Great album got it for free…young kid I was…joined Columbia record club …13 albums for a quarter or something like that…I join I get one album …this album…never heard from them again…thank you Columbia…and David Bromberg and friends
Yup. I fell for that Columbia scam about 20 times. After I got all the stuff I really wanted I started ordering albums I've only heard other artist talk about like Kind of Blue, Pet Sounds, Leadbelly and OG Hank collections. Really widened my musical tastes.
So funny how wide that Columbia record club offer was. I joined and it must have worked for me. I received a lot of records, which are now at my brother's house or in storage here at mine. Glad the music can be found on UA-cam...
Went to see the gypsy Stayin' in a big hotel He smiled when he saw me coming And he said, "Well, well, well" His room was dark and crowded Lights were low and dim "How are you?" he said to me I said it back to him I went down to the lobby To make a small call out A pretty dancing girl was there And she began to shout "Go on back to see the gypsy He can move you from the rear Drive you from your fear Bring you through the mirror He did it in Las Vegas And he can do it here" Outside the lights were shining On the river of tears I watched them from the distance With music in my ears I went back to see the gypsy It was nearly early dawn The gypsy's door was open wide But the gypsy was gone And that pretty dancing girl She could not be found So I watched that sun come rising From that little Minnesota town

Oh man. He wouldn’t speak for a week after EP’s death he was so grieved. Always gave credit to Elvis for “breaking me out of jail” after the first time Dylan heard him. Dylan loved Presley. In fact he wanted to be Presley. Someone once said to him but you’re the greatest songwriter and Dylan replied that Elvis had the voice and was the best interpreter/singer of a song.
This song is SO RELEVANT today - when there is more FALSE HOPE AND BS than EVER - and more outlets to stream it. Trump is the current version of the gypsy- have you noticed how he has always surrounded himself with "pretty dancing girls" and how he cynically bragged about "easy access" to them. Notice the lines "drive you from your FEAR" He did it on reality tv and he can do it here...the comparisons are scary.
Hi disappear trick who wonderful said Alison You want to look. I don't dance. Like her. I have my own beating heart. You disappear because either you don't now or like me dymetion self control and walk away

What a friggin genius. I often wonder why I can't write poetry like that but....
So I watched that sun come rising,
From a little minnesota town.
Beautiful poetry.
This song is like watermelon to me -- I can never get enough!

Got my first Dylan album in the same manner. Kudos
no wonder cheapskate
I think a whole lot of music lovers fell for that Columbia records hoax!! Oh well, another life lesson learned.

It's about Elvis, right?
@@robbiemontgomery581 idk some people say it is, others say it's not. it makes sense if it is about him though.
@@robbiemontgomery581 yes.
yes it is

I must have listened to this song a thousand times before I knew it was about Dylan meeting Elvis.
It was even better once I did.
I just learned that from you and it's pretty cool
It’s about the King and it brings tears to my eyes.
Bob had never met Elvis. When Bob was taken seriously ill back in the 90s, when he was recovering he said: I thought I was going to meet Elvis.
I thought it was based on what George Harrison told him about the Beatles meeting Elvis
@delamo8468 Re-listen. He's not telling someone else's story because he use *I*.
One of my fave songs.
Outside the lights were shining.. on a river of tears! 🕺
I watched him from a distance with a music in my ears !
The King and Bob 😎
God bless bob
Brilliant

Masterpiece ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️🕉️
Used to listen to this album in NHP HS library during study hall !! Treasure the memories 👍🏻 Bobby D
Went to see the gypsy
Stayin' in a big hotel
He smiled when he saw me coming
And he said, "Well, well, well"
His room was dark and crowded
Lights were low and dim
"How are you?" he said to me
I said it back to him
I went down to the lobby
To make a small call out
A pretty dancing girl was there
And she began to shout
"Go on back to see the gypsy
He can move you from the rear
Drive you from your fear
Bring you through the mirror
He did it in Las Vegas
And he can do it here"
Outside the lights were shining
On the river of tears
I watched them from the distance
With music in my ears
I went back to see the gypsy
It was nearly early dawn
The gypsy's door was open wide
But the gypsy was gone
And that pretty dancing girl
She could not be found
So I watched that sun come rising
From that little Minnesota town
Hum great record. I personally think as a fan you through your music has shown me so many face of dyan music is express in his song

Como un rumor anímico de salud, de empuje solitario.
To make a small call out
A Guru, a Beatnick & a Gypsy Walk into a Bar...
More drop in a rain bow drop that shine hum
I went back to see the gypsy
“….bring you through the the BEIR…”
Well ... this song certainly let us know what Dylan thought of Elvis
👌👌😉
Amazing thanks. Travelling sell men. Well
Could that be Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan is singing about ?!
It’s about meeting Elvis
Not really. It's a total fictional song.
He was the same as the man I met. He asked me if it's was Wright or wrong what they did. We both had brink in hand. I looked at them and said it's a question of the sir vial of the fittest. He looks at my and smile

A kiss in not a end. So I want ok
about Elvis?
Eine rührende Verbeugung vor Elvis.
Follow the story in the lyrics-- The Gypsy was...Elvis!
I in favour of new day and new ways
Life is just like the Gypsy Woman said it would be (sort of)....
George Harrison is probably on electric guitar
I think was Robbie Robertson.. sounds like it
@@ninjavigilante5311 yes. it does..
Definitely George Harrison.

Dylan's tribute to Elvis.
A Gypsy Married a GuRu & they had 6 Lovely Beatnicks..
