Evercade cartridges use flash memory, they are not ROM like old console cartridges. Evercade cartridges WILL NOT last nearly as long as NES, SNES, GENESIS, etc cartridges. In fact, flash can have its memory wiped in under a year. Evercade claims they use "high quality" flash but that is irrelevant, the flash being "high quality" will not stop it from being able to lose its data as fast as "low quality" flash. Evercade knows this which is why they aren't nearly as open as they should be about their cartridges using flash memory. Optical media is the king of data storage for longevity, but ROM cartridges can have a long lifespan too as has been proven, flash is trash for longevity.
The evercade is worth the money. Some people complain about the carts being flash media and not ROMS. I personally don't care so much about that as I enjoy the experience it has to offer in the here and now. Then again,I am definitely not one of those collectors who cares about being able to play these games in 25 yrs. I just beat Boogerman(which was fun and is a solid platformer) and don't intend to revisit it. What made it fun was being able to play the game for only a few minutes here and there(I am very busy with wife and kid) and to save immediately wherever I was in the game and then jump right back in where I left off. That i found to be awesome and something I could have never done had I'd been playing it on my original Sega Genesis back in the day.
I pre-ordered all 4 of these carts as well received my shipping notice for Xenocrisis/Tanglewood & Oliver Twins with the 2 Lynx carts coming late November.

I was one of the beta testers on Tanglewood when it was being released for the Megadrive/Genesis, and had SO much fun with it. Totally worth doing a 100% run of the game for reasons I shall not spoil. We have a few videos of it on our channel. Really looking forward to seeing what Matt from BigEvilCorp has coming up next.
I'm very excited about the new cartridges! And thrilled they're continuing to support the system with new releases! Plus the Oliver Twins! I mean, come on! I gotta get that!

The lynx games hit me hard. I use to own a lynx and had a ton of games for it when I was a kid and as I got older I still played on it, till one day my place got broken into and it was stolen.
The Lynx cartridges grabbed my attention as I had one as a kid and loved it. Regarding the Dracula game's "smart" menu, all it takes is to have a number set for each command and have it scroll according to said number, so everything is in a list or data array: 0, 1, 2, etc. Now, the number plus a contextual additive based on location and a set number of different things that might interact with it (say, cupboard, and maybe an item you would put inside or just extract) and just add or subtract said value to or from the command so that the command and the item are set at 0 or "First-Seen Option".

Alien vs Predator was originally in development for the Lynx but it was dropped in favour of the Jaguar version. There used to be a leaked playable version of it on the net, not sure if it still is. I remember buying an EPROM based Lynx cartridge with AVP on it.

I saw Evercade on the shelf in WalMart a few months ago. At the time I just groaned and assumed it was a cheezy handheld with third string titles or games from no name developers on hardware made in China. After seeing your in depth review and the gameplay footage, I bought one and should have it to play in a couple days. Ordered the premium bundle which comes with three game packs together with the console for about $99. Now this looks like a great deal and should be an absolute blast. When I saw that the Lynx packs were not currently available I thought I’d missed the boat, but apparently these are coming soon in late November!
I live in the UK and have all ten cartridges and I am looking foward to the next four I am fifty years old and remember most of these game and you review of them was excellent kind regards Darren
It's probably more cost-efficient and easier on the eyes to buy this system and the two Lynx packs than an actual Lynx. It's a pity they didn't include the Lynx games based on Midway and Atari Games titles (Roadblasters, Gauntlet, etc.), because those are among the best that system has to offer.
Plus, the LCD on the Lynx absolutely, positively sucks. I own two Lynx IIs, one functional. Since I own a bazillion Lynx and Game Gear cartridges, I may spring for one of these when it's released: Analogue Pocket www.analogue.co/pocket/
THis would be a good gift for someone or yourself. Atleast it's legit. Firehawk looks. interesting. IDK why. Some Atari Lynx is cool. For someone who wants to see what that system has to offer. Some of those games i can see playing.
Fantastic Dizzy. Me and my Mom used to play that one on Genesis when I was 5. It's infuriating, and takes about 19 hours to complete if you want to see the ending. It's still frustrating af to try and complete here in 2020 lol
That was quarter pipes in the bmx game. Half pipe is a back and forth ramp where each side you can get air and then turn around in air and go to the other side and then back and forth
Ya you had to save money for the portable console that fit you. Some people prefer neo get pocket color, others game boy advance sp, but I can tell you're different. I can easily see that you are a man of impeccable taste, who likes the finer things in life. You, good sir, are a tiger game.com player!
The "Dizzy" games came out in the UK during the 80s on the ZX Spectrum originally; these new versions of "Dizzy" are massively cleaned-up with improved graphics - none of the ZX Spectrum colour-clash stuff, and these new ones also massively improved sound - the original Spectrum models had a poor 'beeper' speaker built into the casing which sounded rough; even though it was the best it could at the time of 1982/83....

More games are coming!. There's an indies collection and a Piko volume 2 on the way. I don't think we'd see Sega and SNK games ever (maybe some GG thrid-party releases but I think there isn't much that isn't arcade ports), but surely I'm looking forward to see an Atari 8-bit computer collection or a ZX Spectrum and Amstrad collection (the original platforms for those Dizzy games), after all, this comes from Great Brittain and they are coo-koo for those platforms. I wish they would try to develop directly for the platform, It would be great to see some indie games to be ported directly or created exclusively for the console instead of just using roms for old hardware (which sadly is the case for all carts so far, including the upcomming ones). I hope I can get one this Christmas. I wonder if they plan to release some sort of dock to allow multiplayer and wireless controller support.

In your last review and others I've seen on this system it was noted that some of the game packs dont emulate the games on the cartridge well, the button config was weird and the cartridges felt cheap and rattled when shook. I'm still not sold. Hopefully their quality increases. Any comment Metal Jesus?
The button config thing they updated with firmware months ago and some of these cartridges allow you to change that in settings if you wish. As for shaking cartridges?! Never noticed, but all these worked fine. As for the emulation, I didn't notice anything unusual for the games I've played before like on Atari Lynx, but that system is so old I can't imagine the Evercade would struggle with it at all.
I love the Evercade's library, not a single dud yet. Whoever is in charge of licensing deserves a raise. The Oliver Twins collection is hands down my favorite cart.
Not a single dud? What about all the crappy nes versions of arcade games they put out? It's actually quite deceptive as it's not obvious they aren't the arcade versions.
@@meetoo594 it's not like they advertise then as arcade roms. If a game has multiple versions and it isn't advertised as a particular version, why expect the best one? Especially at the $20 price for a licensed multicart? Still a fan.
@@BlUsKrEEm the name evercade sounds like an arcade playing device and if there's a prominent arcade manufacturers name on the collection it's strongly implied that it contains arcade games not some knock-off nes rubbish. They didn't even pick the best home ports.
Great idea for a video! Puzzle game spin-offs from the 90s. SFII, Puzzle Bobble, Pac-Man, Yoshi's Cookie, Kirby's Ghost Trap, Mario's Picross.. I bet there are loads more. @Martin Schmidt how is it a fake system, officially licensed by every single company that made any of the games included in the library and is doing a favor for the whole retro community, how dare u talk crap about it, it is such a good system that brings so many classics and games that we've never played before into a simple and easy way to enjoy it whilst still collecting the physical copies of them. Blaze entertainment is doing great and I hope they keep it up.
@Martin Schmidt it's a legal and great way to play games while using cartridges, clearly u are not a true collector or even somehow interested in physical copies. Most collectors appreciate this and a bit of plastic won't do anything and that's a terrible point as it's not even 100th of a fraction of plastic usage. Dumping roms to a device that the creators worked countless hours to make, and they optimize it and make a ui for every single game so that's another stupid point. Ever heard of the saying If u don't have anything nice to say then just don't say anything?
@Martin Schmidt so ur a collector who doesn't appreciate a console that allows players to experience the best games made by different companies from different systems on a modern system? Lol is correct

Cut my teeth on the Oliver Brothers Dizzy games as a kid. Hugely popular in the UK as British kids loved their Spectrums and C64’s.
New dizzy game coming
Amstrads as well
It's probably more cost-efficient and easier on the eyes to buy this system and the two Lynx packs than an actual Lynx. It's a pity they didn't include the Lynx games based on Midway and Atari Games titles (Roadblasters, Gauntlet, etc.), because those are among the best that system has to offer.
Maybe they will in the future
Plus, the LCD on the Lynx absolutely, positively sucks. I own two Lynx IIs, one functional. Since I own a bazillion Lynx and Game Gear cartridges, I may spring for one of these when it's released:

@@winstonsmith478 If it is ever available, I'd love to get one too...
@@winstonsmith478 or you can do a screen mod for your Lynxes which would be the best option.
Wow i LOVE the Atari Lynx Collections!!
This handheld is great, both in idea and in performance. I am sold on it. Purchased.
The Dizzy games are the best ones.
The NES version of Super Robin Hood wasn't the first ever Oliver Twins game. The (very different) home computer versions were.
Dizzy The Adventurer on NES - my nr 1 childhood game :)
It would be bad ass if evercade was like a loot crate service.. buy the evercade and every 3 weeks you get a box with game and stuff!
Atari Lynx is one of my favourite handhelds
THis would be a good gift for someone or yourself.
Atleast it's legit.
Firehawk looks. interesting. IDK why.
Some Atari Lynx is cool. For someone who wants to see what that system has to offer.
Some of those games i can see playing.
Love watching your videos during quarantine. It gives me somethimg to do. Thank you MJR!
i had a Lynx II back in the 90s and Slime World was such a blast! Nice to see it's on a physical cartridge again.
Wow, Lynx and Dizzy for sure
It's nice to see they are putting out more cartridges for this.
Never heard of any of these titles. Fun to see them receive more love. Never owned a Lynx, just wasn't for me.
@@stevesstuff1450 these are the NES and Genesis (I think) ports.
I love my Evercade. ANd I think a Broderbund collection would be really cool.
I hope you know Evercade cartridges use flash memory, they are not ROM like old console cartridges.
Proud that it comes from Britain! Should come with a PG Tips pyramid teabag.
Ability to play left or right handed is really handy!
I looooved Dracula on the lynx, it was a portable Resident evil before RE even existed
@13:42 I remember that game in after school daycare
I just got my Evercade and I'm loving it! I can't wait to get all these carts!
I got the Evercade Handheld and I am really enjoying it
Looks like Gordo is where Nintendo got the inspiration for Diddy Kong
I have this can't wait
Awesome I just ordered one off of eBay Did my research on it first of course then saw your videos on it and bought it
On my list..
I have the whole collection so far..
Love it like a circa 1980/90 handheld explosion!
I am a retro collector like your self and love your videos
Oh man... I hope they make a Lynx 3 with games like road blasters, hydra, road riot 4wd, stun runner and hard drivin
I am in the Evercade Facebook group and we ask for this at every opportunity. STUN Runner is the Lynx killer app!
I've caved and ordered one, arrives next saturday.
Awesome video! I think those lynx collections are my next purchases
Thanks for the great review...love my Evercade, can't wait to get the new cartridges.
Beating Xeno Crisis on hard with my best friend on Genesis is still the greatest gaming achievement of my life. Freaking love that game!
I have an Evercade and I really like it. It's not perfect but I really enjoy. I hope they keep supporting it. I would like to see some bigger name titles on it but in time I hope.
Chip's Challenge? Sold.
Had to cancel my preorder and extra cart. I even went through Blaze website and I recieved an email saying it sucks to be you but your stuff was delayed in more or less words. I even waited for over three months and I never saw it. I cancelled my order and got my money back
More games are coming!.
Cool that theese guys puts new stuff over it!!!!!
Yeah, seems pretty cool...👍🏼💯✔ If I ever run across this in a store I might buy it...👌🏼
Loved the dizzy franchise on my spectrum.
Great video man. I don’t know why, but it’s just so relaxing to watch your vids. Perfect to just chill out and soak in the retro goodness :-)
Thanks 👍
Eggcellent
That Dracula game looks awesome.
definitely a cool thing for Handheld enthusiasts to get their mitts on.
Evercade cheaped out.

Random Task Loser😂😂
Be cool to see more videos on Evercade collections
Awesome review as usual. Keep the videos coming and I can’t wait to try one of these out!
Great video by the way , one of my favourite channels of late:)
Tanglewood is a great game, when those big monsters start coming from you it really does get the heart rate up! Love it :)
Great idea for a video! Puzzle game spin-offs from the 90s. SFII, Puzzle Bobble, Pac-Man, Yoshi's Cookie, Kirby's Ghost Trap, Mario's Picross.. I bet there are loads more.
Also, great to see ElectroCop getting some attention. The character might be inspired by RoboCop, but the game itself is innovative with a cool soundtrack. I must try and finish it one day.
Fantastic video I'm waiting for all four to hit my doormat like Warren I'm in the UK so hopefully they will arrive soon .
You are so good at showing then off in detail brilliant as always MJR 😀😀👍👍🕹️🎮
So unfair....the rest of us have to wait..... The evercade is a fantastic console!
Just so you can bitch about how they are emulators and not og ports. You can wait..
@@lordeowstheking referring to the super Mario 3d all stars? 😂
I wish they would have put Warbirds and Rygar on the Lynx collection! I know the Dizzy collection and Xeno Crisis are released on Nov 6th, but do you know when the Lynx collections will be released?
