I repaired a different Acer model with a similar behavior for a friend of mine. It didn't have a straightforward short like this one, but after a few seconds it powered off (backlight would appear for an instant). Basically VCCGT was not showing up. I solved it by completely removing the VCCGT power supply. It is a bit slow at POST (maybe a timeout occurs and then switches to the NVIDIA gpu) but it works. Would be interesting to look at a video about intel CPU voltages sequence (VCCGT should be one of the latest to show up if I'm not mistaken) 😊
As the battery was disconnected, then someone was here before. Looking at the state of the fans, I wonder whether the liquid metal paste was due for change and either wasn't changed or not changed properly. Wishful thinking, but I would have expected some sort of overheating warning / shutdown, rather than frying the chipset.
Someone was selling chips but they don't desolder them, ie, no heat no bend, they cut the motherboard with 4 slices, ie, you get chip plus a section of the MB and you remove the chip.
Gaming laptop is just a term used for very high end laptops they are not really designed to play games on them they are designed to do heavy tasks like games but not only games😂
Agree with this 100%. Bought one for my brother and just waiting for the main power rail to short and take out the GPU/CPU. Brother thinks all is fine and I'm very negative lol. I service the laptop regularly and keep dust under control and hoping that will be enough. Acer Nitro is what I bought him, cheap and cheerful lol.
That loos like the integrated gpu u could try disable it by cutting the power to the integrated only i belive it should have a differet power soure for it ?
Another expensive laptop that will cost a fortune to repair. If you want to play games that require a powerful cpu and gpu buy a gaming pc. that is made with off the shelf parts that are easy to replace..

A last effort testing after unplugging the screen maby? There's a slim chance a screen short due to its damage loading the chipset...

Customers should demand socketed CPU and GPU on these expensive laptops.
Socket means bigger space and the trend atm is to make it super thin, that's why i don't like thin laptops
No thermal paste on chipset definitely didn't help. It's designed to be heat sunk no?
Welcome back I miss you ❤

Do they guarantee it working? I doubt it, its about time and cost at the end of the day
Not liquid metal on the chip top capacitors?
Hello🤝R.I.P😤
$1700 on Acer Philippines right now for this model, ouch.
In this time you have everyday nice laptop for repair
Is it true, plug-in and unplug in the HDMI cable when the machine is on, can make damage, because it’s not like a USB port?
Thanks
it's safe to plug and unplug HDMI
Boot work and make normal predator start up noises xD
is it possible to disable gpu core by altering resistor or something else? to make it like KF series.
the chipset was gone nothing but a new one would fix it
no it's chipset issue, not IGP issue
so, no.
@@maklogetrich2378 why did the chipset have 0.2 ohms? Igpu is part of the cpu silicone
@@Takashita_Sukakoki yes IGP is part of CPU, not the chipset (PCH)
chipset is the small one beside CPU
@@Takashita_Sukakoki but I don't know if they're sharing the same coil
This is a sad story
feels bad
Acer is the worst. Salutari Sorin!
There have been a lot of problems with Intel chips. This seems to be very common.
Sadly dead 😔
Don't buy gaming laptops, buy gaming desktop instead
