Dude I'm so psyched. I've been following and waiting for this, perfect for my short car film in blender. Ive been hand animating all the cars so far, hopefully thisll make some shots easier. 👍
I swear just this morning, a few hours ago, I decided to try the tutorial again - it had been a few weeks. I messed up the steering last time. Anyway, I pulled up the tutorial this morning and saw you had just posted the add-on. I said YES. and it works as advertised. I haven't gotten around to tweaking the settings much but with defaults it works well. ive got drastically different sized wheels front/ back and that seems fine so far. PRO TIP - make sure your tires are actually round - ha. Works great though. good job!!!
Haha great tip, also make sure the tires are aligned with one another, probably should have mentioned that in the tutorial. Thanks for checking it out!
I've been waiting for this one! Bought it the moment I saw it. The only thing that I'd like to see is the ability to create keyframes without recording them so I could just place keyframes with "drive" and "steering" parameters whenever I need them. Auto Keying doesn't seem to pick up changes I do. Otherwise, it's an awesome addon and I'm looking forward to future updates.
Thank you! You can add key frames manually by right clicking on the parameter and an insert keyframe should pop up. The keyframe will be added to the Rig Control object so have that selected to see your keyframes in the timeline.
@@akastudioss Oh yeah, didn't know that. It works. Thank you! Do you happen to know how can I bake the result animation to keyframes so I could export it as FBX? Using "Rigid Body > Bake to Keyframes" doesn't seem to work.
I wonder why they didn't just use "acceleration" and "speed" adjust instead of "torque" adjust because technically, torque is more dependent on energy transfer to the transmission and gears pulling power, not speed exclusively. I'm guessing that's why the add-on has more of the RC car physics than a real vehicle because electric motors are more instant RPMs/power than gradual like a gas engine. Great video dude. Thanks.
good question, the motor constraints are simplistic with only two factors really, Target Velocity and Max Impulse. The Target Velocity is the targeted velocity you want the object spinning (which closer represents speed or acceleration) and the Max Impulse is the value set to reach that targeted velocity. Since the torque setting is mainly the Max Impule setting it seemed appropriate. But guess its more of the torque of the wheel and the engine torque.
Thank you very much for this amazing job I did the tutorial and I think it's great I got to the end :-) But I preferred to buy the addon because I don't see myself doing this every time :-) I hope you will have much success with your work. thanks again
That's a big goal of mine! I've been experimenting with deformation with dynamic paint but blender doesn't like it when you mix it with rigid bodies. Tends to crash a lot, but with geometry nodes getting crazy I think theres potential for some awesome destruction!
Thanks! The current version out doesn't support multiple vehicles, you would have to duplicate the rig and add constraints to the second car model manually, but I am working on a update to the rigging system that will allow for multiple cars.
i made a road clicked passive collision.. but half way down the road the car just falls through the mesh... do i have to use the mesh the rig generated ?
@@akastudioss You're my hero. . . :O I've already bought the rig for $25 and subscribed to your UA-cam! Looking forward to your updates. You could really grow this package with updates into a large, well known product. Thanks again, and have a great day.
bro please how do I make the car follow a curve I added a guide object and bezier curve all the objects are intersecting but the car isn't following the curve what am I doing wrong please I searched everywhere for this is it even possible I want the car to follow the curve perfectly without having to steer or keyframe it very two seconds, am going to spam this comments on all the videos until I get a solution sorry
I tried free version but i can't seem to drive the car i tried everything but nothing's working rig adds perfectly but driving things doesn't work vehicle just roll backward and backward even increase of friction doesn't work
I'm just wondering why it's needed so scale the car to a random scale that doesn't match the actual size of the car ? How to use this addon if we need to use the original scale of the car ? Thanks for the addon !
The size of an object affects the Rigid Body physics and constraints. You don't have to change the size of your vehicle but if its much small than the default rig size, some of the constraints with spring settings will need to be set at much higher values. The default rig size is set just to have the best default values. kind of annoying, I know but I haven't found a way to change this yet.
@@akastudioss Ok, I get used to deal with it ! I knew it has something to do with the physics engine. Do you plan to release a version with a correct scale soon ?
@@akastudioss It could be great to also chose the starting point, sometimes you rig the car in the middle of the scene, but you will use the rig somewhere else. Also is it possible to rig multiple cars at the same time ?

HOLY SHIT BRO THIS ADDON IS ACTUALLY FUCKING HUGE YOU ARE AN ACTUAL GOD SEND!!!
I love it! Very easy setup and the discord chat responds very fast! 100% recommend!!!🙏🙏
Love it! Works like a charm😄
A nice extra functionality would be 'Follow Spline' option within plugin;)
Thanks! A follow spline control is defiantly in the works!
@@akastudioss good stuff!! 👍🏻
This is shocking. A real genius move bro. Combining this with unreal is going to be good. 😎

Yea, this is brilliant. I can't wait to try it.
Hope you enjoy it!
this is amazing, add car deformation also ?
I was gonna ask if this could be combo'd with your method for cloth based destruction!
@@Partcom I mean, manually 100% yes. Automatizing my method in the addon, I have no idea, lets wait the author’s answer

Great work!!! i am big fan of "mad car" plugin for 3dsmax. i always wish the same plugin capabilities were in blender. my dreams came true. 🤩
its almost like you blessed us with it
This is a wonderful work! I love it! Can you decide though which wheels are powered (FWD, RWD, AWD) or can you make it brake with all four wheels?
not yet, but you will be! I'm working on a rigging update at the moment that will allow this.
Reminds me of madcar, good stuff. Hope you gonna add like, support for wasd control or smth, not sure if thats possible though.
Yup! Next step is to add more rig controls, already got Xbox controller working.
Wow bro thank you so much!
it looks very good.. congrats
Thank you very much
Thank you!
lovely i'm hoping it can get to a point where everything become automatic especially the set up for the tyres
Check out the 1.2 update

Thanks Will do!
VERY interested.

Is it possible to use a gamepad to control the car?
Absolutely! Already have a working prototype for an updated release.
is it possible to change spawn point of the car in some ways?

You may need to change the collision source to Final if your road is using any modifiers.
Can you rig more then one vehicle in a scene at once?
Not Yet but next update you will be able to!

can you use a game pad , controller or are you working on it.
Yes! gamepad controller support was added with the 1.1 update.
Is there a way to export for game engine such as unreal engine?
Not the rig it’s self it only works in blender, but you could export the animation made in blender to Unreal
Hey will you make a video on how to pair your smartphone with this app for a realistic drivable car animation ? That would be so good
