star she will be really good and will have a stab wound there
Me personally, I'm more concerned with how those 4-star versions will impact other existing characters, especially someone like Sampo, who is way too much of a complex character to leave him as a current subpar DoT unit of 1.0, but who will most likely still have plot relevance in the future. Though, Herta is also a concerning topic now that I think about it. If we won't get a 5* Herta in the future, I riot
March will have a similar problem with Trailblazer once they get some more forms that are actually good, and that is, there's only one of them. You might want Hunt March on team 1 and Nihility March on team 2, but, there's only one March and she can't be shared.
admittedly i messed around with March 8th in the beta and for a while because of the team comp i went with i thought her biggest issue was generating her points but this was because my smooth gorilla brain havin ass went with a real stupid dual carry comp (i wont out what the team comp is) but i genuinely didnt think about using her in a FUA specific team or a super break team so i hey now i know better

March should of been a free 5 star version like harmony MC :( . Being a 4 star and a kit that splits between break/CR/CD, she's always going to be innately be worse than a 5 star support or Dmg,(aside from starting 5 stars). I hope she's more useable than what it she seems because i love her, I kept trying to get normal March to work but she's just too weak.
Honestly, for me, Star Rail's powerspike is too big to feel comfortable playing, even if we are getting powerful free units lol. It's still about building them and getting 5* units to stay relevant
Nahh, the powercreep comes from mostly supports. If you have a decent 5star dps then you are good(not a mid dps tho, like blade,swanless kafka,clara,yanking,)
HMC and New March were made to cover two BIG problems in the game. HMC: Without them Break Teams would be useless and no one would pull for Break DPSs, so having someone capable of triggering Super-Break that all players have access to is them avoiding a Kafka Situation where an entire game mechanic is locked behind a Limited 5 Star. New March: The game has ZERO non-limited options for Imaginary DPS (Dr Ratio no longer counts) so they had to cover this part soon with the increase in difficulty and the growing need to have at least one option per element

They did that in Zenless zone zero where Ben work really well with Koleda which activity an unique move Koleda couldn't otherwise
He'll be mid for feixiao. One follow up attack every two turns is not ideal

1 thing though, while yes it works best together with Ruan Mei, do not underestimate the Break team without Ruan Mei either. It is still very good.
With lingsha on the horizon, having a break team for both moc sides is not a pipe dream anymore

Another point that might seriously help out ALL units in this game would be to slightly bufff all the previous 4* units to help them keep up with the current content.
For example, Yukong has some fairly strong buffs but can't really make use of them thanks to the gimmick being that they run out for every action an ally takes.
Even extending that buff for one extra action could help significantly, since I'm pretty sure the turn the skill is used also counts unless the ultimate was used prior.
For the DPS units like DH, it could really help if he had slightly higher scaling to help keep up with the current content, too (although it's pretty obvious why that isn't really going to happen. A person can hope, though).
There was another gacha game that had a system similar to this, where older units could be ascended to help them match the power of the newer units. I genuinely think that HSR could benefit from this, especially for the 4* characters. A slight shift in mechanics for the weaker support units and higher scaling guy the DPS can really help balance the game out.
There's even proof that a system like this can work. Pela and Tingyun stayed relevant because their mechanics are so versatile that it's hard to strictly outclass them. So far, no 5* units have been able to do it (although it seems like Jiaoqiu is next up to try to dethrone the debuffs from Pela). Imagine if the other supports had something similar.
Imo people would prefer playing with new units than play with the old ones even if they get upgrades, people always like to play with the shiny new stuff including me ofcourse.
@@ScaryYokaiThat's not true. A lot of people do, but a lot of others have favorite characters they want to keep playing for years. Those people shouldn't be punished for wanting to stick with their favorite, so I think buffing is the optimal solution here.
@@ScaryYokai It's no surprise that people would be incentivized to pull for the newer units. They ARE far more powerful than what's provided earlier on.
But just because the incentive is there doesn't mean everyone will buy into it. I'd love to keep running Dan Heng and Yukong (that was a really fun combo I had for a while during the Luofu) but both of them are just subpar compared to practically everything else that came after them. It'd be nice to breathe new life into the older units.

I do agree, Yukong's problems also fall into terms of speed, if your team doesn't have the right speed order with Yukong (like the abundance character being faster than your dps). Not to mention that if the enemy has a slow or any other disabling cc Yukong's value goes way down, not to mention the her e6 can feel clunky since on one hand you want to charge up her skill but the crit bonus you might miss because of it might be too good to pass up). Imo just giving her 3 charges on her skill will help resolve some of her issues.
In DH's case his talent needs an overhaul since he has no way to proc it whatsoever, and the slow on his skill can be very easily ignored since during the late game units get very speedy that it hardly matters.
I do hope that down the line some older characters will get buffed in a way, even going beyong 4* because imo some 5* units such as Yanqing and Bailu could use some help.
I’m really happy that they’re giving us 4*s that actually have the necessary mechanics to work in the endgame - like this apocalyptic shadow, if you wanted to fight Cocolia but you didn’t have Firefly, you could use Xueyi + HTB and activate the buff just fine; or how when the game started Herta was the only unit you could guarantee to have a follow up, but now Dr. Ratio and March 8th will have them. The diversity of the 4*s gives us much more room to maximize buffs in endgame modes (and also try and have fun with different paths in SU and DU by god Topaz with Elation and Hunt path was the QUEEN of swarm disaster up until 1.6)
Im actually MUCH more interested in her gameplay rn than Jiaoqi and Yunli. Those 2 right now feels kinda bland with gameplay thats been done before, but hunt march has a unique gameplay that only she and she alone has

Honestly I bloody love DPS units who support allies, and through their support become stronger themselves. It's why I love Raiden Shogun's kit design, why I'm a day 1 Topaz enjoyer, and why I'm excited to get my hands on March 9th

There was one time in HI3 where an old A rank (esentially a 4 star) character became the strongest character in the game due to a new system they implemented. Sure, it only lasted for 9 months, but the point is, it happened.

Adding onto this: I love how Himeko one of, IF not, the only 1.0 5* that is receiving gradual buffs and relevancy thanks to new Relics, Planar Ornaments and content. Even the new F2P 5* Erudition Light Cone is decent on her. Same with a Break Effect build.
What I want to see is Hoyo expand the game's options on Energy Regeneration and add it as a substat at some point. Also implement Super Break on DOTs just for laughs

While it's easy to think of this as power, or feature creep, I see this trend of "2.0 is noticably stronger than 1.0 characters" is actually a situation of Star Rail's character designs finding their feet. They've realized that with all these different game modes, to make a character have pull power, they need to be Multi-faceted. For example, Firefly is a hyperbreaker, who also forces her element weakness, and moves super quick, three things that can all be built around if you want to. Thusly, Firefly is desirable not just for moe, but for actual gameplay reasons, seeing as no matter the form of content you prefer, Firefly is PROBABLY good in it. Even Pure Fiction she can work pretty hard with that speed of hers picking up for her single-target nature... Wait did I say single target, I meant Blast, because lets face it, when do you see Firefly not use her enhanced skill.
If anything, I'd just KILL for 1.0 characters to actually get a "second pass", especially characters like Welt, Yanqing, and yes, even Himeko (she has that one Incedental Burn/Break passive I think, don't have her, and that's it for diversity) I know it'll never happen, but that's a shame because it would make the entirety of the game more consistant.
while this is fair, imo the numbers are just too big to just say its them finding their groove. Like the multipliers are just as bad as the features, so even if role conslidation is also ann issue, the main issue is the numbers.
I noticed the subtle way they make free characters strong in a way that makes player want to pull the limited 5 star that leverage them i.e. Firefly and Ruan Mei rerun probably made Hoyo a crap ton of money and Hunt March is probably do the same with Feixiao and Lingsha

As long as they combined it with something else new gameplay wise or a new area to explore. Since the Penacony story ended the game has kind of gotten to a standstill for me. I'm just logging in to use my stamina (and I barely know what for since Firefly was so easy to build). Maybe they were hoping that pumping out new characters was the way to keep the hype but it's not working for me honestly.
i would argue star rail does have a power 5 now, with harmony tb, imaginary march, gallagher, pela, and tingyun
I wasn't around when Dr.Ratio was given out but new March will fr help Firefly. Ig I'll use Gal , Hmc , Firefly and March 7.
Trust me, you can even use March as a Ratio replacement! She’s really just that versatile. But yeah, break teams are also amazing with her. Good luck!
Another thing that you didn't mention is that you can get March's hunt form eidolons for free similar to the Trailblazer, add to that the fact she scales well with them means she's an amazing f2p character.

There are some really strong four stars characters in HSR but without being played with a 5 star character they are almost useless... I'm sick of all the new characters, 5 stars or 4 stars needing Ruan Mei...
Especially in the Clara vs Yunli debate, people seem to overlook a big part of HSR characters: Lightcones.
Yunlis lightcone is JUST what Clara needed to become a high tier physical DPS unit.

I love seeing people think Billy is bad. Dude has (as of right now) the potential to unleash arguably the strongest direct damage ult in the game.
Up to +100% ult damage off two Chain Attacks and Crouching Shot damage buff on just his kit; add in any other support character buffs and if he's in the team and being used correctly he becomes the only ult worth using.
This also ignores the fact that the two other free characters Nicole and Anby are some of the best units to add to teams right now.
The problem is that people are a little new to the hack an Slash in zzz but if You play dmc You can do very Crazy things with Billy and the other characters

10:05 even without these free units f2p people can easily keep up. Like every 3 patches people will get 2 new characters on average, if they are lucky it can turn into 3-4. Like in 2.0 i pulled Black Swan and her signatuee, in 2.1 i pulled Acheron with her signature and Aventurine and rerun of Topaz and in 2.3 got lc for my Argenti because i love using him. Also because i got early 5 star in 50 pullsbi got Firefly. And like half of these characters and lcs i don't really need, i pulled them because i liked designs and animations of characters.
I cant wait for more of these characters

For me, personally, great free units keeps me engaged in the game. Even for someone who spends, you aren't spending every patch, and it gives you something to look forward to and build.
Silvermane Lieutenant would be perfect for 4 star preservation unit. Give shield and counter if he got attacked. They already have the design, just have to put in standard banner or something.

I just came back in Honkai Star Rail, and coming back really overwhelmed me. There's so many things you need to complete and Understand in order to progress. Not to mention the Enemies became tougher and hit alot more, my characters couldn't cope especially with my Welt Dps lol.
take it slow, do not stress about clearing everything, you get max 2400 jades from endgame content, that's not even 20% of a patch's jades

I love the march mostly due to her making slash noises with her enhanced basic, don't know who to use with her with my roster. I have the super break team, so I could use her there if I build her right, but Firefly e2 isnt getting replaced there.
Well now I want a free Imaginary Dan Heng who brings a huge new mechanic to the table (cooler daniel weirdly isn't a Dan Heng, so a shift could still happen)

Fun fact: Before Hunt March, Yukong was the ONLY 4* Imaginary unit. And as of rn, afaik, Yukong is the only Harmony unit that grants Crit RATE in her base kit.
I play March 8th with Seele and I have to say. I never had so much fun with Hunt-Characters against big groups of small enemies. I pretty much always had 10/7 Stacks for my March while Seele was going berserk with her increased Speed from March and Ruan Mei 😂😂
Isn’t Xueyi also a free character? I think Xueyi would be March 8th’s best F2P teammate, especially since she’s the only one that can use all of March 7th’s buffs (the crit dmg, break effect and speed) and also because she’s an FuA so she also contributes to March 8th’s FuA. (It’s just a theory tho)
This should only make sense in a gacha game, there should be a good balance of good 4 stars or free characters. However the lack of 4 stars is going to hinder my willingness to pull for 5 stars since the past 4 banners featured at least 1 4 stars that I already had E6 for. When there comes a banner that features all 3 4 stars that I already have E6 or when I already hit E6 for all 3 during the pulls, I'll skip that banner. Hoyo best be creating more 4 stars more aggressively.
Much compliment to Hoyo for reversing the fate of TB with a really purposeful Harminy MC, I was already convinced they were gonna trash TB like they trashed Traveller in Genshin. Genshin's Traveller was made to be the weakest link, yet he somehow gets all the heroic credits... awkwardly.
International Women's Day looks like a really fun character to play. I like her design.

yunli also didn't power creep clara she just added herself to clara's counter based team cause they and aventurine are counter based along with march 7th preservation form
I wouldn't say you can just add Clara to Yunli's team since Yunli's ult taunts all enemies so outside of enemy AoE attacks Clara will almost never get hit to proc her out of ult attacks. You can however as a sort of funny team put Yunli on a Yanqing team putting her on the opposite side as long as she can keep her ult up no one will attack Yangqing unless it hits everyone because of the taunt lol.

I lucked out quite a bit pulling for Yunli...lost my 50/50 for Bailu, then kept pulling...got Yunli my next 10 pulls. Feels like I used up all my luck for the month.

I think the problem with Preservation or Abundance is how limited their skills is, Preservation = Defend/Shield, Abundance = Heal. If they want to make a 4* they will have to not powercrept too much ahem Gallagher ahem.. that why they made Lingsha, i saw the leak and i understood her kits.

Me personally, I'm more concerned with how those 4-star versions will impact other existing characters, especially someone like Sampo, who is way too much of a complex character to leave him as a current subpar DoT unit of 1.0, but who will most likely still have plot relevance in the future. Though, Herta is also a concerning topic now that I think about it. If we won't get a 5* Herta in the future, I riot

March will have a similar problem with Trailblazer once they get some more forms that are actually good, and that is, there's only one of them. You might want Hunt March on team 1 and Nihility March on team 2, but, there's only one March and she can't be shared.

I don't mind a free characters to be pretty strong, as long as they're a support for a once non-existing playstyle.
admittedly i messed around with March 8th in the beta and for a while because of the team comp i went with i thought her biggest issue was generating her points but this was because my smooth gorilla brain havin ass went with a real stupid dual carry comp (i wont out what the team comp is) but i genuinely didnt think about using her in a FUA specific team or a super break team so i hey now i know better

Depends on your investments. If you can make welt S tier, then you can make A tier units to SS tier.
March should of been a free 5 star version like harmony MC :( . Being a 4 star and a kit that splits between break/CR/CD, she's always going to be innately be worse than a 5 star support or Dmg,(aside from starting 5 stars). I hope she's more useable than what it she seems because i love her, I kept trying to get normal March to work but she's just too weak.

Honestly, for me, Star Rail's powerspike is too big to feel comfortable playing, even if we are getting powerful free units lol. It's still about building them and getting 5* units to stay relevant

Nahh, the powercreep comes from mostly supports. If you have a decent 5star dps then you are good(not a mid dps tho, like blade,swanless kafka,clara,yanking,)

HMC and New March were made to cover two BIG problems in the game.
HMC: Without them Break Teams would be useless and no one would pull for Break DPSs, so having someone capable of triggering Super-Break that all players have access to is them avoiding a Kafka Situation where an entire game mechanic is locked behind a Limited 5 Star.
New March: The game has ZERO non-limited options for Imaginary DPS (Dr Ratio no longer counts) so they had to cover this part soon with the increase in difficulty and the growing need to have at least one option per element
