What a clearly illustrated training video! When someone takes the time to illustrate what they are saying with examples it is so helpful. Thanks Captain Lang!
You continue to provide accurate and concise info. Excellent examples shown, great photography! These are very concentrated and deserve treatment as references.
Thank you learning every day. I have a gaf rigged boat. Jib trim would be the same but sure the main is a little different. Looking for a video on gaf rig sail trim. Great video....
Thank you...Some times I think I over do it and it looks a little fake, like I'm in front of a green screen. I't hard to control the large reflector on the boat... but it's all for fun as I pretend I'm making theatrical movies.
Thank you. Clear though a little rushed. Am I right in thinking that the kicking strap could have been tightened to remove the creases in the mainsail where it meets the mast?
I really like your adjustable topping lift with the cleat at the end of the boom. I've never seen it before but it seems such a good idea. I'd like to put this system on my boat because I like to use the topping lift a lot when reefing, dropping the main or just for de-powering the main. Is it one continuous line I wonder from the boom end, up to the top of the mast then back down to the cleat?
It is on the todo list but I have two other videos that I have to do first. A redo on my jackline video with my new and best design yet. And a Seasickness prevention exercise video which I very excited about. Thank you for watching and commenting.
@@CaptainLang I'm still hoping the third part comes out, I got a lot out of the first two. Too many sources online make trimming sails out to be impossibly complex. I appreciate your teaching style.
No this is live on the boat out at sea I'm using a highly reflective silver reflector to fill in the shadows. It was probably a little too much and that's what gives it that green screen look.

I work so hard on these it's nice to have someone recognize what I am trying to do. Thank you for your kind words they are appreciated.
Thank you very much, in the last few minutes I feel like I’ve gained about 2 years sailing experience.
Good thing I'm fit in airplane aeronautics. Helped me greatly trimming without a sailboat license
You did a great job of simplifying the process.
Really well taught trimming guide. Thank you. I learned several things from this video
This series of videos for trimming the sails was very useful for improving my sailing.
Really great explanation! I especially like the technical details. I'll be applying these concepts next sail.
Thanks for your kind words.
Lang, you should take out 4 people at a time for real time sailing instructions! Your knowledge of sailing is exemplary! xo
Wow, that was a great sailing day. Thank you for the clear examples of sail trim. I enjoyed watching.
You continue to provide accurate and concise info. Excellent examples shown, great photography! These are very concentrated and deserve treatment as references.
Wow, great video. I have no clue why your videos don't have more views.
I too am frustrated by my lack of views. I put a lot of work into making these videos. Thank you for your kind words.
@@CaptainLang I'll pass the word along, sir... Keep 'em coming
Looking forward to part 3 , thanks for your videos!
Clear and easy understand. Thank you Captain Lang.

While I have been around a long time, I don't have experience with a gaf rig and don't feel qualified. Sorry.
@@CaptainLang no problem. I'm still learning from your videos. I see my main back filling sometimes and now I know how to fix it. Thanks
Nicely done. That was never covered in my lessons.
Hvala.
I can not thank you enough. Your donation is a major factor in my ability to continue to make more videos. Thank you again!!
Your vid's are most helpful, thank you! Also like the cockpit lighting for your intro's, good idea. Original.

You explain this very well.
Thank you!
Superb Captain Lang!
Thank you. Clear though a little rushed. Am I right in thinking that the kicking strap could have been tightened to remove the creases in the mainsail where it meets the mast?
I am really enjoying this series on sail trim, although I can't figure out how you got those great camera shots.
Thank you for the intuitive explanation. Could you do one for broad reach trimming?

Is it one continuous line I wonder from the boom end, up to the top of the mast then back down to the cleat?
No, the steel cable has an eye near the boom. I have a two to one block and tackle with cam cleat from there to the boom.
What a great explanation and video!! Will you make part three with info about mast bend etc? Looking forward to that!
Thank you and all the best!

Oh goodie! :) Take your time!
All the best, from Belgium!
@@CaptainLang Sitting under a tree seems to be the best seasickness prevention.
Nice video. You do conflate mainsheet and mainsail in your description, though.
Sorry for that... I would fire my proof reader except that I'm the proof reader.
Excellent !!!
Hello, is the third part also coming out soon? Would appreciate it very much.
Part 3 is my most ambitious and technically challenging video and it is taking much longer to produce. It may take until spring to complete.
@@CaptainLang I'm still hoping the third part comes out, I got a lot out of the first two. Too many sources online make trimming sails out to be impossibly complex. I appreciate your teaching style.
@@CaptainLang Also looking forward to it! But no rush :) Kind regards
can't wait for the part 3 as well - great vids!
Well Done, ty.
Is the intro a green screen? Just curious
