  • This is the update to the first video about urinating on plants as an organic fertilizer. This cheap fertilizer is turning out to be the best I've ever used on any plants. I'm never looking back. Urine is full of nitrogen as well as other nutrients for growing plants and it's free. The npk ratio of urine is 10-1-4 and it just so happens that urine is completely sterile when it comes out of your body so it's not quite as gross as a lot of people think. Give this a try and be completely amazed with the results!

    Many, many years ago, I was living on a military base in Seoul, Korea. I spent a good deal of time on a farm and it sparked a memory of the family taking the piss pots out to the family garden. I am just now getting into gardening and I think its great that you are into getting good results with little or no money.

    Upside to diluting it would be that you have more volume and could stretch it out over more plants. I know that's not why people suggest it, but that is a reason I would consider it.

    Great video! 100% TRUE! I’ve been growing monsters for years using urine. For indoor plants, dilute 1 part urine to 20 parts water, water every time. Outdoor, I put urine around the plants straight just before the rain. THE BEST FERTILIZER EVER!

      Yes it is, and I'm glad you've discovered this for yourself and get such fantastic results! I wish everyone could see how well this works and start doing it. Every plant I use this on grows into a massive beautiful and super green/healthy plant!

      @@MikeKincaid79 Exactly. I’ve tried bat guano, bone meal, etc. They were ok, but NOTHING like urine. I’ve been told that there is not enough phosphorous and potassium for fruiting/flowering in urine, but I’ve proved everyone wrong for years! THEY STILL DONT LISTEN. ha ha oh well.

    Another great video from the "pee patch" I have peed in my gardens for 45 years and your results are expected. Saddens me to say that the main reason that that fertilizer is not mentioned is the social repurcusions of pulling out the willy in a potentially public area that might offend some- and the implications then can cause one to jettison to the logical next step of using human waste in the lettuce rows, etc.There are many EXCEEDINGLY important issues that come up , but if people only pee(females welcome), and of course not on the leaves and fruit directly, and avoiding drought-stressed plants then let it flow
    .Another sane way of treating our planet with a little more sanity. A hug from Portugal.

    Hey Mike, glad to come across your video to verify my impressions or my experiences on this. First, thank you for doing the experiment and posting it. I agree that is a very simple, straightforward experiment with great results, and will also suggest for everyone else, including myself, to do the experiment themselves. I was thinking that maybe you can also continue the experiment, for example peeing directly on one at the same frequency, on another with more frequency, another less frequency, and then with another set adding the wood ash. Just my thought that peeing directly and too frequently will still normally overdoze the plant. It could also depend on the plant we are dealing with, whether it's acid-loving or not, etc. I guess the woodash somehow neutralizes any harmful effect from the overdoze if any. Also considering you're healthy and drinking lots of water are all pluses.

    (continuation). The first time I came across this idea was when I was a boarder in a very motherly woman's place who had a beautiful orchid garden, and she was a member of the local orchid club. That was more than 30 years ago. And it's only lately this is making more sense to me knowing how our urine is reach in urea, the latter being one of the main ingredients in fertilizers. Also learning most fresh urines from healthy persons are sterile and safe for most plants. Only last summer when I started experimenting on a potted hibiscus in the frontyard, by watering it with about 50% diluted urine about once a week. It grew very healthy even with little sunlight. I guess it is for the same reason it is wintering much better inside the house because of the fertilizing it had last summer, even if it only got occasional water when in the house this winter. Also did this experiment on potted bamboos in the backyard that are also doing great. Can't wait to take the potted hibiscus outside when the weather is warm enough. Keep up the very helpful experiments and posts, and thanks again!

    Love It!!! You are right on track!!! We’ve been peeing on our gardens for YEARS!!! Even collecting, saving, etc. STRAIGHT ON the wood chip garden beds, because the high carbon deep mulch balances it out (the same is true in using chicken and piggy poo without having to wait a year)! Gardens with no wood mulch have no buffer...so diluting is advised there unless it’s pale/weak. GREAT JOB!!!

    Part of the reason he doesn't need to dilute his urine is the wood chips. Wood chips will absorb some of the urine and use the nitrogen to help break itself down. If the plants need more they can get it from the chips.
    If, however, you are usine urine directly on plants that ARE NOT MULCHED, you might want to consider diluting it. OR try experimenting with different mulches (and one without any mulch) to see what happens.

    The only reason I dilute it is because there's not enough to go around if I use the "straight from the source" method. I pee in gallon jugs and then once a week or so I'll do a 10:1 mixture and then pour about a gallon around each of my plants. Plus, I'm "in the closet" and no one has a clue what I'm doing. I bring my houseplants to an outside screened in porch for the summer and I've been doing this with them as well for years. They're gorgeous!

    Last year I did a bit of research with dilution and found straight urine was detrimental to younger plants however no effect at all with a 20% concentration. The 10% concentration was marginally less effective. Over all 20-30% will be my go too 3 times a week. Adding wood ash was effective compared the year before so now I am amending with bio-char and saving the ash for when the plants that are due to produce fruit/flower. This works really well and I would say I have had a 30-40% increase in harvest and plant health last year with great soil condition within the treated areas.

      I personally would never use human excrement for any gardening. In my opinion, there's only one place for it and that is right in the ground. There's something different about it than cow or horse manure. Humans and pigs internal organs are physically similar and we have the same type of stool. Growing up, my Dad had a pig farm and the areas where the pigs lived wouldn't grow a thing for years and years. I'll stick with just the urine. Glad you like the video!

    yea its a good idea to polinate. If the flower with the mini zuc doesnt get polinated by wind or bug it will wither and drop off. You can just rip off a male flower, rip off the petals, and jam it into the females to get pollen on em. Its good to do this once a day when they are flowering cuz the flowers dont stick around long.

    Of course! This is the same principle as Aquaponics, using the fish waste to filter back into the plants just makes the concept seem more palatable. But urinating in the fish tank would serve the same function. Or as we know, just peeing directly on the plants.

    In one video you mentioned the smell of urine breaking down in public restroom, this is caused for the first part of the process which is sterile urine turning into ammonia. this can contain bacteria that is bad for you or can make you sick. The Next Step is bacteria turning ammonia into nitrites which are still not good for you. The next step is another bacteria turning nitrites into nitrates which is what your plants need. so the best thing to do is don't pee directly on your plant but around it and be sure not to get anything on vegetables. Be sure your vegetables are washed good before you eat them.
    Also you can overdo it, it does get diluted every time the garden gets watered or rained on dilution occurs. if you put your plant in a greenhouse where it never got any rain or other water , it would just die primarily due to salt build up

  • @Gregory_TheWatchman

    Let the naysayers do what they do...either eat poor quality food or starve. Our ancestors did this practice of human urine for fertilizer long before commercialized fertilizer. If people learn to eat more healthy, the body will produce healthier urine (fertilizer). People also must know
    you do not have to pour or spray the fertilizer (urine) on the plant leaf, but simply pour or spray it near the base of the plant in the ground. It's ironic that the use of urine comes at a convenient time as fertilizer prices are going up. Great video of a method that works! Shalom.

    Great advice. I appreciate your honesty and charming earthiness. I see why you're not just joking when you say the "all the ladies love me," because you're so natural. For most plants, it is safer to dilute the urine at least 2:1 water to urine. Of course it depends on how strong the urine is, a function of how much water the person drinks vs. perspires. My research confirms that the elements in urine perfectly match what plants need. Nature has created a perfect system. Supplementing with ash completes the plant's mineral needs and helps neutralize any ph imbalances that can develop. Heavy plant producers can handle undiluted pee if they get enough water but dilution is safer if you have to water anyway. I noticed treating my zucchini Italian squash with urine and ash was equivalent to giving them a shot of Miracle Grow and stimulated them to produce. As for people on maintenance drugs (i.e. statins and bp medicine), the amount excreted is not great enough to harm anyone and might even help those who need the medicine.

    • @MikeKincaid79
      @MikeKincaid79  7 років тому

      Thanks for the comment, James. I'm definitely sold on the urine and wood ash and will be doing this for life. I also wondered about what you mentioned, heavy plant producers handling undiluted urine without a problem. I've currently been urinating on a plant that grows very slowly, for the past few weeks, to see if it burns the plant and so far I'm getting really good results. In fact, the plant is actually picking up it's rate of growth the match the urine. At some point I'll try an experiment where I push this to the limit on purpose and see if I can kill a zucchini plant with urine. Wouldn't it be amazing if it just kept growing bigger and bigger? Anyway, good stuff, and thanks for the comment.

      Isn't it a great feeling to make use of something that you would just
      dispose of otherwise and your body produces an unlimited supply! There is always more coming. You will never run out as long as you're alive. I was surprised how wasteful our society is to not even recognize this valuable asset. I think it's based on prudishness and misinformation, thinking it is unsanitary, but it is really sterile. Interestingly, I never noticed any urine smell probably because the earth and plants absorb it instantly. I guess I just wanted to play it safe. You can see an extreme example where dog urine burns the grass. It could be that a person usually drinks enough water such that the urine does not get too strong. I always thought it was safer to dilute it, and I read that the rule of thumb was higher water:urine, like 3 or 4:1. In some 3rd World countries, they collect the urine for fertilizer, so there are scientific studies on this. I'm in dry CA so my plants need to be watered regularly anyway. However, there was one very large caged sun cherry tomato plant, over 8 ft. tall, that produced all the cherry tomatoes I could eat in a day, so a heavy producer and it did fine without dilution.

    I had a doctor say once how the minerals have been depleted from the soil and crops arnt as nutritious as they were in the past. I think you have proven that point. People mostly think of just NPK but so much more is needed and humans take in what's needed and let it out as waste. The plants need the waste.

    im guessing that mulch is soaking up alot of the nitrogen and acting as a salt filter, the plant looks close to nitrogen toxicity because its a little 2 green, fruit may not taste so good as 2 much nitrogen makes fruits taste bad, try using urine only for vegetative stage, both for flowering and woodash only for fruiting maybe

    To prevent burns water it with urine early in the morning or late afternoon. I tried watering my plant mid day with 50% urine 50% water under a shade and it still got burn.

    • @angelkotilainen
      @angelkotilainen 4 роки тому

      That's a good tip, with watering in general, to not let the leaves get wet :) I'm going for the evening, as I usually water most of my plants then anyway. They have all night to absorb it before the sun comes up, was 28 degrees this week. Just need to drink more water, I've got a big garden 😂

    • @Probity100
      @Probity100 4 роки тому

      As a general rule no gardener waters plants during the day. It’s best done in the morning or late evening or both. Never in the heat of the day as the plants burn/wilt.

    The little zucchini you see always come with the female blossom. If the fruit is successfully pollinated the fruit stays and grows. If you have any bees around you don’t need to worry about hand pollinating.

    As far as I've been told you should dilute the urine so you don't get a build up of salts and whatnot in the soil. If you're super hydrated you might not have to, but since most people aren't, that is the general recommendation. If someone less hydrated pees on their plants eeevery day the soil eventually isn't going to be awesome and the plants are going to suffer. It's probably going to be fantabulous in the beginning but at some point there might be too much of a good thing...

    So Mike, how was the crop of zucchini? I want the update, is this still a method you are using, with wood ash? Thanks!!

    • @MikeKincaid79
      @MikeKincaid79  5 років тому +3

      Absolutely still using this method. Used it 2 years in a row now and I intend to use it again this year. I use the wood ash too. Last summer I experimented on other plants in the garden and between the urine and wood ash, no other fertilizer is necessary and the plants grow bigger and greener and produce more than the others. The only tip I can add is to stop "fertilizing" when the plants produce flowers and just let them do their thing from there.

  • @amazingsylvia

      Great! I know it's kind of taboo but it didn't use to be. We've lost a lot of connection with old ways. Well, this one works. I recently went back and watched this video and compared the final results with my zucchini this year (which I didn't use urine on). No comparison. I'll have to do a video about it and show these results compared to my plants now that never got urine.

    My alcoholic brother peed on the lemon tree out the backyard every day without trying, the local paper ended up coming out and taking a featured photo and write-up. The lemon tree had absolute abundantly packed hundreds of lemons on it like you wouldn't believe. Never seen a lemon tree with so many before and or since. He cut the old tree back heavily yr before this happened.

    • @MikeKincaid79
      @MikeKincaid79  6 років тому

      Wood ash is just a concentrated source of minerals but if it's not available then just use some good composted organic material and each year the soil will become more and more mineral rich as you layer it.
