Great video Gabe. My favorite tips are the Tabata, cymbals stacks and fill starters, and I think the closed hi-hats on the fills, is a must :) Also, recording yourself helps a great deal. Thanks a lot!
Sick video, Gabe! All the work you put into these doesn’t go unnoticed, man.
Dude thanks for the free workshop!
Your tips was really helpful and have lots of lesson that I'd learned this day.
Thanks a lot!🔥🙌
You are very welcome!!
Best and most underrated drum teacher on UA-cam. Always a thrill to watch your stuff mate. Would love to see you do a drum clinic in the UK when that is possible.
Why would a channel like this ever a dislike
Awesome, easy tips to apply. Thanks Gabe! That's how I tune, and stacks sound so good!
Thanks Gabe! These videos are always so educational. cheers dude!
This is awesome. Been getting kinda bored behind the set but now I have a crap load of new stuff to try out and experiment with. Like I said, awesome.
This was a really well perfected video learnt a lot !
Thank you gabe,as always i learned from you. Your the best mentor.
Thank for the video! I’ve been playing for about 7 months now and I’ve gotten to that point where I don’t feel like I’m progressing very much. Hopefully this will help!
Your advice on fills instantly improved how my fills sound thank you
Thanks Gabe, for so many good tips!
Your content is very educational man, when ever I'm in a rut I come to your channel and drumeo. Thank you!
Rather encouraging video! Thank you!
Man you’re the best one ❤️❤️❤️ Can’t wait for more videos 😊
In almost exactly one year, I went from never having touched a drum-set to being the go-to drummer for my young adults church group that might just be working on an album soon. I can't thank you enough, Gabe--wish there was a way to repay you...
Thank you. Really. This video deserves millions of views. It taught me a lot. Thank you so much.
Great video as always
Keep up the excellent work Gabe!
learned so much! thank you
You are the best man thanks for improving our drumming you are the best man
Great video. Really helped a lot🙏
Yeah, it's been 2 year and I don't see any signs of improvement. But I will not get tired of learning. If I will become a PRO DRUMMER someday I will be back in this comment section. .
You've been playing for 2 years and haven't improved? I don't get it. That's impossible
This helped me a lot, thanks Gabe ! 🤟🏻
Greeeaaat video!! Very well done!
Thanks: Nice tips.
Thank u, this helped
You totally inspire me gabe!!🤩
Some good tips here. Really like the clap cross stick idea of scraping across the hoop a little. I think my issue is getting enough playing time in. I’m also trying to save to afford some decent cymbals. It’s easier said than done though.
Man!
Thank you so much.
You're the best❤️🔥❤️🔥
You are very welcome!
You are the drummer that inspires me the most :)
Tab at a.....Tge HIIT for drummers! Cool! And thank you for that explanation of Push and Pull. I’ve seen a lot of demonstration and understood the movement of the fingers, but I think the phrase push n pull, which I hadn’t heard yet, has made it “click” in my brain (now to start!)
great! thanks a lot!
This was helpful
I love Ghost notes. I learned how to do those from rod morgenstein in a video he had called putting it all together.
Best way to improve your drumming... JOIN THE DBO ACADEMY :D
You are crushing it in there my friend! So happy to see all of your progress!
@@DrumBeatsOnline Many thanks to you!
Absolutely! My drumming has improved a ton since I joined!!
How much is it? I have joined the waitlist but the price isn’t written anywhere so I feel like it’s gonna be extortionate. I love all these videos and the few free mini courses I have signed up for have been great.
Honestly I can't remember the exact price, but it was under 300 for a year.
It was a very good and helpful advice!
Wym? It's always great when gabe uploads! And the more information shared, the better! Idk about you but I'm trying to be the best, learning as much as possible from the best 🤘
I started playing the Drums a ⅔ year ago, it makes so much fun because of your nice and helpful Videos!!
How’s your drumming going now?
Lol glad you asked... I'm in a band and our first song is on Spotify, Deezer, etc right now. We recorded a whole album and are on the way of releasing it soon... So I'd say it's going pretty great :)
(Definitely not advertisment, but our bands called sixteen Square Meters if I want to check it out for yourself)
@@maltes666 glad to hear it man. I’m almost at playing for a year so I’m roughly where you were 2 years ago!
Personally I like the Evans EC2 heads for my batter heads on the toms. They've been the best sounding heads for my personal taste. I do use the p77 on the snare also.
Could it be possible for a future video to be how to learn and/or relearn reading sheet music? This video was super helpful. Thank you sir!
Best tips alwas🤘💯
Great advice. However... forgive me if I'm wrong, but "feathering" the bass drum is a jazz drumming term that means playing the bass drum lightly on all the 1/4 notes in jazz music (and also other forms of swung, traditional American music). It's purpose is to help reinforce the bottom end of a jazz groove with a "walking" bass line; adapted when big bands were not amplified and the mix was dense. But perhaps this definition has changed and I'm unaware. @Gabe, I really enjoy your videos and hope to one day be making my own drum tutorials and I feel yours are amongst the paragons of internet drum learning. Keep up the good work!
I was waiting for this 😊😊😊
❤️
How beautiful is this Pearl ! 😍
Right after there is mine 😀
Broo I was just thinking that u will post a video.. btw please make a video to handle the second hihat and how to make it so quiet like matt McGuire does.. please I want that because I don't know that

That's awesome!
Such an inspiration damn.. I’m a metal guitarist looking to pickup drums. I primarily want to play double bass, how long should I practice with single pedal? Can I start with double bass immediately? Great videos hope you get the chance to reply
54 yrs old.......kids raised......gave it my all.........my turn......Let's Rock!!
Merci
That ghost notes groove improvement very similar to l’enfant sauvage from gojira 🤙🏽
Sir you are the one who has made my boring drumming to amazing and joyful drumming!! I will be glad if once you watch your Student video once !!!
That's amazing! I'm so happy to help!
I like your vids... ❤️
As far as I know, the first technique in improving speed is called „open-close-Tecnique“.
Push pull is when you push the Stick downwards with your Thumb and then snap back with fingers and Thumb, so that you don’t have a point of rotation between Thumb and index finger.
I wish there were 10 videos a day on this channel. Honestly you are the only person who can educate and entertain THAT well. Keep up the good work ❤️
Yes, this channel deserve a lot of subscriber
AMAZING
🤘🏽
I'm a student and i picked drums as my instrument i am quite good but this help me a bit!
Hi I learn many things from your video and I love drumming
Keep up the great work!
4:45 Hey dats me!!!
Crushing it Mike!!
Hi, my is Ham
I have really learn ❤ alot.
I have a request, please can you do a lesson of how to count on drum groove before playing a fill? 😢
Well I played violin from 8 yrs old till outta highschool.. 1985 was graduation (So Yes I'm your Elder).. Lol.. For around the last 25 yrs I've messed around on the drums @ Band Practice's Parties, Jammin, Etc.. My ex-husband who has already passed on, played around the Lansing, Mi area for over 40 yrs. His band's name was called Group Therapy.. So I also learned a lot from him as far as music, notes, scales, etc.. So I guess my point is - I've been playing drums every day since the Covid-19 Quarintee.. I started on an electric drum kit that I paid $45 for.. I'm now on my 1st full Acoustic Set... So for 6 mths I've been playing every day from 2 - 6 hrs a day.. No lesson's.. I can play Humble Pie to King Diamond... So hard work does pay off, so NEVER stop trying or playing... 🤘🥁💜🌹Thax Very Much Gabe. for ALL UR Time & Help... 🇱🇷🎉
Please come to Ghana
J'adore vos explications mais ce serait encore plus top en français !!!!👍😉
This vid is so helpful, and then what's your hair style name bro...pls tell me....💚💚❣️
Pro tip: For cross stick, a drum stick with a flat "butt" or "handle" will give you a higher tone without the need of turning the stick around for that nice definition. If the end in rounded, you'll get a lower/warm/less defined sound.
I hope I'm not too late. But what is diff btwn the Ghost notes and the buzz stroke
Which band do you play for I seen you I'm not sure where. Is it any given day? Or Trivium? I'm a shelter and I'm watching your stuff and it's helping me out I didn't know about rudiments when I started when I was 14 I'm 55 now and still I'm not in command of rudiments. I have a friend who was in drum corps who is beating the crap out of me for not spending 20 minutes a day doing them but he does say that I am time so I feel pretty good about that pretty good about that. I thank you for your channel!
I'm a self taught drummer who hasn't played with any seriousness or conviction in years. Just diving back into it a couple decades later, I was faced with the painful fact that I have such a long way to go. Any tips or suggestions for a self taught drummer who has since peaked and plateaued? Just got the gig drumming for a band that is way too talented for my ass. 🤣 I've been able to fool them into thinking I'm semi competent up to this point, but... Any practice routines or crucial rudiments that'll prove quick and effective for my personal situation and experience level?
Back at it again with the 4pc 👀
Totally agree with really slow practice, it's the least fun, but it's the most useful.
Small correction about bass drum feathering - it's not not burying the beater, it's playing soft notes in between your main kicks. It's kind of a lost art unless you're playing old school jazz.
who else noticed peter at 00:11
I have such a hard time maintaining a bpm patern, I always either slow down or go faster. Been years trying , can't get it right
Im trying decide between the meinl pure alloy hi hats and the meinl 15 inch dual hats. Gabe I need your input. Also I play mostly alt rock
For rock I'd maybe consider the 15" Byzance traditional hats!
Gabe’s haircut looking fresh
How you can get all of them cymbals
Do you do advanced lessons at all? I've subscribed to the DBO website for just that. Let me know Gabe
I definitely do!
what i do to increase foot speed on drums is to close your hihats to were there is a little bit of space between the hihats .and play the bass drum like you have a double bass
i hope this helps you guys
Hey gabe/dboteacher/bestdrumteacherever/thatoneguyfromyoutube/drummerofiprevail/manyothernamesthatpeoplecallyou!😂
😂 Hey!
I love it when you say hello my beautiful friends
Noice!!!
What are rudiments, also great video I've watched this twice but I didn't catch the rudiments
oh my god i saw myself in the stream clip!
I'm a one-handed drummer how should I play it
Double sided stick 👈
@@wetsocksyum1791 I have one leg to playing should I still do it?
Hey gabe i see you went back to the iron cobras
Why?
Grtz from dbo member from belgium
I suppose it's old footage
Was that Mikes cowbell?
Good video, but would just like to clarify that tip two isn't feathering the beater. That's just called playing off the head. Feathering is more of a jazz thing, where you play the bass drum incredibly lightly so has not to play over everything else.
Already one of the best days in the pandemic
Stay strong my friend!
I got tomorrow's practice vides lol 😂
Heck yes!
Idk why but drumming is very fun.
All great tips but one correction....”Feathering” your bass drum doesn’t mean to let the beater come off the head. It actually means lightly playing quarter notes on the kick to sync up with the bass player who’s playing a walking bass line. It’s most common technique for jazz drummers.
