Well holy hell did this last week beat me up for no reason. It be like that though sometimes and we just have to keep trucking knowing it’s all temporary. The funny thing is I decided to decorate the bathroom as a “breather” haha. Can we talk about how I decided to throw paint on the wall last minute after everything was all said and done? Really excited that I made the decision though.

I am LOVING that red-orange accent wall! I think it's the perfect big pop of color, I feel like it really ties in with the other tones going on in the bathroom, and you're right that it totally works with the sink.
I totally agree!
Same.
I love that color. I have the same terracotta color in my bedroom. I have a southwestern aesthetic going on, it calms my soul.
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz what color orange did you use for this project?? I love it !
I have almost the exact same orangey color on one of my living room walls. I absolutely love it! It is what I get complimented on the most 😊
Please don’t rush yourself for us! Take your time and enjoy the process! Burnout is the worst and you deserve to love and enjoy what you do and not feel rushed to provide content 🫶🏻 mental health comes first 🤍
Yes❤❤
Agreed. Less satisfying because I know that this project was rushed. The foundation of the bathroom wasn’t even solid yet, but she decorated anyway. Leaves an emptiness in me :(
💯
The woman who taught me that we can do hard things. I am so inspired by you 🤍
Love you, thank you xx.
I truly admire you for revisiting this, taking a step back when you didn’t feel right about it, pivoting, and showing us all of it. Your vulnerability in showing us this helps so many people realize it’s still hard for people that do this for a living, too. For me, that tells me it’s not “just me,” and makes the finish line seem a little more attainable. 💜
Jenna that makes me so happy. That's exactly my point to this edit so thank you!
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz 💜💜💜
I am typically more in favour of a shower screen, but in this bathroom i think the shower curtain work so much better because it's such a small space, and the drape echoes the softness of the nature and sand outside as well as balaces all the other hard elements within the bathroom. Good job Rachel!
I had one before and wasn't the biggest fan but I think it's all personal preference.
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz aw yeah I rewatched the reveal part of the video and saw clips with and without the shower curtain. I liked how it looked in that one shot, but of course you're the one who's there live and it's your perspective that counts
Anyone else relate so hard to tat cry sesh mid DIY? Don't rush your content for us, take your time and do what feels right, even if what feels right is a lil nap. ❤
Yes 😢😢😢 currently crying. And in between a bunch of projects
I just wanted to show the reality of the renovation. I wasn't rushing but the week just beat me the fuck up and broke me down. Feels good to get out the episode and show the reality.
Glad you are doing acrylic. So many glass bathroom doors explode for no reason at all
Yes! Totally agree.
😮😮😮😮oh damn!!!!
Hunney.... u need to get a project managment app, cuz this is messy....
Also, i think its best you do this with somebody, just to hold you accountable on your projects.
It seems like you move on from one thing to another when the other thing didn't work out.
STAY COMMITTED to your project phases.
You should follow a waterfall method, cuz now its a Scrum done poorly.
My channel is the reality of renovating, learning and progressing into figuring this all out. This episode was up and down but that's how it went. Every episode is not going to be perfect because that's not how it happens on my corner of the internet. There are plenty of perfect channels for you elsewhere but I can't promise that here xx.
"try to see the good things"
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetzthis has got nothing to do with perfection.... its not that deep.
Im merely suggesting using a project management methodlogy that would really help you in getting your projects done systematically.
A the reality of most renovation is, well, systemic.
You yourself were about to cry cuz you're tired....i'm pretty sure deep down you want to get it done and over with.
If we keep on doing things the same way, nothing will change.
Why accept that this the "reality" of your renovation?
P.S im not just a 1 time viewer, and for sure this is not the first rollercoaster of an episode that i've watched.
looks super tight! love love love the plants and all the warmth radiating out of that bathroom. you're on fiyah 🔥
Thanks so much!!
Rach, you are so hard on yourself.
I really enjoy you. I don't need a perfectly finished project. I love learning thru you! Bring us along on multiple smaller projects and all the fails. I learn so much from you. I wish you stopped pressuring yourself to appease us. We aren't staying with your channel for "perfect" reveals. Promise. Please be nice!! TO YOURSELF, sweet pea, gosh!
I'm not pressuring myself! This was just the reality of the reno. Me getting rundown 🫶🏼 and with a sponsor deadline, sometimes we need to rush.
You keep going. Love that. You could place tape before drilling holes in fragile things. Hope that helps. You are inspiring Rachel ❤
I didn't even think of that! I swear when the burnout is about to hit you stop thinking. That's how I felt looking back on this edit - the universe kept telling me to slow down.
I love the terracotta wall!!! It would look so good if you painted the wall in the shower under the shelf white. It would reflect the orange color and make it so vibey in there 😍
Dear Rachel, I loved the past Rachel, I love the present Rachel, and I am sure I will love the future Rachel. You are such an inspiration! I love the plants in the bathroom and the whole bathroom is just awesome! And I'm so glad you met someone, and I wish with all my heart that it's the right soulmate, you deserve it!
Rachel! Maybe it was a good thing the acrylic didn't work: wouldn't all the spray water from the shower collect between the outside of the tub and the acrylic pane? it would be a pain in the butt to clean and dry it (or maybe that is not a problem in the desert? Only ever lived in cold climates :D)
Yeah I didn't even think to clarify how I tried two glass doors before and the acrylic was my last attempt to see if the idea would even work.
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz aw damn, that is even more frustrating then! I'm sure it will be fine with just a curtain, too
That scene when the shower head hit you oh my gosh I yelled noooo. Wood in the shower, I tired that then found pvc that would work I’m nervous about wood. I love everything you set your mind too. You always make it work you persevere. It’s been a long journey and you’re blossoming proving you can overcome with great panache. I feel discouraged with you but I know you can do it.
Thank you so much xx.
You with the flagstone is exactly me. I was here watching the cut and going "cool, now we drop it"...I'm a dumb*** too, it happens sometimes😂 Don't sweat the perspex, soap scum builds up so easily that it's a constant chore. A curtain is much easier as it just needs to be thrown in the wash - it also offers more privacy. Accidents happen, but they can work out better for it...though that could be my practicality talking, as I love things easy.
I second the vacation. I'm the kind that recharges by receding from the rest of the world and luxuriating in doing absolutely nothing. I feel a vacation, even a two-day getaway, would be wonderful for you. (Maybe you can drag your partner along too 😉Congrats by the way and all the best!) However, if you do go on a vacation, don't feel pressured to film it. Some things are just better enjoyed when there are no obligations, and you can just focus on the moment, forgetting about everything else 🌺
When you rolled that color on to the wall, magic happened!!! LOVE IT!!!
The orange wall was the right call, trust your gut mumma! I really think it's going to capture and reflect the sunlight in so much more of a gentle and calming way, and also the orange brings the desert outside inside with you. Love love love it!!!
Yup feel that!!!! Anxiety telling me stop this… do that 🤦♀️ NOTHING gets completed. That red wall warmed it up sooooo much ❤
Rachel it’s gorgeous! The terra-cotta orange wall is beautiful and I love the decor it looks so personal and homey. I would watch anything you put out at any time girl, take ya time! We will be here always 💖💖
It's okay girl! You got this! You're doing great! 💜💜 So many people wouldn't even attempt what you're doing and you decided to do it in a location that's far away from a home improvement store, which makes it 1000x harder. And there's no reason to rush for a video, just following the process is great. Plus, you get an extra video (or 10 lol) out of it because you need an extra "part" to finish up a space.😜
You've inspired me countless number of times without even realizing it just by being you. Love your energy.
LOVING the terra cota wall, so warm and desert-y, my diningroom and feature wall in livingroom are that color(Moroccan Sky)...it looks amazing...and that door...SWOON...!!!
I love watching the process even if it’s slow things take time in real life trial and error and I like that your very real and transparent about it. ❤ the progress though! How beautiful give yourself some more credit. YOU DID THAT!
I love seeing you be so genuine and so human. This is how my projects look with some tears sometimes and some hissy fits others times 😂 we feel your pain Rachel and love you!!
Haha I love and am sometimes embarrassed showing the reality.
❤❤❤❤❤ beautiful!! That orange was the icing on the cake.. Great job!!
Ohmygod Rachel you are so hilarious and relatable! And the orange wall is so perfect, especially with the stained glass door and the custom sink
Thank you!
Sink + wall color looks amazing you are right!
Love the growth and how beautiful it turned out!! That orange wall is my favorite!
Thank you!
The new positive Rachel is giving me so much LIFE. And I needed these good vibes desperately
Awe thank you!
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz ofc anytime
You're amazing Rachel...I love your unique style and out of the box thinking 👌👌. Be kind to yourself and take your time.
Thank you xx.
You are really making me love that terracotta orange color because whenever you use it I'm like YES!!! and it always looks so good.
It's so good!
Ughh that acrylic, I just sat here like 'just predrill smaller and then go bigger. slower, less violence Rachel!!' and then you started crying and I got it so much and just wanted to hug you 😂 creativity cannot be rushed as much as we want it to ❤
Haha I was so done. I tried two glass door DIY's before off camera and this just sent me over the edge.
this was a total win!! I'm constantly doing klutzy stuff like breaking glass, dropping things on my toes, etc. my brain seems to move faster than my body sometimes lol you are all the more lovable for showing your vulnerabilities. keep at it girly!! ;)
love all the changes you made!!! the bathroom looks incredible
Thank you Chloe!
hi Rachel I'm revising for my a levels at the moment and it's very stressful!! but your videos are a great treat for me to look forward to every week so thank you
Sending💞🙏🏻 great job. I’m sorry about the Plexy glass breaking. We all ignore that little voice that says it’s gonna break stop. You did a great job! The reclaimed wood is gorgeous, this sink adds great texture and I love the color you painted!
You are a hero Rachel!❤
I love the new wall color!! I was yelling when you 1st started...but it's perfect!!
Haha thank you!
LOVE the accent wall. Love the direction this going..
I have days like this too. Same sequence also. 1st: I'm tired, sad or grumpy. 2nd: every step forward knocks me back two steps. Then 3rd: always some sort of physical pain to really bring the dross to the surface.
It was good seeing you move forward through it. It helped me. I was able to see beauty and honest humor in vulnerable times.
Thank you! I just like showing the reality of the renovation.
LIVING for the terracotta paint!!!!
Beautiful color!
I love the terracotta color wall! So warm and fun!
Yay!
It looks brilliant
The color looks fabulous!! The desert literally seeping through the wall.❤
Ah! Love it.
I love the terracotta amber color you put on the wall because it kind of makes it seem like the shampoo bottles are reflecting all over the room now
I love that colour, looks so good with the shadows!
Thanks Jacky!
Love the new color..... it brings the desert inside.
The paint color you chose is absolutely beautiful.
Thank you Iris!
That wall colour works well. It warms up the room
Rachel the new colour wall looks gorgeous and the plants to! For the acrylic to work out you should do a slim wood frame to feet the acrylic in it! Love the idea! Don’t have ver work yourself, you don’t need to rush to put anything out for us! We’re in any circumstances, ok? ❤❤
We renovate RVs for a living and yes, it's hard work. This is outstanding and the colors are perfect ❤
Love the terra-cotta color!

Nothing like the love of a good dog!
You look gorgeous.
Well done Rachel! Loving the new design, the wall colour looks great 🧡 Your efforts will always pay off, even if you change your mind! It doesn’t need to be a linear process :) and please, give yourself a lush holiday break if you feel you really need it! UA-cam can wait, and it will leave you feeling refreshed and ready for more amazing DIYs you love 💪🏼✨
Currently on one!
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz amazing, enjoy! x
Wow that gold, burnt orange and brown is amazing combo!
Love the accent wall; the color is so saturated and great with the sink. It's funny that I loved the mustardish yellow you used before, but I don't quite like it next to the dark terra cotta for some reason. It may be my screen, but the two colors don't mesh well to my poor little untrained eyes. Love the faucet and shower, though. You're nurturing a very comforting and eclectic bathroom, and I'm totally loving every step of the process, even the paths no longer taken.
Thanks so much! 😊
Girl! That wall color 😍
Thank you!
Love the wood in the bathroom. 😢😢😢 the mid cry. Feel you💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Ugh thank you.
Love the colour of that wall in the bathroom. And now I want plants in my bathroom too! 😄
Finally have some more time, so I am binging your videos ❤️ love how the bathroom turned out!! The orange wall is amazing. For privacy, maybe you could add the rainbow vinyl onto the window? It would look so beautiful in there with the light. If it’s not your style, maybe the bottom half frosted? I always have a hard time showering in front of an open window.
I actually framed it so you can only see your head 😂 but I can't wait to add a fence
Love your bathroom!
Doing a bathroom reno ourselves, & this looks like the same exact shower head that I just purchased off of Wayfair! Love it!!! Can't wait to put up in our bathroom!
It's sturdy as heck, and I'm so sorry it hit your face 😔. Can see me doing the same thing!
Thank you!
I have such stain door envy right now. As someone who also has anxiety this video was so helpful. Anxiety is that toxic friend you such can't shake
I love but am embarrassed to show the bad but I think it's helpful.
The orange is STUNNING ahh!! Gorgeous!
i looove the terracotta/orange!! totally tied the room together
Appreciate you xx.
Another killer makeover!!! Girl you are an amazing person and love to see that you are trying to be kinder with yourself like we all should do more of!
Thank you xx.
I have those days! Where everything is frustrating. You're tired but just want to commit to moving forward! Then everything falls, cracks, isn't perfect, and becomes a challenge. Then the tears come. XO
The bathroom looks so good and i love the color and the plexi glass idea will work just take your time dont rush because i can see where your going with it enjoythe process love
100%
You are doing a great job - just look how far you‘ve come and how much you have learned - your honesty and vulnerability are refreshing and inspiring at the same tim 🙌🏽✨✨✨
Thank you!
I like that sink but what I really like is the blend of the wall color to the cactus. 😍
Me too!
I feel for you Rachel! You are my role model, you are so strong and brave
Thanks love xx.
I adore that color , RED - Orange Terracotta !
I love your healing 🌞
Yes this was just a bad day and I like showing it.
It’s gorgeous. I love your videos so much. You got this girl ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!
Give yourself some grace. It's fun to see a glimpse of your life. I am a 55yr old married woman from Michigan and it rained all day today. It's fun for me just to see your property, it looks so peaceful. 💕
Thank you for being here xx.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. We love you!! 👑🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love the orange !!!!!!
I'm living for the plants in the shower!
Me too!
Very inspiring!! I liked the white wall more though!
You are amazing! Do this boss babe stuff on YOUR time and don't worry about anyone else. This is YOUR space, have fun with it (as much as you can lol there will always be setbacks) 🖤
I do like the way this came out
Proud of you friend! 🫶🏼
Love you Linds
Here for your process not just the first pass!
Thank you xx.
This is the first time here but I have to say I enjoyed seeing someone that was real being opening valuable is hard more so we are hard in ourselves but you being tired and second guessing yourself but in the end was like yes I love this made me realize we're not robots but real people with real emotion 😊I love the bathroom and the pop of orange made me smile goes to show you or I and everyone else to take changes challenge yourself love it ❤
You are such a HUMAN! it was so good to see you cry. I went through this last week and wanted to quit, in fact I did and then part of me reminded my quitter self that I won't learn by quitting. I go nuts over your rings? Can you give a little bit of info? I was wondering if you could bring up the tile to the wall you painted. Also what if you used the plastic that is used for boat windows. I have seen a woman use it as a shower wall. It looked really good. If I find the pictures or recall the persons blog, I will message you the info on Insta. Also no worries, take your time. Do Not rush just to give us content. if you need to do a bit here and then that is fine with me and your fans. How is your face?
TBH, I loved the first iteration of the bathroom, mostly because I love pink but also because it was refreshing to see you move away from black and white. However, the rugged beauty that the desert has brought out in you feels more natural to your home and who you're becoming. Super interested in seeing where you are another year from now.
Great to see you back, remember do what you feel is right as you are the person who will be living in it. 🙂🙃😉❤
I fucking LOVE that orange!!!! Sitting on the couch smacking my partner with excitement, yelling out "she's a genius" 🤣🙌🧡
Awe! 🫶🏼
You are too hard on yourself! The way you take on difficult projects and power through is very impressive and inspiring. I like the terracotta accent wall. I really want to see how you do the flagstone floor.
My video two videos ago show that process but it's just simple mortar and then grout.
Hey "new" Rachel, that bathroom had it in for you! Turned out real nice though. I like the way you try things because you like them, not because somebody else said you should like them. You are a "do'er"!!❤😊
I am such a fan of that orange!!! I have it in like 5 rooms of my house! ❤❤❤ Every time you kept hitting or hurting yourself I kept thinking "Yeah she needs a break". When I have that happen I know my energy is insanely bound up and so I'll step away from whatever I'm trying to do.
Thank you!
Yes Shero that color goes better with the sink.😅
Progress, not perfection Love the orange!
Your shower is super cool😎👍🏼🙏😘
Thank you 🤗.
A. You're such a hottie 🥰
B. That showerhead is gorgeous but so ABUSIVE
C. Seeing the kicka$$ reclaimed wood stairs, ceramic pot, then back up to that picture window that looks like a postcard of JT desert !!!!!
You're a self taught creative and this renovation BUILD was never going to be easy. You have inspired people worldwide with this property, all the dope ideas and handled the setbacks with honesty and integrity
Thank you!
I love the color of that wall Rachel!
I think tho, you should take your time, researching more prior to your projects and thinking a lot about what steps to take beforehand so you don't get as frustrated if something goes wrong at that time and space.
Plan, draw, make a list of steps and don't always do things alone when there's no necessity! You have friends who are there for you and to help you when you need ❤️
It's ok to fail, but it's also ok to plan more, have help and do less alone ❤️
I love you, take care of yourself 🫡
Rita I do love you but don't assume I don't research. I tried two glass doors off camera before just on my own and they failed. The acrylic was a third attempt that would be less dangerous to showcase than the glass on camera with how they were going. I appreciate everyone's comments xx.
@Living to DIY with Rachel Metz I believe you do your research every time, don't get me wrong. My bad for the way I worded it. I meant like, to create a system that would work for you, like visually see things prior to making them (?) I feel like you are a very visual person, and maybe you could draw on top of pictures of your space or have visual sensorial mood boards if you don't have them at the moment.
I apologize, English isn't my first language, and my comment was not well worded, and I didn't mean that you don't research the theory or practical parts of your projects.
I'm sorry for my miscommunication and whatever emotions that might have cause you Rachel, I truly am...
I love you ❤️
You are so genuine, strong, creative, such a badass. I wish I had the courage and drive to even start any of all the things you have accomplished. Just know that slot of us can relate y support you. Huge hug all the way from Panama in latin america. Besos!
Loving you - thank you Carla.
I absolutely luv this bathroom! I really would luv to see you and Hannah do a collab together on a ti y house. U both are amazing ladies and try inspiration to us all. I would of found a gold sink fixture to match the bathroom but I know u like different textures and textiles that’s just me thinking. Rachel stop second guessing urself because all your work is 💯
