the Diesel heaters were notorious for difficult of starting but once it started. wow hot. we were in -10 degrees and had to open a window to make it comfortable.
@@ThisWeekWithCars I use to use this type of truck when I was in the Army, some did have a standing pipe and some didn’t. Just depends on who has worked on it though the years
I have a propane furnace in my diesel pusher and the batteries die before morning when it's around 30f. Its terrible way to heat unless plugged is shore power. Your way seems better. Have fun camping
My favorite camper build on UA-cam right now. Keep it up! If you've got any more footage from the trans replacement, or could go over what it took to find another and replace it, I'd love to watch it!
I remember that video, but I forgot about you mentioning the trouble with filming the process. lol. Honestly, if you had more footage of just the yard where you got the replacement transmission, I'd even watch that. :)
Nice!!! I'm interested to see what you are going to do for storage. Most obvious would be getting the bed off the floor, and putting storage under it ... either drawers or space for totes to slide under.
Hi Steve, love the ideas.. perhaps 2 things If I may mention, 1 being good thermal Insulation and 2, why not take a look at those cheap Chinese truck/ camper van heaters.. I heard good reports on them and the better ones come with a remote controlled room thermostat/ my son wants one for his high top VW camper van being its diesel powered. It will only take up a fraction of space inside your offroading camper van.. Anyway Thanks for the video -- Ian -- UK.
Good example of the power savings of the LED lights! Also, great reminder on installing a CO monitor. Did I miss the video of repairing/replacing the transmission? What did it take to find another one?
Why not do away with the 120v lighting and run them direct off the 24v? Doesn't make sense with LEDs to convert up to 120v then convert back to low voltage for the LED.
Ive got the box off a truck like this in N.Y. Its not in the greatest shape some dents and some rust But honestly id give it to anyone who can remove it from my land.. It has benches and tool boxes down both sides..
I can't seem to find the video where this transmission exploded? Considering I'm looking into buying one of these vehicles I'd like to know what the cause would be.
@@ThisWeekWithCars OK watched the video, didn't get any info from it except the bellhousing cracked and you replaced unknown parts for unknown causes, so ok. Thanks.💁♂️
@@skeetermcswagger0U812 the jack shaft bolts probably loosened up and when it came loose it jammed between the transmission and the transfer case breaking the transmission case. Common problem, make sure to check all driveshaft bolts periodically.

Save the old Jerry can holder. Plum the heater in back to a can and use the bracket to hold it. That way you don’t run the main tank empty.
I am sure the heater draws from a stand pipe so that it cannot drain the tank empty.

More, please.
Great update😊 Using DC to DC converters for USB power is vastly more power efficient than DC to AC to DC so it may be something you wish to consider👍
DC/DC converters just do that internally, but yeah, they're more efficient.
Fix the propane heater...and done!
You should definitely get a new diesel heater they work great
Glad to see you got it back together
I just bought one just like this one.
My plan is to make it a camper. Pretty awesome video!

Welcome back Steve.😁 That's one cool rig. I think I'd be upgrading the heating just a tad though.😁
I didn't even go over what my heating plans are. Saving that for later.
@@ThisWeekWithCars I just meant that the little electric heater might not be quite enough for winter camping.😁

Great update and good to see the changes are practical ones which don't impact on the overall history of the vehicle.

That's a really cool camper. Hope you guys have a good camping trip!
Best camper ever 👍😊
I'd put like a 1200 inverter to be safe
Nice project.
Nice rig.
Totally awesome mate! Only you need to sort out your Aircon to use it in Australia 🤣
Encore

Cool
